Synthesis of 5,6‐Diarylpyridin‐2(1H)‐ones from Isoflavones

A simple method for the cyclocondensation of substituted isoflavones with cyanoacetamide in the presence of sodium hydroxide to give an array of 3‐cyano‐5,6‐diarylpyridin‐2(1H)‐ones in good yields is reported.     

Design and fabrication of highly dispersive semiconductor double-chirped mirrors

We report on the development of semiconductor double-chirped mirrors with the group delay dispersion of ?3,800 ± 100 fs² in the wavelength range between 1,058 ÷ 1,064 nm and reflectivity of 99.1 %. The simplified plane-wave reflection transfer method was used to design the mirror multilayer stack. The mirror contains an epitaxial AlAs/GaAs structure topped with a SiNx antireflective layer.     

An unexpected reaction of trimethylsilyl fluorosulfonyldifluoroacetate (TFDA) with imidazoles. Formation of N-difluoromethylthioureas

A new reaction of the efficient difluorocarbene-generating reagent trimethylsilyl fluorosulfonyldifluoroacetate (TFDA) is reported in which molecules containing an N-alkylimidazole or benzimidazole structure undergo an unexpected one-pot conversion to N-difluoromethylthioureas. [reaction: see text].
