A note on CIP varieties

It is proved that every variety satisfying the Congruence Intersection Property (CIP) is Abelian. In addition, a CM Abelian variety has the CIP if and only if it has a constant term operation. Finally, a CM variety is Abelian if and only if it has the weak CIP. Received October 8, 1998; accepted in final form January 5, 1999.     

Ab initio molecular orbital study of potential energy surface for the H2NO(B1)→NO(Π)+H2 reaction

The mechanism of the H₂NO(²B₁)→NO(²Π)+H₂ reaction has been examined using ab initio molecular orbital methods. Ground-state and first-excited-state potential surfaces were plotted at the FOCI/cc-pVTZ level of theory as functions of two appropriate internal degrees of freedom. A conical intersection was found on the C_s pathway that is symmetric with respect to the plane perpendicular to the molecular plane of C_2v H₂NO(²B₁). It is therefore considered that trajectories that start from H₂NO(²B₁) towards the product region detour around the conical intersection, pass through the neighborhood of the transition state that is located at the saddle point on the C_s pathway, and finally reach the products, NO(²Π)+H₂. Thus we can explain the mechanism of the H₂NO(²B₁)→NO(²Π)+H₂ reaction, which has remained unclear to date.     

微分周形式与稀疏微分结式

代数周(Chow)形式和代数结式是代数几何的基本概念,同时还是消去理论的强大工具.一个自然的想法是在微分代数几何中发展相应的周形式和结式理论.但是由于微分结构的复杂性,在本文的研究工作之前,微分结式只有部分结果,而微分周形式与稀疏微分结式理论一直没有得到发展.本文的主要结果包括:第一,发展一般(generic)情形的微分相交理论,作为应用,证明一般情形的微分维数猜想.第二,初步建立微分周形式理论.对不可约微分代数簇定义微分周形式并证明其基本性质,特别地,给出微分周形式的Poisson分解公式,引入微分代数簇的主微分次数这一不变量并证明一类微分代数闭链的周簇和周坐标的存在性.作为应用,首次严格定义微分结式,证明其基本性质.第三,初步建立稀疏微分结式理论.引入Laurent微分本性系统的概念,定义稀疏微分结式,证明其基本性质,特别地,引入微分环面簇的概念,给出稀疏微分结式阶数和次数界的估计,并基于此给出计算稀疏微分结式的单指数时间算法.     

ON INTERSECTIONS OF INDEPENDENT NONDEGENERATE DIFFUSION PROCESSES

Let X(1)= {X(1)(s), s ∈ R+ } and X(2)= {X(2)(t), t ∈ R+ } be two independent nondegenerate diusion processes with values in Rd. The existence and fractal dimension of intersections of the sample paths of X(1)and X(2)are studied. More generally, let E1, E2 ■(0, ∞) and F  Rd be Borel sets. A necessary condition and a suffcient condition for P{X(1)(E1) ∩ X(2)(E2) ∩ F = φ} 0 are proved in terms of the Bessel-Riesz type capacity and Hausdor measure of E1 ×E2 ×F in the metric space(R+ ×R+ ×Rd, ρ), where ρ is an unsymmetric metric defined in R+ × R+ × Rd. Under reasonable conditions, results resembling those of Browian motion are obtained.     

Some applications of cross-section measures in Minkowski spaces

Summary The purpose of this paper is to establish extremal values for inner and outer radii of the unit ball of a Minkowski space for the Holmes--Thompson and Busemann measures. Furthermore, we confirm a conjecture of C. A. Rogers and G. C. Shephard on ellipsoids.     

Best Approximation and Perturbation Property in Hilbert Spaces

We study the perturbation property of best approximation to a set defined by an abstract nonlinear constraint system. We show that, at a normal point, the perturbation property of best approximation is equivalent to an equality expressed in terms of normal cones. This equality is related to the strong conical hull intersection property. Our results generalize many known results in the literature on perturbation property of best approximation established for a set defined by a finite system of linear/nonlinear inequalities. 具有相交性质的近小扭转映射的不变环面的保持性

In this paper we investigate the nearly small twist mappings with intersection property. With a certain non-degenerate condition, we proved that the most of invariant tori of the original small twist mappings will survive afer small perturtations. The persisted invariant tori are close to the unperturbed ones when the perturbation are small. The orbits reduced by those mappings are quasi-periodic in the invariant tori with the frequences closing to the original ones.     

Geometric Generalization of the Exponential Law

For the multivariate ℓ₁-norm symmetric distributions, which are generalizations of the n-dimensional exponential distribution with independent marginals, a geometric representation formula is given, together with some of its basic properties. This formula can especially be applied to a new developed and statistically well motivated system of sets. From that the distribution of a t-statistic adapted for the two-parameter exponential distribution and its generalizations is determined. Asymptotic normality of this adapted t-statistic is shown under certain conditions.
