Metabolomics techniques applied in the investigation of phenolic acids from the agro-industrial by-product of Carapa guianensis Aubl

Processing of Carapa guianensis seeds to obtain oil on an industrial scale generates a significant amount of by-product, approximately 66% w/w, which is called cake and is a potential source of biomolecules, including simple phenolic structures. For this reason, studies were carried out on the chemical profiles of hydrolyzed extract from this agro-industrial by-product through High Performance Thin-Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) and Gas Chromatography coupled to Mass Spectrometry (GC–MS). These techniques were used to detect metabolic classes and/or groups, and to identify, for the first time, thirteen simple phenolic acids in this by-product. The sample antioxidant capacity was determined by methods of 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH)and 2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt (ABTS⁺) radicals direct sequestration. The hydrolyzed fraction showed a total of 63.47% in the relative abundance of the total of compounds, standing out: p-hydroxybenzoic acid (39.19%) and protocatechuic acid (3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid) (5.62%), both from hydroxybenzoic acids and 3-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)lactic acid, (7.76%) hydroxycinnamic acids derivatives. In these results, the fraction rich in simple phenolic acids was obtained, attributing the prominent behavior of this matrix antioxidant activity, expressed by (IC₅₀: of 16.42 µg/mL and 6.52 µg/mL for DPPH and ABTS⁺ radicals, respectively). The research demonstrated an alternative to applicability that involves sustainability from agro-industrial. These techniques were used to detect metabolic classes and/or groups, and to identify, for the first time, thirteen simple phenolic acids in this by-product, generating a process capable of converting biomass into a bioproduct, consisting of bioactive compounds, in addition to adding value to the industrial chain.     

Synthesis under Micromave Irradition and Crystal Structure of 4''-Acetylbenzo-15 -crown-5thiosemicarbazone

The title compound is a bifunctional receptors including a thiourea group and a crown ether ring. Due to many possible potentials as a new class of reagents for membrane transports,ion-selective electrodes as well as reaction catalysts, the design and synthesis of bifunctional receptors for simultaneous binding of cations and anions is of ongoning interest in srprarnolecular chemistry1-5. In bifunctional receptors, the binding sites for anions and cations are covalently linked so as to exhibit allosteric or cooperative complexation where the binding affinity for anions(cations)is modified as a result of the cation(anion) complexation.Literature[6] reported that the ability of the thiourea group to bind anions is significantly enhanced when Na+ is bound to the crown moiety. To date, however only a few receptors of this class have been reported.6-8In this paper, we report an improved procedure under microwave irradiation that gives higher yields of title compound and needs fewer reaction times than traditional method.The structure of this compound was determined by IR ,element analysis and X-ray analysis.Scheme 1 The reaction equationThe crystal belongs to triclinic crystal system, P-1 space group, a=0.9547(0)nm, b=1.3637(3)nm,c=1.6029(3)nm, α =75.33(3) , β =83.62(3) , γ =70.99(3) ,Z=4,Dc=1.335g/cm3,F(000)=816,R1= 0.0557 ,wR2=0.1281. A one‐dimensional zinc(II) coordination polymer has been constructed from zinc(II), 4,4′‐biphenyldicarboxylate and pyridine in which each zinc(II) atom is coordinated by two pyridine ligands and two monodentate 4,4′‐biphenyldicarboxylate ligands that define a distorted tetrahedral geometry. Morphology and spectral properties of thin films of benzoxazole derivatives of biphenyl

We have studied the spectral properties and morphology of thin films (TVD films) formed by thermal vacuum deposition of 4,4′-bis[(E)-1-(1,3-benzoxazol-2-yl)-2-ethenyl]-1,1′-biphenyl and its substituted derivatives. We have shown that introducing bulky 2,2′-oxyhexyl substituents into the biphenyl units leads to a shift of the fluorescence maximum for the TVD films toward shorter wavelengths, a decrease in their photostability, and aggregation of the films during storage. __________ Translated from Zhurnal Prikladnoi Spektroskopii, Vol. 74, No. 3, pp. 300–303, May–June, 2007.
