Electrocatalytic Oxidation of Hydroquinone and Pyrocatechol at an Electrode Modified with a Polyvinyl Pyridine Film with Electrodeposited Rhodium and Its Use in the Analysis of Pharmaceuticals

The electrochemical properties of a glassy-carbon electrode modified with a polyvinyl pyridine film with electrodeposited rhodium were studied. It was found that the electrodeposited rhodium particles exhibit electrocatalytic activity in the oxidation of hydroquinone and pyrocatechol. The catalytic effect manifested itself as a multiple increase in the saturation current of an organic compound. The modified electrode was used for determining adrenalin, noradrenaline, and dopamine bearing a pyrocatechol fragment in their structure in pharmaceuticals.     

Galvanostatic Coulometric Determination of Aromatic Amine Derivatives in Pharmaceutical Preparations Using Electrochemically Generated Bromine

Procedures were developed for the coulometric determination of aromatic amine derivatives in model solutions and pharmaceutical preparations (anaesthesine, novocaine, novocainamide, paracetamol, streptocid, sulgin, sodium sulfacyl, ethazole, sulfadimezine, norsulfazole, and sulfamethoxazole) using electrochemically generated bromine with RSD of 1 to 5%. The stoichiometric coefficients of reactions were determined, and possible mechanisms were proposed for the reactions of bromine with the above preparations.     

Biochemical Tests Based on Stabilized Cholinesterase Preparations: New Approaches

New approaches to the application of colorimetric tests based on stabilized cholinesterase preparations were considered. These approaches broaden the spectrum of analytes and improve the sensitivity and selectivity of the determination of enzyme effectors. They consist of the electrochemical modification of an analyte, the use of competitive binding sites (substituted calexarenes), and the application of tests for the generalized assessment of environmental pollution with mobile species of heavy metals.     

Electronic structure and coordination to DNA fragments for coordination compounds of Cu(II) with amino-acids of composition CuA′A″

The MWH method has been used in calculations on the electronic structures of compounds of copper(II) with -amino-acids CuGLY(L-Ser), Cu(L-Alan)(L-Ser), CuGly₂·H₂O, as well as for the free amino-acids: alanine, glycine, and serine. The proper energies and eigenvectors have been derived together with the charges on the atoms, which indicate the mode of coordination in these systems with DNA fragments involving the formation of sandwich complexes, and this provides a qualitative explanation of the differences in antitumor activity between these compounds.Translated, from Teoreticheskaya i'Éksperimental'naya; Khimiya, No. 3, pp. 351–356, May–June, 1985.
