Model order reduction of the two‐dimensional Burgers equation is investigated. The mathematical formulation of POD/discrete empirical interpolation method (DEIM)‐reduced order model (ROM) is derived based on the Galerkin projection and DEIM from the existing high fidelity‐implicit finite‐difference full model. For validation, we numerically compared the POD ROM, POD/DEIM, and the full model in two cases of Re = 100 and Re = 1000, respectively. We found that the POD/DEIM ROM leads to a speed‐up of CPU time by a factor of O(10). The computational stability of POD/DEIM ROM is maintained by means of a careful selection of POD modes and the DEIM interpolation points. The solution of POD/DEIM in the case of Re = 1000 has an accuracy with error O(10?3) versus O(10?4) in the case of Re = 100 when compared with the high fidelity model. For this turbulent flow, a closure model consisting of a Tikhonov regularization is carried out in order to recover the missing information and is developed to account for the small‐scale dissipation effect of the truncated POD modes. It is shown that the computational results of this calibrated ROM exhibit considerable agreement with the high fidelity model, which implies the efficiency of the closure model used. Defect turbulence described by the one-dimensional complex Ginzburg–Landau equation is investigated and analyzed via a birth–death process of the local structures composed of defects, holes, and modulated amplitude waves (MAWs). All the number statistics of each local structure, in its stationary state, are subjected to Poisson statistics. In addition, the probability density functions of interarrival times of defects, lifetimes of holes, and MAWs show the existence of long-memory and some characteristic time scales caused by zigzag motions of oscillating traveling holes. In this paper, periodized Shannon wavelets are applied as basis functions in solution of the high-order ordinary differential equations and eigenvalue problem. This paper is concerned with stability analysis of asymptotic profiles for (possibly sign-changing) solutions vanishing in finite time of the Cauchy–Dirichlet problems for fast diffusion equations in annuli. It is proved that the unique positive radial profile is not asymptotically stable, and moreover, it is unstable for the two-dimensional annulus. Cadmium selenide quantum dot (CdSe QD) has been used as a dopant in ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) 2-methylbutyl 4-(4-decyloxybenzylideneamino) cinnamate (DOBAMBC). Effect of CdSe QD in DOBAMBC on its different electro-optical (E-O) properties has been studied in the SmC* phase. The optical micrographs recorded for the pure and composite material are showing good dispersion of QDs in the FLC matrix. Micrographs of unaligned sample cell revealed that CdSe QDs induce homeotropic alignment of FLC molecules. An appreciable change in the value of E-O parameters like tilt angle, spontaneous polarisation and response time with shifting of SmA–SmC* phase transition temperature has been observed for CdSe QD–DOBAMBC composite. The observed properties of composite system have been discussed on the basis of surface properties of QDs in FLC system. 相似文献
