Phytochemical investigation of the plant Clerodendrum phlomidis Linn. F. (Lamiaceae) has now led to the isolation of two new flavonoid glycosides (1, 2) together with six known compounds identified as pectolinaringenin (3), pectolinaringenin-7-O-β-d-glucopyranoside (4), 24β-ethylcholesta-5,22E,25-triene-3β-ol (5), 24β-ethylcholesta-5,22E,25-triene-3β-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (6), (2S,3S,4R,10E)-2-[(2′R)-2′-hydroxytetracosanoylamino]-10-octadecene-1,3,4-triol (7) and andrographolide (8) mainly by spectroscopic analysis. 2‐Acylated 2,3,1‐benzodiazaborines can display unusual structures and reactivities. The crystal structure analysis of the boron heterocycle obtained by condensing 2‐formylphenylboronic acid and picolinohydrazide reveals it to be an N→B‐chelated zwitterionic tetracycle (systematic name: 1‐hydroxy‐11‐oxo‐9,10,17λ5‐triaza‐1λ4‐boratetracyclo[8.7.0.02,7.012,17]heptadeca‐3,5,7,12,14,16‐hexaen‐17‐ylium‐1‐uide), C13H10BN3O2, produced by the intramolecular addition of the Lewis basic picolinoyl N atom of 1‐hydroxy‐2‐(pyridin‐2‐ylcarbonyl)benzo[d][1,2,3]diazaborinine to the boron heterocycle B atom acting as a Lewis acid. Neither of the other two pyridinylcarbonyl isomers (viz. nicotinoyl and isonicotinoyl) are able to adopt such a structure for geometric reasons. A favored yet reversible chelation equilibrium provides an explanation for the slow D2O exchange observed for the OH resonance in the 1H NMR spectrum, as well as for its unusual upfield chemical shift. (1RS,2SR,3RS,4SR,5RS)‐2,4‐Dibenzoyl‐1,3,5‐triphenylcyclohexan‐1‐ol or (4‐hydroxy‐2,4,6‐triphenylcyclohexane‐1,3‐diyl)bis(phenylmethanone), C38H32O3, (1), is formed as a by‐product in the NaOH‐catalyzed synthesis of 1,3,5‐triphenylpentane‐1,5‐dione from acetophenone and benzaldehyde. Single crystals of the chloroform hemisolvate, C38H32O3·0.5CHCl3, were grown from chloroform. The structure has triclinic (P) symmetry. One diastereomer [as a pair of (1RS,2SR,3RS,4SR,5RS)‐enantiomers] of (1) has been found in the crystal structure and confirmed by NMR studies. The dichoromethane hemisolvate has been reported previously [Zhang et al. (2007). Acta Cryst. E 63 , o4652]. (1RS,2SR,3RS,4SR,5RS)‐2,4‐Dibenzoyl‐3,5‐bis(2‐methoxyphenyl)‐1‐phenylcyclohexan‐1‐ol or [4‐hydroxy‐2,6‐bis(2‐methoxyphenyl)‐4‐phenylcyclohexane‐1,3‐diyl]bis(phenylmethanone), C40H36O5, (2), is also formed as a by‐product, under the same conditions, from acetophenone and 2‐methoxybenzaldehyde. Crystals of (2) have been grown from chloroform. The structure has orthorhombic (Pca21) symmetry. A diastereomer of (2) possesses the same configuration as (1). In both structures, the cyclohexane ring adopts a chair conformation with all bulky groups (benzoyl, phenyl and 2‐methoxyphenyl) in equatorial positions. Invited for this month''s cover picture is the group of Professor Mark Peczuh at the University of Connecticut. The cover picture compares the rearrangement of a small molecule to the process of turning a stuffed animal inside out. The recycled, inside-out stuffed animals are both artistic and philosophically provocative. They capture the essence of the rearrangement reaction because the compounds themselves turn inside out over the course of the reaction, extending the diversity of products that can arise from simple starting materials. Small molecules often have functional groups with latent reactivity; under the appropriate conditions, those groups can react with other compounds (e.g., reagents) and also with other groups in the same molecule in an intramolecular reaction. The research team found that the epoxidation of some highly functionalized spiroketal compounds promoted rearrangements of their structures that turned them inside out. Some of the features of the products led them to use X-ray crystallography or a combination of computer-assisted structure elucidation, computation, and a new version of the 1,1-ADEQUATE NMR experiment to determine their structures. The complexation of metal cations into a host–guest situation is particularly well exemplified by [2.2.2]paracyclophane and AgI, which leads to a strong cation–π interaction with a specific face of the host molecule. Through this study we sought a deeper understanding of the effects the metal center has on the NMR spectroscopic properties of the prototypical organic host, generating theoretical reasons for the observed experimental results with an aim to determine the role of the cation–π interaction in a host–guest scenario. From an analysis of certain components of the induced magnetic field and the 13C NMR shielding tensor under its own principal axis system (PAS), the local and overall magnetic behavior can be clearly described. Interestingly, the magnetic response of such a complex exhibits a large axis-dependent behavior, which leads to an overall shielding effect for the coordinating carbon atoms and a deshielding effect for the respective uncoordinated counterparts, evidence that complements previous experimental results. This proposed approach can be useful to gain further insight into the local and overall variation of NMR shifts for host–guest pairs involving both inorganic and organic hosts. 相似文献

Hyperpolarization is an emerging method that dramatically enhances NMR signal intensity. As a result of their increased sensitivity, hyperpolarized (HP) NMR molecular probes can be used to perform time‐resolved spectroscopy and imaging in vitro and in vivo. It is, however, challenging to design such probes de novo. Herein, the [1‐13C]α‐amino acid is reported as a scaffold structure to design HP 13C NMR molecular probes. The [1‐13C]α‐amino acid can be converted to various HP 13C chemical probes that show sufficient chemical shift change by altering the chemical state of the α nitrogen upon interaction with the target. Several previously reported HP probes could be explained by this design principle. To demonstrate the versatility of this approach, two α‐amino‐acid‐based HP 13C chemical probes, sensitive to pH and Ca2+ ion, were developed and used to detect targets. 相似文献

The self‐assembly process of a Pd12L24 sphere was revealed by a quantitative approach (quantitative analysis of self‐assembly process: QASAP) quantifying all the substrates, the products, and the observable intermediates, indicating that the Pd12L24 sphere is produced through several pathways. Firstly, Pdn L2n (n= 6, 8, and 9), which are perfectly closed structures smaller than the Pd12L24 sphere, and a mixture of intermediates not observed by NMR ( Int ) were produced. Next, the sphere was assembled from intra‐/intermolecular reaction of a certain class of Int (path A) and from the coordination of free pyridyl groups in Int to the PdII center of Pdn L2n (n= 6, 8, and 9) (path B). While capping the free pyridyl groups in Int with PdII ions perfectly inhibited the sphere formation, the addition of free L to Int accelerated the formation of the sphere. 相似文献

Nitrogen‐centered urazole radicals exist in equilibrium with tetrazane dimers in solution. The equilibrium established typically favors the free‐radical form. However, 1‐arylurazole radicals bearing substituents at the ortho position favor the dimeric form. We were able to determine the structure of one of the dimers (substituted at both ortho positions with methyl groups), namely 1,2‐(2,4‐dimethylphenyl)‐2‐[2‐(2,4‐dimethylphenyl)‐4‐methyl‐3,5‐dioxo‐1,2,4‐triazolidin‐1‐yl]‐4‐methyl‐1,2,4‐triazolidine‐3,5‐dione, C24H28N6O4, via X‐ray crystallography. The experimentally determined structure agreed well with the computationally obtained geometry at the B3LYP/6‐311G(d,p) level of theory. The preferred syn conformation of these 1‐arylurazole dimers results in the two aromatic rings being proximate and nearly parallel, which leads to some interesting shielding effects of certain signals in the 1H NMR spectrum. Armed with this information, we were able to decipher the more complicated 1H NMR spectrum obtained from a dimer that was monosubstituted at the ortho position with a methyl group. 相似文献
