Based on the Modified Couple Stress Theory,a functionally graded micro-beam under electrostatic forces is studied. The FGM micro-beam is made of two materials and material properties vary continuously along the beam thickness according to a power-law.Dynamic and static pull-in voltages are obtained and it is shown that the static and dynamic pull-in voltages for some materials cannot be obtained using classic theories and components of couple stress must be taken into account. In addition,it is shown that the values of pull-in voltages depend on the variation through the thickness of the volume fractions of the two constituents.

This paper studies the contact vibration problem of an elastic half-space coated with functionally graded materials (FGMs) subject to a rigid spherical punch. A static force superimposing a dynamic time-harmonic force acts on the rigid spherical punch. Firstly, we give the static contact problem of FGMs by a least-square fitting approach. Next, the dynamic contact pressure is solved by employing the perturbation method. Lastly, the dynamic contact stiffness with different dynamic contact displacement conditions is derived for the FGM coated half-space. The effects of the gradient index, coating thickness, internal friction, and punch radius on the dynamic contact stiffness factor are discussed in detail.

We investigate the maximum correlation for Sarmanov bivariate distributions with fixed marginals and strengthen the existing results in the literature. The improvement in the maximum correlation is significant. A characterization of the Sarmanov distribution via chi-square divergence is also given. This extends Nelsen [13] result about the Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern (FGM) distribution.

This paper uses the four-variable refined plate theory (RPT) for the free vibration analysis of functionally graded material (FGM) sandwich rectangular plates.Unlike other theories, there are only four unknown functions involved, as compared to five in other shear deformation theories. The theory presented is variationally consistent and strongly similar to the classical plate theory in many aspects. It does not require the shear correction factor, and gives rise to the transverse shear stress variation so that the transverse shear stresses vary parabolically across the thickness to satisfy free surface conditions for the shear stress. Two common types of FGM sandwich plates are considered, namely, the sandwich with the FGM facesheet and the homogeneous core and the sandwich with the homogeneous facesheet and the FGM core. The equation of motion for the FGM sandwich plates is obtained based on Hamilton's principle. The closed form solutions are obtained by using the Navier technique. The fundamental frequencies are found by solving the eigenvalue problems. The validity of the theory is shown by comparing the present results with those of the classical, the first-order, and the other higher-ordex theories. The proposed theory is accurate and simple in solving the free vibration behavior of the FGM sandwich plates.

Thermal Buckling Analysis of FGM Sandwich Circular Plates Under Transverse Nonuniform Temperature Field Actions北大核心CSCD 下载免费PDF全文
Based on the von Kármán geometric nonlinear plate theory, the displacement⁃type geometric nonlinear governing equations for FGM sandwich circular plates under transverse nonlinear temperature field actions were derived. With the immovable clamped boundary condition, the analytical formula for dimensional critical buckling temperature differences of the system was obtained from the solution of the linear eigenvalue problem. Moreover, the 2⁃point boundary value problem of ordinary differential equations was solved with the shooting method. The effects of geometric parameters, constituent material properties, gradient indexes, temperature field parameters and layer⁃thickness ratios on the critical buckling temperature differences, the thermal postbuckling equilibrium paths, and the buckling equilibrium configurations of FGM sandwich circular plates, were investigated. The results show that, with the increases of the thickness⁃radius ratio, the relative thickness of the FGM layer and the gradient index, the FGM sandwich circular plate's critical buckling temperature difference will increase monotonically. Given a fixed radius and a fixed total thickness, the postbuckling deformation of the FGM sandwich circular plate will decrease significantly with the relative thickness of the FGM layer. © 2023 Editorial Office of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics. The main objective of this research work is to present analytical solutions for free vibration analysis of moderately thick rectangular plates, which are composed of functionally graded materials (FGMs) and supported by either Winkler or Pasternak elastic foundations. The proposed rectangular plates have two opposite edges simply-supported, while all possible combinations of free, simply-supported and clamped boundary conditions are applied to the other two edges. In order to capture fundamental frequencies of the functionally graded (FG) rectangular plates resting on elastic foundation, the analysis procedure is based on the first-order shear deformation plate theory (FSDT) to derive and solve exactly the equations of motion. The mechanical properties of the FG plates are assumed to vary continuously through the thickness of the plate and obey a power law distribution of the volume fraction of the constituents, whereas Poisson’s ratio is set to be constant. First, a new formula for the shear correction factors, used in the Mindlin plate theory, is obtained for FG plates. Then the excellent accuracy of the present analytical solutions is confirmed by making some comparisons of the results with those available in literature. The effect of foundation stiffness parameters on the free vibration of the FG plates, constrained by different combinations of classical boundary conditions, is also presented for various values of aspect ratios, gradient indices, and thickness to length ratios.
