Spatial structures as a result of a modulational instability are obtained in the integrable discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equation (Ablowitz-Ladik equation). Discrete slow space variables are used in a general setting and the related finite differences are constructed. Analyzing the ensuing equation, we derive the modulational instability criterion from the discrete multiple scales approach. Numerical simulations in agreement with analytical studies lead to the disintegrations of the initial modulated waves into a train of pulses.  相似文献

Fluorophosphate glasses of composition, P2O5 + K2O + KF + MO + Al2O3 + xEu2O3 (M = Mg, Sr and Ba; x = 0.01, 0.05, 0.1, 1.0, 2.0, 4.0 and 6.0 mol%) were prepared and characterized their optical properties. Crystal-field (CF) analysis revealed a relatively weak CF strength around Eu3+ ions in the Ba based fluorophosphate glasses. The Judd-Ofelt parameters have been estimated from the oscillator strengths of 7F0 → 5D2, 7F0 → 5D4 and 7F0 → 5L6 absorption transitions of Eu3+ ions and were used to evaluate the radiative properties of the 5D0 → 7FJ (J = 0-4) transitions. Considerable variation has been observed in the relative intensity ratio of 5D0 → 7F2 to 5D0 → 7F1 transitions of Eu3+ ions due to change in the alkaline earth metal ions. The decay of the 5D0 level shows single exponential and less sensitive to Eu3+ ions concentration as well as MgO/SrO/BaO modifiers.  相似文献

Oxygen-neon novae form a subset of classical novae events known to freshly synthesize nuclei up to mass number A?40. Because several gamma-ray emitters lie in this mass range, these novae are also interesting candidates for gamma-ray astronomy. The properties of excited states within those nuclei in this mass region play a critical role in determining the resonant (p,γ) reaction rates, themselves, largely unknown for the unstable nuclei. We describe herein a new Doppler shift lifetime facility at the Maier-Leibnitz tandem laboratory, Technische Universität München, with which we will map out important resonant (p,γ) nova reaction rates.  相似文献

We show that a gas-to-liquid phase transition at zero temperature may occur in a coherent gas of bosons in the presence of competing nonlinear effects. This situation can take place in atomic systems like Bose-Einstein condensates in alkali gases with two-body and three-body interactions of opposite signs, as well as in laser beams which propagate through optical media with Kerr (focusing) and higher order (defocusing) nonlinear responses. The liquefaction process takes place in the absence of any quantum effect and can be formulated in the framework of a mean field theory, in terms of the minimization of a thermodynamic potential. We study from a thermodynamic point of view all the stationary solutions of the cubic-quintic nonlinear Schrödinger equation which describes our system. We show that solitonic localized solutions connect the gaseous and liquid phases. Furthermore, we also perform a numerical simulation in the presence of linear gain and three-body recombination where a rich dynamics, including the emergence of self-organization behavior, is found.  相似文献

We have explored two novel comonomers, namely, 4,16‐dicarboxyl[2.2]paracyclophane and 5,5′,6,6′‐tetraamino‐3,3,3′,3′‐tetramethyl‐1,1′‐spirobi[indane], for the synthesis of co‐polybenzimidazoles (co‐PBIs) with intrinsic porosity. Both these monomers possess twisted structures that can lead to “awkward” macromolecular shapes that cannot pack efficiently. The consequences of introducing these two monomers on the structure and properties of PBIs are reported. The random copolymers synthesized are amorphous and possess glass transition temperatures (Tgs) greater than 400 °C. Tg decreases with increasing comonomer content indicating an increase in fractional free volume. The copolymers have low surface area. TEM and BET measurements show evidence of mesopore formation. The copolymers show significant carbon dioxide adsorption. Single chain molecular dynamics simulation of 24‐mer repeat units shows intramolecular void spaces arising as a result of distorted polymer chain with reduced conformational mobility. These studies define a new synthetic strategy for “bottoms‐up” synthesis of PBIs with intrinsic porosity. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Decay properties of neutron-deficient exotic nuclei close to A=80 have been investigated at the IGISOL facility. The studied nuclei, 81Y, 81Sr, 81mKr, 85Nb, 85Zr, 86Mo and 86Nb, were produced by a 32S beam from the Jyv?skyl? isochronous cyclotron on 54Fe and natNi targets. The internal conversion coefficient for a 190.5 keV isomeric transition in 81mKr has been measured and the internal transition rate has been determined. The internal transition rate has been used to estimate a neutrino capture rate on 81Br, which yields a log ft of 5.13±0.09 for the reaction 81Br( ν, e -)81mKr. A new isomer with a half-life of 3.3±0.9 s has been observed in 85Nb. The existence of an earlier reported isomer with a half-life of 56 s in 86Nb has not been confirmed.  相似文献

Lifetimes of yrast levels with spins Iπ = 23/2--43/2- in 131La populated in the 122Sn(14N, 5n) reaction at a beam energy of 70MeV are measured by the Doppler Shift Attenuation method. A model of side-feeding population is presented. The model parameters are determined in an experiment based on the lineshape of γ-transitions from two highest spin levels and from the intensity distribution along the yrast band. The properties of the h11/2 band in 131La are compared with the theoretical predictions obtained in the framework of the Core-Quasi-Particle Coupling and the self-consistent Total Routhian Surface models.  相似文献

Abstact: High-spin states in 183Re have been studied using the 176Yb(11B,4n) reaction at 52 and 57 MeV. Two high-K bands have been observed directly by a time-correlated γ-γ coincidence measurement. One of the bands is built on an isomeric K π=(25/2)+ state at E x= 1908 keV with a half-life of 0.82(2) ms. The other band, assigned as K π=(29/2) at E x= 2739 keV, decays to the (25/2)+ band. These bands are interpreted as three-quasiparticle structures, π(5/2)+[402] &⊗ν(9/2)+[624] ⊗ν(11/2)+[615] for the (25/2)+ band and π(9/2)[514] ⊗ν(9/2)+[624] ⊗ν(11/2)+[615] for the (29/2) band. The K π= (29/2) band becomes strongly Coriolis mixed with increasing spin and is gradually changing into a low-K s-band structure. Received: 20 April 1998  相似文献

Pioneering experiments with stored and cooled exotic nuclei at relativistic energies have been performed using the combination of the fragment separator FRS with the storage-cooler ring ESR. Exotic nuclei created in peripheral collisions are spatially separated in-flight and injected into the storage ring for high-precision mass and unique lifetime measurements. Lifetimes of stored bare and few-electron nuclei have been measured to study the influence of the electron density on the β decay. This condition, relevant for stellar plasma, can now be systematically investigated in the laboratory for the first time. Characteristic experiments of the present FRS-ESR system are presented and perspectives for a next-generation facility are briefly outlined. Received: 1 May 2001 / Accepted: 4 December 2001  相似文献
