The computation of radiation transmittance in nongray, inhomogeneous atmospheric models is frequently complicated by complex bands of line spectra which range in value over many orders of magnitudes and depend strongly on either or both of pressure and temperature. We present here a new opacity sampling technique which is shown to determine correctly the wavelength-averaged extinction due to path-dependent realizations of banded line spectra. The technique is easy to implement computationally and is applicable to a wide variety of atmospheric problems in which frequent iteration of the radiative transfer model is required. We consider two such instances: modeling of solar flux attenuation for use in a time-dependent planetary ionosphere model and retrieval from nadir measurements of backscattered solar irradiance. The power of the new method lies in its straightforward analytical treatment of both atmospheric inhomogeneity and spectral complexity. It is thus relevant for both retrieval and radiative transfer modeling purposes.  相似文献

In this paper an argument is presented in favor of utilizing felicitous or natural coordinates in the model formulation of complex hybrid parameter multiple body mechanical systems (HPMBS). Specifically for this paper, HPMBS that consist of continuua that are subjected to spatially and temporally varying non-holonomic boundary conditions. This is the second paper of a two part series of papers that is presented to clarify the novelty and usefulness of a recently developed Gibbs-Appell type projection based HPMBS modeling tool. The purpose of the paper is to show that with the novel use of pseudo-coordinates and speeds (as defined by the author) it is completely natural to provide minimal configuration space dimensionality yet still retain rigorous analytical formulation tractability.Presented in this work, as a demonstrative arguing point, is the development of the hybrid parameter motion equations for a rolling flexible-disk material cutting device. This device consists of a circular flexible continuum (the cutter) along with the requisite mounting rigid hub and handle. This non-holonomically constrained device is modeled executing spatial motion constrained to the plane via moving constraints applied to the boundary of the planar continuum. Also included in this work are numerical results bolstering the claims made herein. These numerical results demonstrate that the methodology elucidated provides low-order models suitable for modeling complicated devices. These low-order models are in contrast to the current modeling trend of ever-increasing degrees of freedom.  相似文献

Tumour cells have to acquire a number of capabilities if a neoplasm is to become a cancer. One of these key capabilities is increased motility which is needed for invasion of other tissues and metastasis. This paper presents a qualitative mathematical model based on game theory and computer simulations using cellular automata. With this model we study the circumstances under which mutations that confer increased motility to cells can spread through a tumour made of rapidly proliferating cells. The analysis suggests therapies that could help prevent the progression towards malignancy and invasiveness of benign tumours.  相似文献

The first and last melting points (FLMP) method was employed to measure the melting temperature–composition (T–wTw) data at solid–liquid–gas (SLG) equilibrium for the naphthalene–biphenyl–CO2 system. Results show that the system's phase diagram is simple eutectic under all investigated pressures (0.1, 3.0, 6.0 and 8.0 MPa), and the system's eutectic composition is almost constant. The (T–wTw) data measured with a high-pressure differential scanning calorimetry are in good agreement with these from FLMP. The semi-predictive model using solubility data (SMS) and the calculation model combining with GE models (CMG) for binary systems were extended to this ternary system. For the SMS model, the Peng–Robinson equation of state (PR-EoS) with the van der Waals one-fluid mixing rule was used to correlate the solubility data of the two solutes in CO2 to obtain the two interaction parameters k12 and k13 and calculate the fugacity coefficients of the solutes in the liquid and vapor phases; the UNIFAC method was also applied to the activity coefficient of the solutes in the liquid phase. For the CMG model, the PR-EoS combining respectively the MHV1, LCVM, and modified LCVM (mLCVM) mixing rules was applied to the fugacity coefficients of the solutes. Results show that the CMG model with MHV1 gives the best prediction of the system's SLG equilibrium, while the SMS model and the CMG model with mLCVM provide comparable and acceptable results.  相似文献

The private car license plates issued in Shanghai are bestowed the title of “the most expensive sheet iron all over the world”, more expensive than gold. A citizen has to bid in a monthly auction to obtain a license plate for his new private car. We perform statistical analysis to investigate the influence of the minimal price Pmin of the bidding winners, the quota of private car license plates, the number of bidders, as well as two external shocks including the legality debate of the auction in 2004 and the auction regime reform in January 2008 on the average price of all bidding winners. It is found that the legality debate of the auction had marginal transient impact on the average price in a short time period. In contrast, the change of the auction rules has significant permanent influence on the average price, which reduces the price by about 3020 yuan Renminbi. It means that the average price exhibits nonlinear behaviors with a regime change. The evolution of the average price is independent of the number of bidders in both regimes. In the early regime before January 2008, the average price was influenced only by the minimal price Pmin in the preceding month with a positive correlation. In the current regime since January 2008, the average price is positively correlated with the minimal price and the quota in the preceding month and negatively correlated with the quota in the same month. We test the predictive power of the two models using 2-year and 3-year moving windows and find that the latter outperforms the former. It seems that the auction market becomes more efficient after the auction reform since the prediction error increases.  相似文献

The sooting behaviour of binary fuel mixtures was evaluated both experimentally and through computer simulations. The soot volume fraction in laminar diffusion flames of mixtures of ethylene/propane, methane/ethylene, methane/propane, methane/ethane, methane/butane, ethane/propane and ethane/ethylene fuels was measured using 2-dimensional line of sight attenuation. A synergistic effect was observed for the ethylene/propane, methane/ethylene, methane/ethane and ethane/ethylene mixtures. The synergistic effect translated into a higher soot concentration for a mixture fraction than could be yielded by the added contribution of both pure fuels. Such an effect was not observed for the methane/propane, methane/butane and ethane/propane mixtures. Through experiments in which the flame temperature was kept constant, it was determined that the synergistic effect in the methane/ethylene mixture is very temperature dependent whereas, that in the ethylene/propane mixture is not. This phenomenon was further studied through the modeling of the ethylene/propane mixture. Numerical simulations were carried out using two different soot models. The simulations confirmed the presence of a synergistic effect. It was found that the effect could be directly correlated to a synergistic effect in the concentration of n-C4H5 and n-C4H3, which could be traced back to an interaction between ethylene and methyl radical species. These results yield further insight into the pathways to soot formation and highlight the importance of further analyzing binary fuel mixtures as a means of understanding soot formation in practical devices using industrial fuels.  相似文献

This paper proposes a novel mathematical model for chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) based on interface solid physical and chemical theory in addition to energy equilibrium knowledge. And the effects of oxidation concentration and particle size on the material removal in CMP are investigated. It is shown that the mechanical energy and removal cohesive energy couple with the particle size, and being a cause of the non-linear size-removal rate relation. Furthermore, it also shows a nonlinear dependence of removal rate on removal cohesive energy. The model predictions are in good qualitative agreement with the published experimental data. The current study provides an important starting point for delineating the micro-removal mechanism in the CMP process at atomic scale.  相似文献

Frequency response of passive optical network (PON) based on multimode fibers is investigated. The network comprises fibers, connectors and splitters/couplers.
