We investigate spectral properties of integral operators of the form
acting on Banach spaces of analytic functions on the unit disc. In the case that g is a rational function, analytic on the unit disc, we obtain the spectrum, essential spectrum and index of Sg. In a category C an object it G is epicomplete if the only epic monics out of G are isomorphisms, epic or monic meant in the categorical sense of right or left cancellable. For each of the categories Arch: archimedean ?-groups with ?-homomorphisms, and its companion category W: Arch-objects with distinguished weak unit and unit-preserving ?-homomorphisms, (and for the corresponding categories of vector lattices) epicompleteness has been characterized as divisible and conditionally and laterally σ-complete, and it has been shown to be monoreflective. Denote the reflecting functors by β and β W , respectively. What are they? For W the Yosida representation has been used to realize β W A as a certain quotient of B (Y A), the Baire functions on the Yosida space of A. For Arch, very little has been known. Here we give a general representation theorem, Theorem A, for β G as a certain subdirect product of W-epicomplete objects derived from G. That result, some W-theory, and the relation between epicity and relative uniform density are then employed to show Theorem B: β C K (Y)=B L (Y), where C K (Y)is the ?-group of continuous functions on Y with compact support and B L (Y) is the ?-group of Baire functions on Y having Lindelöf cozero sets.  相似文献

We prove a general categorical theorem that enables us to state that under certain conditions, the range of a functor is large. As an application, we prove various results of which the following is a prototype: If every diagram, indexed by a lattice, of finite Boolean 〈∨ ,0 〉-semilattices with 〈∨ ,0 〉-embeddings, can be lifted, with respect to the Conc functor, by a diagram of lattices, then so can every diagram, indexed by a lattice, of finite distributive 〈∨ ,0 〉-semilattices with 〈∨ ,0 〉-embeddings. If the premise of this statement held, this would solve in turn the (still open) problem whether every distributive algebraic lattice is isomorphic to the congruence lattice of a lattice. •  If ConA ≅ N5 and ConB is modular, then every subdirect product of ConA and ConB is a congruence lattice.
•  Every congruence lattice representation of N5 is power-hereditary.

We show that the r-dominated polynomials on p(2 p ) are integral on 1, and give examples proving that the converse is not true. We characterize when the 2-homogeneous, diagonal polynomials on p(1 < p ) are r-dominated. We consider the problem of distinguishing two modular forms, or two elliptic curves, by looking at the coefficients of their L-functions for small primes (compared to their conductor). Using analytic methods based on large-sieve type inequalities we give various upper bounds on the number of forms having the first few coefficients equal to those of a fixed one. Let be a very ample vector bundle of rank two on a smooth complex projective threefold X. An inequality about the third Segre class of is provided when is nef but not big, and when a suitable positive multiple of defines a morphism XB with connected fibers onto a smooth projective curve B, where KX is the canonical bundle of X. As an application, the case where the genus of B is positive and has a global section whose zero locus is a smooth hyperelliptic curve of genus ≧ 2 is investigated, and our previous result is improved for threefolds.
