Cosmological term and twisting of space-time

A solution of the field equations in the Einstein-Cartan theory, describing a uniform isotropic distribution of spinning dust is obtained. Unlike the interpretations of previous authors, the resulting cosmological solution of this theory supports a chaotically disoriented distribution of particle spins. Further, nonzero square spin density terms remain after averaging (twisting). The analogy between the cosmological twisting of space-time and the Einstein -term is discussed. Synthesis of organocyclosiloxanes containing cyanoalkyl groups on the silicon atom

The cohydrolysis of-cyanoethyl- and-cyanopropylmethyldichlorosilanes with dimethyldichlorosilane has been studied and the optimum conditions ensuring the maximum yield of rings containing cyanoalhyl groups have been determined.B is(-cyanoethyl)hexamethylcyclotetrasiloxane,-cyanopropylpentamethylcyclotetrasiloxane, and bis(-cyanopropyl)hexamethylcyclotetrasiloxane have been obtained for the first time and characterized.     

Calculation of band structure and deformation potentials for phthalocyanines

Calculation was made of the electronic structure of copper and platinum phthalocyanine crystals, and their deformation potentials were determined. The calculation was carried out on an electronic computer using the following basic assumptions: Bloch wave functions; Hückel molecular orbitals; Slater atomic orbitals. The pattern of the band spectrum obtained was used qualitatively to explain some kinetic relationships recently observed in copper and platinum phthalocyanines.     

Porphyrins

Treatment of porphyrins or their copper complexes containing meso-dimethylaminomethyl or meso-dimethylformaldimino groups with lithium borohydride or diborane leads to the corresponding aminoborane derivatives. The reaction of the aminoboranes with trifluoroacetic acid was investigated, and trifluoroacetoxyborane complexes were isolated.     

Studies of adsorption-desorption processes in SO2 oxidation on the active component of vanadium catalysts

Diffusion and solubility coefficients of O₂, SO₂ and SO₃ in the active component of vanadium catalysts have been determined by a high-speed relaxation method. Processes of their dissolution are shown to be quasi-equilibrium with respect to catalytic reactions.

Electron beam-assisted cracking of synthetic paraffins

The electron beam-initiated cracking of a mixture of C₁₇–C₁₂₀ paraffins at 350–370°C has been studied. The cracking regime implied simultaneous feedstock irradiation and rapid distillation of fragmentation products from the irradiation zone. The distillate was a mixture of 61.5 wt % alkanes and 38.5 wt % alkenes. The product molecule contained on average 13 carbon atoms. The gasoline fraction in the condensate was 32.3 wt %. It was demonstrated that the product composition can be changed depending on the geometric parameters of reaction equipment and temperature distribution at the reactor outlet.     

Centimeter- and millimeter-wavelength matched loads based on microwave photonic crystals

Novel, small-sized broadband matched loads in the form of disordered photonic crystals containing nanometer metallic and insulating layers have been developed. It has been proposed to form insulating layers with different permittivities and low dissipation factors in both centimeter and millimeter wavelength ranges from the composites that consist of insulating matrices filled with air inclusions.
