Noncollinear optical parametric up-conversion generation and amplification are realized in a thick β-barium borate (BBO) crystal, and a couple of visible femtosecond up-conversion laser pulses can be achieved by a femtosecond pulse at 800 nm as the pump sources. The theoretical and experimental results indicate that there exist phase-matching conditions for dual-color noncollinear parametric up-conversion generation and amplification, and their wavelengths can be tuned by rotating the BBO crystal. This parametric up-conversion generation and amplification can be attributed to three and five-wave mixing in a thick BBO crystal, and it shows the potential application on optical parametric chirped pulse amplification (OPCPA) to generate multi-color ultraviolet or visible femtosecond laser pulses pumped directly by femtosecond fundamental laser pulses without frequency-doubling or tripling.  相似文献

Data comparator is the integral part of arithmetic and logical unit of any electronic or optical data processor. Due to some inherent limitations of electronics it cannot be possible to obtain a super fast operation (over terahertz limit) from electronic comparators. Again wavelength encoding technique has been established as an excellent one over other existing optical data encoding techniques. Semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) technologies have shown their strong potentiality of realizing many all-optical systems. In this communication the authors have proposed a new scheme of developing all-optical wavelength encoded n bit binary comparator exploiting the four-wave mixing, wavelength filtering, wavelength conversion and nonlinear polarization rotation capabilities property of nonlinear semiconductor optical amplifiers. The scheme can be used for comparing signed and unsigned optical binary data of any bit wide numbers as well. The comparator is especially suitable for use as a building block in a larger optical circuit, such as in an all optical telecommunications switch.  相似文献

We discuss the possibility of forecasting earthquakes by means of (anti)neutrino tomography. Antineutrinos emitted from reactors are used as a probe. As the antineutrinos traverse through a region prone to earthquakes, observable variations in the matter effect on the antineutrino oscillation would provide a tomography of the vicinity of the region. In this preliminary work, we adopt a simplified model for the geometrical profile and matter density in a fault zone. We calculate the survival probability of electron antineutrinos for cases without and with an anomalous accumulation of electrons which can be considered as a clear signal of the coming earthquake, at the geological region with a fault zone, and find that the variation may reach as much as 3% for νe emitted from a reactor. The case for a νe beam from a neutrino factory is also investigated, and it is noted that, because of the typically high energy associated with such neutrinos, the oscillation length is too large and the resultant variation is not practically observable. Our conclusion is that with the present reactor facilities and detection techniques, it is still a difficult task to make an earthquake forecast using such a scheme, though it seems to be possible from a theoretical point of view while ignoring some uncertainties. However, with the development of the geology, especially the knowledge about the fault zone, and with the improvement of the detection techniques, etc., there is hope that a medium-term earthquake forecast would be feasible.  相似文献

We compute the mass spectrum of the fermionic sector of the Dirac–Kähler extension of the SM (DK-SM) by showing that there exists a Bogoliubov transformation that transforms the DK-SM into a flavor U(4)U(4) extension of the SM (SM-4) with a particular choice of masses and mixing textures. Mass relations of the model allow determination of masses of the 4th generation. Tree level prediction for the mass of the 4th charged lepton is 370 GeV. The model selects the normal hierarchy for neutrino masses and reproduces naturally the near tri-bimaximal and quark mixing textures. The electron neutrino and the 4th neutrino masses are related via a see-saw-like mechanism.  相似文献

We revisit the problem of quantizing field theories on noncommutative Moyal space–time with light-like   noncommutativity. To tackle the issues arising from noncommuting and hence nonlocal time, we argue that for this case light-front quantization procedure should be employed. In this appropriate quantization scheme we perform the non-planar loop analysis for the light-like noncommutative field theories. One of the important and peculiar features of light-front quantization is that the UV cutoff of the light-cone Hamiltonian manifests itself as an IR cutoff for the light-cone momentum, p+p+. Due to this feature, the naive results of covariant quantization for the light-like case allude to the absence of the UV/IR mixing in the light-front quantization. However, by a careful analysis of non-planar loop integrals we show that this is not the case and the UV/IR mixing persists. In addition, we argue in favour of the perturbative unitarity of light-like noncommutative field theories in the light-front quantization scheme.  相似文献

In this Letter, we realize the tri-bimaximal mixing in the lepton sector in the context of minimal seesaw in which only two right-handed neutrinos are introduced, with the discrete group S4 as the family symmetry. In order to constrain the form of superpotential, a Z3 symmetry is also introduced. In the model, the mass matrices for charged leptons and right-handed neutrinos are diagonal. The unitary matrix that diagonalizes the light Majorana neutrino mass matrix is exact tri-bimaximal at LO, and is corrected by small quantities of O(0.01) at NLO. The mechanism to get the particular scalar VEV alignments used is also presented. Phenomenologically, the mass spectrum is of normal hierarchy with m1=0, and ∑mi and |mee| are about 0.058 eV and 0.003 eV respectively.  相似文献
