Novel fluorosilicone triblock copolymers prepared by two-step RAFT polymerization: Synthesis, characterization, and surface properties

Well-defined poly(dimethylsiloxane)-b-poly(2,2,3,3,4,4,4-heptafluorobutyl methacrylate-b-poly(styrene) (PDMS-b-PHFBMA-b-PS) triblock copolymers were prepared by two-step reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. The two-step RAFT polymerization proceeded in a controlled manner as demonstrated by the macromolecular characteristics of the blocks and corresponding polymerization kinetic data. Furthermore, surface properties and morphologies of the polymers were investigated with static water contact angle (WCA) measurement, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) which showed low surface energy and microphase-separation surfaces.     

Quantized charge transport in adiabatic pumping by a driven double δ-barrier

We investigate the condition that the charge carried by quantum parametric pumping per cycle is quantized in units of the electron charge e and the role of adiabaticity in charge quantization. Using a driven double-δ-potential model and a Floquet scattering approach, it is found that the quantization phenomenon occurs only at very low frequencies of the oscillating potential and adiabaticity of the potential modulation is crucial for quantization.     

New trend for optical signal-to-noise ratio of disturbed Raman fiber amplifier

In a distributed Raman fiber amplifier (DRFA), Raman amplification allows a lower signal launch powers to transverse the span above the noise floor while still increasing the optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR). It improves the noise figure and reduces the nonlinear penalty of fiber systems. In this paper, we demonstrate a new trend of OSNR at different pump configurations: forward, backward and bidirectional pumping for DRFAs as a function of fiber length. We also present the variation of OSNR with both input pump power and input signal power. It is found that forward pumping provides the highest OSNR, reaching its maximum value of 37 dB. However, backward pumping provides the smallest OSNR that has its maximum of 22 dB and the bidirectional pumping provides the moderate OSNR between the others having its peak of 26 dB.

Laser diode pumped LNYAB self-frequency-doubling lasers

The LNYAB self-doubling laser pumped by (LD) has been developed for the first time. The properties of the lasers are much better than those of NYAB self-doubling lasers pumped by LD. The LNYAB self-doubling laser pumped by LD can be operated in TEM_(00) mode with threshold pumping power of 3.6mW which is lower than that of LD pumped NYAB self-doubling lasers by 74%. The output power is 29mW at 0.531μm in green region with optical-to-optical efficiency of 4.8% which is higher than that of NYAB self-doubling laser by 20%.     

Quasi-CW Diode Laser End-pumped Yb3+∶GlassMicrochip Laser

Quasi-CW diode-pumped Yb3+∶borate glass and Yb3+∶phosphate glass microchip lasers have been reported. From Yb3+∶phosphate glass laser, the maximum average output power was 31 mW and the optical-optical conversion efficiency was 5%.The maximum average output power was 18 mW, and optical-optical conversion efficiency was 3% for Yb3+∶borate glass laser.     

单个激光二极管对称侧向抽运的固体激光器

采用一种半导体激光器侧向抽运的固体激光器新结构，可将一个半导体激光器的输出光分成四部分，从四面对称耦合到激光棒中，从而实现比较均匀的抽运。模拟计算了这种对称抽运结构中激光棒对侧面抽运光的吸收过程，得到了激光棒介质的吸收系数和直径等参量对激光棒内抽运光能量分布均匀性和能量吸收率的影响规律，并在此基础上对相关参量进行了优化。这种方案结构简单紧凑，很容易获得高光束质量的高功率固体激光输出。采用这种抽运结构制成了新颖的激光头，初步实验结果良好，表明该结构确实可行。     

新型晶体Nd:S-VAP激光特性研究

测量了 Nd:S-VAP[Nd:Sr₅(VO₄)₃F]晶体的吸收光谱特性,在583.0nm 和809.0nm处有强烈的吸收峰.用可调谐染料激光泵浦实现了低阈值、高效率的激光运转.在透射率15%的平-平腔情况下,斜率效率为50%,阈值2mJ,倍频绿光的中心波长为536.0nm,线宽为1.4nm.采用φ4mm×30mm 的氙灯泵浦,实现了自由运转和染料片调 Q 运转.阈值为130mJ,斜效率为1.3%.测量了不同腔长、不同染料片小信号透射率情况下的输出能量、脉冲宽度以及光束发散角和偏振特性等.     

Spectral Characteristics of Miniature Two-Longitudinal-Mode Optically Pumped FIR Laser

With the assumption that the pump source was two-longitudinal-mode, the semiclassical density matrix equation of a three-energy-level system was solved. By means of iteration method, the spectral characteristics of miniature two-longitudinal-mode optically pumped NH₃ far-infrared cavity laser, which was pumped by CO₂-9R(16) line, were calculated numerically. The influences of operating parameters on laser spectrum were studied intensively.     

Construction of a side pumped double-clad fiber using polished couplers

The paper presents a new way of side pumping double-clad fibers. Elaborated asymmetric polished couplers are presented. By using these couplers in pumping power set-ups of double-clad fiber very good pumping efficiency a very good efficiency was attained. The experimental and numerical optimizations of designed couplers are presented.
