New property of the fullerenes: the anomalously effective quenching of electronically excited states owing to energy transfer to the C<Subscript>70</Subscript> and C<Subscript>60</Subscript> molecules

The quenching of the electronically excited states of various energy donors—Tb³⁺; 9,10-anthracene dibromide; and adamantanone—by C₇₀ fullerene has been detected and analyzed. The quenching is characterized by anomalously high biomolecular quenching rate constants, which are obtained from the Stern-Volmer dependences of the energy-donor photoluminescence intensity on the concentration of the C₇₀ molecules. It has been shown that the high efficiency of quenching by the C₇₀ fullerene as compared to the C₆₀ fullerene is due to the higher polarizability of the C₇₀ molecule and large overlap integrals of the energy-donor photoluminescence spectra with the absorption spectrum of the C₇₀ fullerene.

Testing prototypes of high-temperature superconducting current leads of cryogenic stand for testing magnetic elements of the NICA accelerating complex

In the Laboratory of High Energies at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, as part of the NICA-MPD [1] project, tests of two prototypes of HTSC current leads prepared at ASIPP institute (Hefei, China) have been performed [2, 3] to measure electric and heat parameters and to search for structural and physical drawbacks. Based on the experimental results, necessary changes are made in the structure of HTSC current leads of the testing stand for the magnetic element testing of the NICA accelerating complex and its basic setups: the Nuclotron, Booster, and Collider.

Soluble luminescent complexes of divalent lanthanides, LnCl₂·xTHF (Ln = Eu, Yb, and Sm), were obtained for the first time by reduction of Ln^III to Ln^II in reactions of the lanthanide trichloride hexahydrates LnCl₃·6H₂O with Buⁱ ₂AlH in THF. The photoluminescence spectra and other spectral characteristics of LnCl₂·xTHF were examined.

Rhenium(V) methylmercaptobenzimidazole complexes

Reactivity of fullerene C60 towards peroxy radicals generated by liquid-phase oxidation of cumene and ethylbenzene with oxygen

The inhibiting action of fullerene C₆₀ on the liquid-phase initiated oxidation of cumene and ethylbenzene was studied. The apparent rate constants of inhibition by fullerene C₆₀ of cumene and ethylbenzene oxidation were determined by measuring the amount of absorbed oxygen: (1.3±0.2)·10³ and (2.0±0.3)·10³ L mol^?1 s^?1, respectively.
