Behavior of semiconductors in an SHF electric field

Conclusions These experimental results have shown that when an shf electric field is applied to a small semiconducting sample there is a redistribution of free carriers in the sample, which results in an increase in the carrier concentration near the sample boundaries and a decrease in the center. Carrier trapping at the sample surface has a pronounced effect on this redistribution.Since the carrier redistribution and trapping at the surface may significantly affect the characteristics of several practical devices in which small semiconducting samples are used, it is worthwhile to pursue the theoretical and experimental study of this behavior.Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii Fizika, No. 10, pp. 7–11, October, 1970.     

Freeze-out conditions in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions

We present recent results on single particle transverse momentum distributions of pions, kaons and protons, measured in CERN Experiment NA44, of 200 AGeV/c S+S and 158 AGeV/c Pb+Pb central collisions. By comparing these data with thermal and transport models, freeze-out parameters like the temperatureT _fo and the chemical potentials (μ _q ,μ _s ) are extracted and discussed.     

Theory of relaxation due to spin-exchange collisions

A general method is developed for the evaluation of the relaxation rates due to spin-exchange collisions. For the case where nuclear spin I = $\text{1}\text{2}$, all the relaxation rates are found, account being taken of the hyperfine and Zeeman interactions. The present theory can be applied to the following systems: (1) H + H, (2) H + a different electron-spin-$\text{1}\text{2}$ atom, and (3) H + H₂.     

Configurations in finite projective planes
