Economic Equilibrium: Optimality and Price Decentralization

Mathematical economics has a long history and covers many interdisciplinary areas between mathematics and economics. At its center lies the theory of market equilibrium. The purpose of this expository article is to introduce mathematicians to price decentralization in general equilibrium theory. In particular, it concentrates on the role of positivity in the theory of convex economic analysis and the role of normal cones in the theory of non-convex economies.

Application of Hilbert＇s Projective Metric on Symmetric Cones

Let Ω be a symmetric cone. In this note, we introduce Hilbert＇s projective metric on Ω in terms of Jordan algebras and we apply it to prove that, given a linear invertible transformation g such that g（Ω） = Ω and a real number p, ｜p｜ 〉 1, there exists a unique element x ∈ Ω satisfying g（x） = x^p.     

Matrix perturbation theory for driven three‐level systems with damping

We investigate the dynamics of the Λ system driven by two resonant laser fields in presence of dissipation for coupling strengths where the rotating‐wave approximation starts to break down. This regime is characterised by Rabi frequencies being approximately equal or smaller than the field frequencies. A systematic procedure to obtain an expansion for the solution of the Bloch evolution equations of the system is presented. The lowest contribution results to be the well‐known rotating‐wave approximation. The method is based on a semi‐classical treatment of the problem, and its predictions are interpreted fully quantum mechanically. The theory is illustrated by a detailed study of the disappearance of coherent population trapping as the intensities of the fields increase.

FJZ-250型高速转镜分幅相机因转镜速度的不可重复性，光机结构的构造原理和控制系统各路高压触发时间的漂移，导致了时间测量的不确定度。为此，须对相机测量数据进行校正。阐述了校正方法、提供了逐幅校正位置误差的修正系数。若以预置转速对应的名义周期值去处理测量结果，则相机的时间测量合成小确定度将达1％，对名义周期值和名义幅间间隔时间值进行修正后，则可降至0.3％。     

Hydromagnetic rotating flow of a fourth‐order fluid past a porous plate

The rotating flow in the presence of a magnetic field is a problem belonging to hydromagnetics and deserves to be more widely studied than it has been to date. In the non‐linear regime the literature is scarce. We develop the governing equations for the unsteady hydromagnetic rotating flow of a fourth‐order fluid past a porous plate. The steady flow is governed by a boundary value problem in which the order of differential equations is more than the number of available boundary conditions. It is shown that by augmenting the boundary conditions based on asymptotic structures at infinity it is possible to obtain numerical solutions of the nonlinear hydromagnetic equations. Effects of uniform suction or blowing past the porous plate, exerted magnetic field and rotation on the flow phenomena, especially on the boundary layer structure near the plate, are numerically analysed and discussed. The flow behaviours of the Newtonian fluid and second‐, third‐ and fourth‐order non‐Newtonian fluids are compared for the special flow problem, respectively.
