The newly found ternary compound NdNiMg5 has been studied within DFT based methodologies. Results of cohesive energy, charge transfers, elastic constants and electron localized function mapping as well as electronic structure and bonding properties have been compared with those of isostructural binary NdNi. The calculation results have shown that Mg substructures interlayering NdNi – like slabs exhibit different magnitudes of charge transfers all within range of metallic behavior and the different Mg substructures selectively bind with Nd and Ni substructures. As a consequence an enhanced cohesion with respect to binary intermetallic NdNi is identified. The whole set of elastic constants and their combinations in orthorhombic symmetry confirm the mechanical stability of NdNiMg5 with larger compressibility and less ductility (more brittleness) with respect substructures to NdNi. While in an intermetallic compound such as NdNi the bonding is ensured mainly by Nd–Ni interaction, in NdNiMg5 Nd–Ni, Nd–Mg, Ni–Mg as well as Mg–Mg participate to the bonding and the extra electrons brought by Mg are found within bonding states thus illustrating furthermore the enhanced cohesion of the ternary versus the binary systems. 相似文献

Sonogashira coupling of buta-1,3-diynylbenzene with ((2-iodophenyl)ethynyl)trimethylsilane and 1,2-diiodobenzene led to the novel enetriyne, 1-ethynyl-2-(phenylbuta-1,3-diynyl)benzene, and enetetrayne, 1,2-bis(phenylbuta-1,3-diynyl)benzene, respectively. Solid state structural and thermal analyses are also described. Quantification, characterization and biofunctional studies of N-glycans on proteins remain challenging tasks due to the complexity, diversity and low abundance of these glycans. The availability of structurally defined N-glycan (especially isomer) libraries is essential to help solve these tasks. We report herein an efficient chemoenzymatic strategy, namely Core Synthesis/Enzymatic Extension (CSEE), for rapid production of diverse N-glycans. Starting with 5 chemically prepared building blocks, 8 N-glycan core structures containing one or two terminal N-acetyl-d-glucosamine (GlcNAc) residue(s) were chemically synthesized via consistent use of oligosaccharyl thioethers as glycosylation donors in a convergent fragment coupling strategy. Each of these core structures was then extended to 5 to 15 N-glycan sequences by enzymatic reactions catalyzed by 4 robust glycosyltransferases. Success in synthesizing N-glycans with Neu5Gc and core-fucosylation further expanded the ability of the enzymatic extension. Meanwhile, high performance liquid chromatography with an amide column enabled rapid and efficient purification (>98% purity) of N-glycans in milligram scales. A total of 73 N-glycans (63 isomers) were successfully prepared and characterized by MS2 and NMR. In summary, the CSEE strategy provides a practical approach for “mass production” of structurally defined N-glycans, which are important standards and probes for glycoscience. 相似文献

We establish a combinatorial connection between the real geometry and the K-theory of complex Schubert curves \(S(\lambda _\bullet )\), which are one-dimensional Schubert problems defined with respect to flags osculating the rational normal curve. In Levinson (One-dimensional Schubert problems with respect to osculating flags, 2016, doi: 10.4153/CJM-2015-061-1), it was shown that the real geometry of these curves is described by the orbits of a map \(\omega \) on skew tableaux, defined as the commutator of jeu de taquin rectification and promotion. In particular, the real locus of the Schubert curve is naturally a covering space of \({\mathbb {RP}}^1\), with \(\omega \) as the monodromy operator. We provide a fast, local algorithm for computing \(\omega \) without rectifying the skew tableau and show that certain steps in our algorithm are in bijective correspondence with Pechenik and Yong’s genomic tableaux (Pechenik and Yong in Genomic tableaux, 2016. arXiv:1603.08490), which enumerate the K-theoretic Littlewood–Richardson coefficient associated to the Schubert curve. Permutations that avoid given patterns are among the most classical objects in combinatorics and have strong connections to many fields of mathematics, computer science and biology. We describe NIMBLE, a system for programming statistical algorithms for general model structures within R. NIMBLE is designed to meet three challenges: flexible model specification, a language for programming algorithms that can use different models, and a balance between high-level programmability and execution efficiency. For model specification, NIMBLE extends the BUGS language and creates model objects, which can manipulate variables, calculate log probability values, generate simulations, and query the relationships among variables. For algorithm programming, NIMBLE provides functions that operate with model objects using two stages of evaluation. The first stage allows specialization of a function to a particular model and/or nodes, such as creating a Metropolis-Hastings sampler for a particular block of nodes. The second stage allows repeated execution of computations using the results of the first stage. To achieve efficient second-stage computation, NIMBLE compiles models and functions via C++, using the Eigen library for linear algebra, and provides the user with an interface to compiled objects. The NIMBLE language represents a compilable domain-specific language (DSL) embedded within R. This article provides an overview of the design and rationale for NIMBLE along with illustrative examples including importance sampling, Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) and Monte Carlo expectation maximization (MCEM). The Lamiaceae family is an important source of species among medicinal plants highly valued for their biological properties and numerous uses in folk medicine. Origanum is one of the main genera that belong to this family. The purpose of the study was to determine the phenolic composition of the Origanum vulgare extract and evaluate the antimicrobial, antioxidant, and inhibitory activities of this species that grows in the Andean region of the Atacama Desert. High-performance liquid chromatography was performed to determine the main phenols. Rosmarinic acid was identified as the predominant phenolic compound in this species (76.01 mg/100 g DW), followed by protocatechuic acid, which to our knowledge, no previous study reported similar concentrations in O. vulgare. The oregano extract exhibited a content of total phenolic (3948 mg GAE/100 g DW) and total flavonoid (593 mg QE/100 g DW) with a higher DPPH antioxidant activity (IC50 = 40.58 µg/mL), compared to the same species grown under other conditions. Furthermore, it was found to inhibit α-glucosidase activity with an IC50 value (7.11 mg/mL) lower than acarbose (129.32 mg/mL). Pseudomonas syringae and Pantoea agglomerans (both MIC 0.313 mg/mL and MBC 1.25 mg/mL) were the bacteria most susceptible to oregano extract with the lowest concentration necessary to inhibit bacterial growth. These results open the door for the potential use of this plant to manage chronic diseases, and they expand the knowledge of the species cultivated in arid environmental conditions. 相似文献

Electrostatic drag in the intramolecular Schmidt reactions of azidopropylcyclohexanones is characterized using density functional theory (DFT) calculations and direct dynamics simulations. Despite resulting from enthalpically favorable interactions, electrostatic drag slows down N2 loss during formation of bridged lactam products, an effect with implications for controlling product selectivity. 相似文献
