The left quotient ring (i.e., the left classical ring of fractions) Qcl(R) of a ring R does not always exist and still, in general, there is no good understanding of the reason why this happens. In this article, existence of the largest left quotient ring Ql(R) of an arbitrary ring R is proved, i.e., Ql(R) = S0(R)?1R where S0(R) is the largest left regular denominator set of R. It is proved that Ql(Ql(R)) = Ql(R); the ring Ql(R) is semisimple iff Qcl(R) exists and is semisimple; moreover, if the ring Ql(R) is left Artinian, then Qcl(R) exists and Ql(R) = Qcl(R). The group of units Ql(R)* of Ql(R) is equal to the set {s?1t | s, t ∈ S0(R)} and S0(R) = R ∩ Ql(R)*. If there exists a finitely generated flat left R-module which is not projective, then Ql(R) is not a semisimple ring. We extend slightly Ore's method of localization to localizable left Ore sets, give a criterion of when a left Ore set is localizable, and prove that all left and right Ore sets of an arbitrary ring are localizable (not just denominator sets as in Ore's method of localization). Applications are given for certain classes of rings (semiprime Goldie rings, Noetherian commutative rings, the algebra of polynomial integro-differential operators). 相似文献

ABSTRACTIn this article we study the behavior of left QI-rings under perfect localizations. We show that a perfect localization of a left QI-ring is a left QI-ring. We prove that Boyle’s conjecture is true for left QI-rings with finite Gabriel dimension such that every hereditary torsion theory in the Gabriel filtration is perfect. As corollary, we get that Boyle’s conjecture is true for left QI-rings which satisfy the restricted left socle condition, a result proved by Faith in [6]. 相似文献

This article is a continuation of the article [F. Zhang, Ger?gorin type theorems for quaternionic matrices, Linear Algebra Appl. 424 (2007), pp. 139–153] on the study of the eigenvalues of quaternion matrices. Profound differences in the eigenvalue problems for complex and quaternion matrices are discussed. We show that Brauer's theorem for the inclusion of the eigenvalues of complex matrices cannot be extended to the right eigenvalues of quaternion matrices. We also provide necessary and sufficient conditions for a complex square matrix to have infinitely many left eigenvalues, and analyse the roots of the characteristic polynomials for 2?×?2 matrices. We establish a characterisation for the set of left eigenvalues to intersect or be part of the boundary of the quaternion balls of Ger?gorin. 相似文献

A particular orthogonal map on a finite-dimensional real quadratic vector space (V,?Q) with a non-degenerate quadratic form Q of any signature (p,?q) is considered. It can be viewed as a correlation of the vector space that leads to a dual Clifford algebra C?(V*,?Q) of linear functionals (multiforms) acting on the universal Clifford algebra C?(V,?Q). The map results in a unique involutive automorphism and a unique involutive anti-automorphism of C?(V,?Q). The anti-involution reduces to reversion (resp. conjugation) for any Euclidean (resp. anti-Euclidean) signature. When applied to a general element of the algebra, it results in transposition of the element matrix in the left regular representation of C?(V,?Q). We also give an example for real spinor spaces. The interaction between Gaussian beam and indefinite anisotropic metamaterial (AMM) slabs are simulated with auxiliary differential
equation method in finite-difference time-domain method (FDTD). The directions of wave vector and energy flow densities in
three types of AMM slabs are investigated. The field intensity distributions and phases of TE-polarized wave for the interaction
between Gaussian beam and AMM slabs are given. Numerical results show that the sign of x component of relative permeability tensor of AMM determines the refraction is regular or anomalous, whereas the sign of z component of relative permeability tensor of AMM determines the energy flow is positively refracted or negatively refracted.
Positive or negative Goos-H?nchen shift associated with Total Cutoff media are also shown.

通过把负磁导率材料SRR阵列置于高性能电流变液中,研究了电极加载方式、电流变液浓度、电流变液类型以及电场强度等因素对浸入电流变液中的SRR阵列谐振频率的影响. 实验表明,电极加载方式对SRR阵列的磁响应有重要的影响;在容器盒中充满电流变液之后SRR阵列的谐振频率往低频发生了移动,并且可以通过改变外加电场强度来调节,最大的调节范围为130MHz. 数值计算结果表明SRR阵列的有效磁导率在谐振频率附近为负值,并且有效磁导率为负的频率范围也可以通过改变外加电场强度来调节.

Heat energy can transfer via convection, conduction, and radiation. Based on convection and conduction in microfluidics, people have designed and fabricated many novel devices. However, almost none of them has adaptivity, thus restricting practical applications under different conditions. To solve this problem, here we propose a passive approach to adaptive responses. That is,we consider the thermal convection-conduction process in microfluidic structures where Darcy’s law and Fourier’s law are both valid. By carefully designing two key parameters(i.e., tensorial thermal conductivity and tensorial permeability) of a metashell,we theoretically reveal that its effective properties(i.e., effective thermal conductivity and effective permeability) can adaptively change according to the inside object, thus yielding the "chameleonlike metashell". Further, this metashell is passive since it requires no prior knowledge of the inside object. We also report that the chameleonlike behavior can occur for anisotropic inside objects, nonuniform external fields, or even complex shapes. All theoretical analyses agree well with finite-element simulations.The chameleonlike metashell can act as an intelligent metamaterial in microfluidics for its adaptive responses, and it can also benefit other physical fields where convection plays a role, such as mass diffusion. 相似文献
