On the regular Sylow p-subgroups of Chevalley groups over \mathbb{Z}_{p^m }

We prove that a Sylow p-subgroup of the general linear group of dimension n over the residue ring modulo p ^m is regular for n ² < p and powerful if and only if n = 2 and m = 1. We obtain similar results for the Sylow p-subgroups of normal types over the same ring.     

Pseudo Frobenius numbers

For a prime $p$, we call a positive integer $n$ a Frobenius $p$-number if there exists a finite group with exactly $n$ subgroups of order $p^a$ for some $a\ge 0$. Extending previous results on Sylow’s theorem, we prove in this paper that every Frobenius $p$-number $n\equiv 1(mod{p}^2)$ is a Sylow $p$-number, i. e., the number of Sylow $p$-subgroups of some finite group. As a consequence, we verify that 46 is a pseudo Frobenius 3-number, that is, no finite group has exactly 46 subgroups of order $3^a$ for any $a\ge 0$.     

关于反正规子群的一个例子

本文给出一个不是Sylow正规化子的反正规子群的例子，这样的例子在交代群A7中出现，让H≌S4是PSL（3，2）中的线稳定化子，则H在A7中是反正规的，但S4不是A7的Sylow正规化子。     

Finite groups with seminormal Sylow subgroups

In this paper, we prove the following theorem： Let p be a prime number, P a Sylow psubgroup of a group G and π = π（G） ／ {p}. If P is seminormal in G, then the following statements hold： 1） G is a p-soluble group and P＇ ≤ Op（G）; 2） lp（G） ≤ 2 and lπ（G） ≤ 2; 3） if a π-Hall subgroup of G is q-supersoluble for some q ∈ π, then G is q-supersoluble.     

Characterization of groups with generalized chernikov periodic part

A characterization of groups with generalized Chernikov periodic part is obtained first in the class of groups without elements of order 2 and then without this restriction. The influence of X-semipermutability of subgroups on the structure of finite groups

Let A be a subgroup of a group G and X be a nonempty subset of G. A is said to be X-semipermutable in G if A has a supplement T in G such that A is X-permutable with every subgroup of T. In this paper, we investigate further the influence of X-semipermutability of some subgroups on the structure of finite groups. Some new criteria for a group G to be supersoluble or p-nilpotent are obtained.

Notes on some new kinds of pseudoprimes

J. Browkin defined in his recent paper (Math. Comp. 73 (2004), pp. 1031-1037) some new kinds of pseudoprimes, called Sylow -pseudoprimes and elementary Abelian -pseudoprimes. He gave examples of strong pseudoprimes to many bases which are not Sylow -pseudoprime to two bases only, where or .

In this paper, in contrast to Browkin's examples, we give facts and examples which are unfavorable for Browkin's observation to detect compositeness of odd composite numbers. In Section 2, we tabulate and compare counts of numbers in several sets of pseudoprimes and find that most strong pseudoprimes are also Sylow -pseudoprimes to the same bases. In Section 3, we give examples of Sylow -pseudoprimes to the first several prime bases for the first several primes . We especially give an example of a strong pseudoprime to the first six prime bases, which is a Sylow -pseudoprime to the same bases for all . In Section 4, we define to be a -fold Carmichael Sylow pseudoprime, if it is a Sylow -pseudoprime to all bases prime to for all the first smallest odd prime factors of . We find and tabulate all three -fold Carmichael Sylow pseudoprimes . In Section 5, we define a positive odd composite to be a Sylow uniform pseudoprime to bases , or a Syl-upsp for short, if it is a Syl-psp for all the first small prime factors of , where is the number of distinct prime factors of . We find and tabulate all the 17 Syl-upsp's and some Syl-upsp 's . Comparisons of effectiveness of Browkin's observation with Miller tests to detect compositeness of odd composite numbers are given in Section 6.
