We present theoretical foundations for the quantum tomography of polarization states of light fields as a method for measuring their polarization density operator , which characterizes only the polarization degrees of freedom of the radiation. We mainly attend to the method in which the tomographic observables (the “measurement instruments”) are polarizable in nature. We show that the quantum nature of this method can be adequately expressed using the quasispectral tomographic decompositions of in special operator bases, which are finite sums of partially orthogonal projection operators determining the probability distributions of tomographic observables as the decomposition coefficients. We obtain the matrix versions of such “tomographic” representations of , in particular, by projecting them on semiclassical operator bases determining the polarization quasiprobability functions. Several characteristics of fission accompanied by long range alpha particles (LRA) have been studied in the thermal neutron induced fission of235U. The kinetic energies of fission fragments and the LRA were measured with a back-to-back ionization chamber and semiconductor detectors respectively. The kinetic energies of the two fragments and the LRA in LRA fission, along with the energies of pair fragments in the normal binary fissions, were recorded event by event on a magnetic tape by means of a four-parameter data acquisition system. The data were analysed to study the dependence of different quantities in LRA fission on the fragment mass ratio, LRA energy and the total kinetic energy of the fission fragments. It is seen that the most probable energy of LRA increases significantly for near symmetric mass divisions. The total kinetic energy for all mass ratios in LRA fission is found to be (2.6±0.7) MeV larger than that in binary fission. The difference in the total kinetic energies in LRA and binary fissions is seen to be dependent on mass ratio. This result may suggest that the scission configuration in LRA fission is different for different mass ratios. Correlations between the fission fragment and LRA energies have been studied for several mass ratios. It is seen that the most probable fragment kinetic energyĒ k varies nearly linearly with the LRA energyE a for various mass divisions but the variation of the most probable LRA energyĒ a with fragment kinetic energyE k is found to deviate from linearity for several mass ratios. From a least square fit to the variation ofĒ k withE a it is found that the slope ( k/dEa) increases with the increase in mass ratio. The present results are discussed to arrive at a better understanding of the scission configuration in the fission accompanied by LRA emission.  相似文献

The emission of radiation from relativistic positrons moving in the 〈110〉 axial channels of an f.c.c. (diamond) crystal has been studied. An expression for the radiation intensity has been obtained for the general case of positron motion. This expression has been simplified for the particular case of well-collimated incident beam. The Laboratory of the Government Chemist (LGC) is a focal point for the production, analysis and certification of reference materials. Within the field of thermal analysis the LGC is concerned with the development of purity standards and materials certified for enthalpy of fusion and melting point. For some time the LGC has been concerned with the significant differences in purity data which can be produced by the different manufactures' differential scanning calorimeters. This paper will highlight the initiatives the LGC is undertaking in overcoming this uncertainty in purity measurements through the use of certified thermal standards.  相似文献

Methyl-Hg is one of the most dangerous pollutants in the environment. It is highly toxic and accumulates through the food chain. Tuna fish especially tends to concentrate Hg in the form of methyl-Hg. Quality assurance is a well established routine in analytical laboratories to control the variability of analytical results and to maintain adequate stability, detection power and reproducibility. Capillary electrophoresis (CE) has shown in recent years powerful capabilities for the resolution and analysis of very complex samples. The high resolution and peak capacity characteristics of this technique could be used favourably in speciation studies of organo-Hg compounds. Since the time needed for separation is usually very short in this technique, it lends itself to routine analysis. The application of quality control approaches in the analysis of methyl-Hg in tuna freeze-dried materials using CE is reported.  相似文献

A great number of analyses is performed every year, the results of which are used for many purposes, e.g. the quality of goods and food, the status of quality of the environment or the health of patients. The accuracy of these results is a prerequisite for a good interpretation of the data obtained. One of the most powerful tool for achieving quality control of chemical analysis is to use reference materials (RMs) and certified reference materials (CRMs). These materials are necessary for one or more of the following items: method validation (CRMs), monitoring of the state of statistical control (RMs), samples in inter-comparisons (RMs), etc. The requirements and use of RMs and CRMs in chemical analysis are described, with special emphasis on environmental analysis, and some examples of environmental materials currently in production within the Standards, Measurements and Testing Programme (formerly BCR) of the European Commission are given.  相似文献

A new radiochromic thin film dosimeter has been developed for use in radiation processing. The dosimeter's properties are similar to those of the commercially available FWT-60-00 Radiochromic Detectors with three key differences: 1) a lower sensitivity allows reading the optical density at the peak of the absorbtion spectrum (ca. 600 nm) for absorbed doses to over 50 kGy, 2) a radiation-insensitive dye additive allows for automatic thickness correction, and 3) another additive extends to higher doses the agreement between gamma and E-beam calibrations. The dosimeter is analyzed for its sensitivity, temperature and humidity dependencies, stability, reproducibility, and agreement of gamma and E-beam calibrations.  相似文献
