The succinct synthesis of AT13387, a clinically relevant Hsp90 inhibitor

AT13387 is an orally bioavailable clinical candidate developed to inhibit heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90). This article describes a modified synthetic route for the multi-gram production of AT13387 in 46% overall yield. The modified synthetic route is short, avoids stringent reaction conditions and difficult purifications, which led to an increase in overall yield.     

Esterification in dry Media Using Ferric Perchlorate Adsorbed on Silica Gel

Comparative evaluation of heuristic algorithms for the single machine scheduling problem with two operations per job and time-lags

This paper shows that the single machine scheduling problem with multiple operations per job separated by minimum specified time-lags is NP-hard in the strong sense. Seven simple and polynomially bounded heuristic algorithms are developed for its solution when each job requires only two operations. Empirical evaluation shows that the percentage deviation of the heuristic solutions from their lower bounds is quite low and the effectiveness of these heuristic algorithms in finding optimal schedules increases with an increase in the number of jobs.     

Weighted composition operators on weighted Bergman spaces of bounded symmetric domains

In this paper, we study the weighted compositon operators on weighted Bergman spaces of bounded symmetric domains. The necessary and sufficient conditions for a weighted composition operator W _φψ to be bounded and compact are studied by using the Carleson measure techniques. In the last section, we study the Schatten p-class weighted composition operators.     

Novel Synthesis of a 2H-1,2-Benzothiazine -1,1-Dioxide Derivative

We report a novel synthesis of 4-chloro-2-cyclohexyl-6,7-dimethoxy-2H-1,2-benzothiazine-1,1-dioxide 6 from 3,4-dimethoxychalcone 1. Chlorosulfonation of 1 followed by amination, then epoxidation under basic conditions with immediate elimination of the benzoyl group and electrophilic chlorination resulted in 6. A mechanism is suggested.     

Neutral currents in left-right symmetric gauge models

We analyse all the neutral-current phenomena following from the general class of gauge models based on the group SU(2) _L ⊗ SU(2) _R ⊗ U(1). It is found that the neutral-current couplings in these models bear a remarkable similarity to those in the standard Weinberg-Salam gauge model. The parameter which plays the role of sin²ϑ_w is found to lie between 0 and 1/2. Comparison with experimental data shows that even a model with the ratio of the masses of the twoZ bosons as small as 1.9 is not ruled out.     

Conformational Transitions in <Emphasis Type="Italic">Ariesaema curvatum</Emphasis> Lectin: Characterization of an Acid Induced Active Molten Globule

Biophysical characterization of a lectin from Ariesaema curvatum (ACL) was carried out using steady state as well as time resolved fluorescence and CD spectroscopy under various denaturing conditions. An intermediate with altered tryptophan microenvironment was detected in the phase diagram, which exibited pronounced secondary structure and hemagglutinating activity in presence of 0.25 M Gdn–HCl. An acid induced molten- globule like structure possessing activity and higher thermostability was detected. Transition to the molten globule state was reversible in nature. The lectin retained hemagglutinating activity even after incubation at 95 °C. Both chemical and thermal unfolding of the lectin were found to consist of multistate processes. Fluorescence quenching of ACL was strong with acrylamide and KI. The single tryptophan was found to be surrounded by high density of the positively charged amino acid residues as shown by a ten fold higher K_sv for KI compared to that for CsCl. The average lifetime of tryptophan fluorescence increased from 1.24 ns in the native state to 1.72 ns in the denatured state.
