Synthesis and complexing ability of 2-(2-ethoxycarbonyl-3-oxo-3-polyfluoroalkylprop-1-enylamino) benzoic acids

The condensation of ethyl 2-ethoxymethylidene-3-oxo-3-polyfluoroalkylpropionates with 2-aminobenzoic acid occurs at the ethoxymethylidene substituent and gives 2-(2-ethoxy-carbonyl-3-oxo-3-polyfluoroalkylprop-1-enylamino)benzoic acids. These compounds serve as new O,N,O-tridentate ligands capable of forming nickel(ii) and copper(ii) complexes.     

Reactions of 2-Arylhydrazono-1,3-dicarbonyl Compounds with Ethylenediamine

2-Arylhydrazono-1,3-diketones react with ethylenediamine to give, depending on the substituents, dihydro-1,4-diazepine derivative or N,N'-ethylenebis(1,3-aminovinyl ketones). Treatment of the latter with nickel(II) or copper(II) acetate results in formation of the corresponding metal chelates. Nickel complexes of N,N'-ethylenebis(1,3-aminovinyl ketones) can also be synthesized from 2-arylhydrazono-1,3-diketones and ethylenediamine on a metal template. Reactions of 2-arylhydrazono-3-oxo esters with ethylenediamine yield N,N'-ethylenebis(3-alkyl-2-arylhydrazono-3-oxopropionamides). Ethyl 2-arylhydrazonoacetoacetate reacts with ethylenediamine under mild conditions, affording ethyl 2-p-tolylazo-3-[2-(2-p-tolylhydrazono-1,3-dioxobutylamino)ethylamino]-2-butenoate.     

Reactions of Polyfluorinated 2-Arylhydrazono-3-oxocarboxylic Acid Esters with o-Phenylenediamine

Polyfluorinated 2-arylhydrazono-3-oxocarboxylic acid esters react with o-phenylenediamine in neutral medium to give mainly the corresponding o-aminoanilides which can be converted into 1,5-benzodi-azepin-2-ones. In the reactions with ethyl 2-arylhydrazono-3-oxobutanoate and its 4,4-di- and 4,4,4-trifluoro derivatives, ethyl 2-(2-benzimidazolyl)-2-[(4-methylphenyl)hydrazono]ethanoate is also formed.     

Reactions of alkyl 2-benzylidene-2-polyfluoroacylacetates with N,N-dinucleophiles

Alkyl 2-benzylidene-2-polyfluoroacylacetates react with urea and thiourea to yield 5-ethoxycarbonyl-4-fluoroalkyl-4-hydroxy-6-phenylhexahydropyrimidin-2-ones and -2-thiones and with guanidine sulfate to form 2-amino-5-ethoxycarbonyl-4-fluoroalkyl-6-phenyl-1,6-dihydropyrimidines and 3,6-diethoxycarbonyl-2,7-difluoroalkyl-4,5-diphenyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidines, and they react with phenylhydrazine to afford 4-alkoxycarbonyl-3-fluoroalkyl-3-hydroxy-1,5-diphenylpyrazolidines. Hydrazine hydrate catalyzes the formation of 3,5-diethoxycarbonyl-2,6-difluoroalkyl-2,6-dihydroxy-4-phenyltetrahydropyrans. When treated with anhydrous hydrazine and o-phenylenediamine, these esters cleave to form the products of condensation of fluoroacyl ester and benzaldehyde with diamines.     

Template reactions of fluorine-containing 1,3-diketones with ethylenediamine

Depending on the nature of the dicarbonyl fragment, the reaction of fluorinated copper(II) bis(1,3-diketonates) with ethylenediamine and its monoprotonated salts under mild conditions gives N,N-ethylenebis(aminovinyl ketones) and/or 1,4-diazepines. In excess ethylenediamine, copper(II) and nickel(II) N,N-ethylenebis(aminovinyl ketonates) undergo cyclization to 1,4-diazepines.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Seriya Khimicheskaya, No. 9, pp. 2088–2092, September, 1991.     

Structural and physicochemical characteristics of chelate nickel(II) compounds based on 1,2,3-triketone (hydrazone)imines

The crystal structures of the chelates Ni^IIL (L²⁻ are the N,N′-(o-phenylene)-bis[4-(4-methylphenyl)hydrazono-3-oxo-1,1,2,2-tetrafluorononane-5-iminate], N,N′-ethylene-bis[3-(4-methylphenyl)hydrazono-4-oxo-5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8-octafluorooctane-2-iminate], or N,N′-ethylene-bis(4-hydroxy-5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8-octafluoro-3-octene-2-iminate) anions) were studied by X-ray diffraction. Magnetic measurements and ESR spectroscopic studies revealed the appearance of paramagnetism due to a tetrahedral distortion of the coordination unit and also the unusual behavior of the effective magnetic moment at low temperatures. New Fluoroaryl-containing β,β'-Dioxoesters in the Synthesis of Fluorobenzopyran-2(4)-ones

For the first time were obtained ethyl 2-(2-methoxy-3,4,5,6-tetrafluorobenzoyl)-3-oxobutanoate and ethyl 2-pentafluorobenzoyl-3-oxobutanoate and their copper chelates. The compounds were prepared by acylation of ethyl acetoacetate with 2-methoxy-3,4,5,6-tetrafluoro- and pentafluorobenzoyl chlorides. Cyclization of these ,'-dioxoesters afforded substituted chromones. 2-Methyl-5-methoxy-6,7,8-trifluoro-3-ethoxycarbonylchromone hydrolyzes depending on reaction conditions either to 5-hydroxy-2-methyl-6,7,8-trifluorochromone or to 5-hydroxy-2-methyl-6,7,8-trifluorochromone-3-carboxylic acid. Reaction with morpholine provided 7-substituted product, and with aqueous ammonia as a result of rearrangement forms 3-acetimidoyl-4-hydroxy-5-methoxy-6,7,8-trifluorocoumarin. Hydrolysis of the latter yields 3-acetyl-4-hydroxy-5-methoxy-6,7,8-trifluorocoumarin.     

3-Methylidene-2,4-dioxo-4-pentafluorophenylbutanoates in the Synthesis of Heterocycles

3-Ethoxy- and 3-arylaminomethylidene-2,4-dioxo-4-pentafluorophenylbutanoates undergo cyclization by the action of hydrazine hydrate and phenylhydrazine to give ethyl 4-pentafluorobenzoylpyrazole-5-carboxylates. The reaction of 3-ethoxymethylidene-2,4-dioxo-4-pentafluorophenylbutanoate with o-phenylene-diamine leads to formation of 3-[2-(2-aminophenylamino)-1-pentafluorobenzoylethenyl]-1,2-dihydroquinoxa-lin-2-one. 3-Arylaminomethylidene-2,4-dioxo-4-pentafluorophenylbutanoates react with o-phenylenediamine to afford 3-(1-aryl-5,6,7,8-tetrafluoro-4-oxo-1,4-dihydroquinolin-3-yl)-1,2-dihydroquinoxalin-2-ones and/or 3-(2-arylamino-1-pentafluorobenzoylethenyl)-1,2-dihydroquinoxalin-2-ones.     

Synthesis,structure, and complexing ability of fluoroalkyl-containing 2,2′-(biphenyl-4,4′-diyldihydrazono)bis(1,3-dicarbonyl) compounds

New fluoroalkyl-containing 2,2′-(biphenyl-4,4′-diyldihydrazono)bis(1,3-diketones) and 2,2′-(biphenyl-4,4′-diyldihydrazono)bis(3-oxopropionates) were synthesized by azo coupling of the corresponding 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds with biphenyl-4,4′-bis(diazonium) dichloride. Complexing ability of the obtained bis-hydrazones was studied, and new coordination compounds of the general formula M₂L₂ [where M = Ni(II), Cu(II); L = fluoroalkyl-containing 2,2′-(biphenyl-4,4′-diyldihydrazono)bis(1,3-diketone)] were obtained.     

The novel approaches towards fluoroalkyl-containing heteroannulated pyrimidines

The review is focused on the synthesis of fluoroalkyl-containing heteroannulated pyrimidines via the reactions of alkyl 3-oxo-3-polyfluoroalkylpropionates and their ethoxymethylidene and 2-arylmethylidene derivatives with hetarylamines. Heteroannulation of polyfluoroalkyl-containing pyrimidines is also discussed.
