Based on the paraxial vectorial theory of beams propagating in uniaxially anisotropic media, we have derived the analytical propagation equations of beams generated by Gaussian mirror resonator (GMR) in uniaxial crystals, and given the typical numerical example to illustrate our analytical results. Due to the anisotropy crystals, the ordinary and extraordinary beams originated by incident beams generated by GMR propagate with different diffraction lengths, thus the linear polarization state and axial symmetry of the incident beams generated by GMR do not remain during propagating in crystals. 相似文献

Optics has an important role in logic implementation and computation is established in two and half decades by many researchers. Recently frequency encoding technique is established. This technique does not suffer from intensity dependent loss problems like other schemes. Amorphous dielectric thin films with reflecting edges can also be used for logic realization and has very fast response speed. It also does not use any semiconductor device and simple to construct. We present a theoretical investigation of optical bistability in a nonlinear semiconductor ring resonator, by taking into account the two-photon absorption and the free-carrier absorption. By solving the intensity equation within the ring resonator, a parametric formulation is obtained for describing the bistability relation between the input and the output intensities. Based on the strong coherent interaction between a three-level ladder-type atom and a fiber-taper-coupled microtoroidal resonator, we present a scheme for optical transmission gratings. Using experimentally accessible parameters, it is shown that alternating regions of high transmission and absorption can be created in the fiber-taper channel by spatially modulating an external coupling field. We propose optical cross connect filters using photonic crystal ring resonators coupled waveguide crossings. We investigate the properties of this component numerically by using the finite-difference time-domain method. Our simulations reveal that the photonic crystal based cross connect filter has more than 92% normalized transmission. Extending our concept for cross connection applications, we demonstrate a 1 × 2 PC-based cross connect filter which utilizes a heterostructure. In this filter, at the resonance of each ring resonator, the normalized power transferred to the related waveguide of the two drop waveguides is found to be more than 91%. 相似文献

We studied the sharp asymmetric Fano line shape in fiber ring resonator systems and provided an explicit expression for asymmetry parameters using the physical parameters of the system. The fiber ring system was controllable and reconfigurable, allowing us to produce a variety of Fano line shapes in different configurations. Experimentally observed asymmetric spectral structures were fully reproduced using the complex-number asymmetry parameters, validating the approximations used to reduce the analytical expression for the line shape to the phenomenological Fano formula.
