A bi-virus competing model with time-varying susceptibility and repeated infection

This paper introduces a bi-virus model with time-varying susceptibility. The model describes the case that there coexist two viruses and the time-varying susceptibility due to repeated infections. For different parameters, we investigate the stability of various equilibriums. Under appropriate conditions the two viruses show competitive relationship, that is, one virus will eventually become a pandemic, and the other virus will eventually disappear. For this case, we further study the dynamical behavior of virus transmission. The model shows some new phenomena, that is, the outbreak of the virus will be delayed appropriately, giving people an illusion. Finally, we present a numerical example to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.     

Gaussian,non-Gaussian critical fluctuations in the Curie-Weiss model

It is known that at the critical temperature the Curie-Weiss mean-field model has non-Gaussian fluctuations and that internal fluctuations can be Gaussian. Here we compute the distribution of theq-mode magnetization fluctuations as a function of the temperature, the wave vectorq, and a fading out external field. We obtain new classes of probability distributions generated by this external field as well as new critical behavior in terms of its rate of fading out. We discuss also the susceptibility as the limitq tending to zero.     

Magnetic susceptibility of liquid gold-indium-zinc alloys

Summary Alloys of the ternary system gold-indium-zinc with a variable content of goldx _Au at a constant ratio ofx _In:x _Zn=1:1 have been investigated by susceptibility measurements from 300 K up to 1500 K with emphasis on the liquid state. The magnetic susceptibilities of the homogeneous liquids were found to vary in a non-linear manner with temperature and composition. At temperatures close to the liquid-solid transition, the susceptibilities pass through a characteristic minimum which tends to disappear with increasing temperature. The anomaly located atx _Au 0.6 seems to be related to a particular valence electron concentration ofe/a 1.6.

Magnetische Suszeptibilität von flüssigen Gold-Indium-Zink-Legierungen

Zusammenfassung Legierungen des ternären Systems Gold-Indium-Zink mit einem variablen Goldgehaltx _Au bei konstantem Indium-Zink-Verhältnis (x _In:x _Zn=1:1) wurden zwischen 300 und 1500 K auf ihre magnetische Suszeptibilität untersucht. Das Hauptaugenmerk wurde dabei auf den flüssigen Zustand gelegt. Die magnetischen Suszeptibilitäten der homogenen Schmelzen variieren nichtlinear mit Temperatur und Zusammensetzung. Bei Temperaturen nahe dem übergang flüssig-fest tritt ein charakteristisches Minimum der Suszeptibilität auf, das mit steigender Temperatur verschwindet. Die Anomalie bei einemx _Au vonca. 0.6 scheint mit einer speziellen Valenzelektronenkonzentration (e/a) von etwa 1.6 verknüpft zu sein.

     

THE COMPARISON OF LANZHOU LOESS PROFILE WITH VOSTOK ICE CORE IN ANTARCTICA OVER THE LAST GLACIATION CYCLE

Loess near Lanzhou in the late Pleistocene is very sensitive to climatic fluctuations. The Beiyuan terrace profile in Linxia City, of which the curve of susceptibility tallies with the trend of isotopic curves of Vostok 2083 m ice core in Antarctica, is 35m thick. There are five layers of paleosols under Malan loess(L_1). Upper three layers (S_(1-a),S(1-b)and S_(1-c) correspond to three warm stages in last interglaciation, Interstadial of Last Glacial (C stage in Antarctic ice core)was clearly recorded in the Beiyuan profile, in which three layers of paleosols and two of loess were formed. The lowest section of the profile belongs to penultimate glaciation, in which fossils of cold-drought-resistant mammal and mollusc have been discovered.     

Synthesis and magnetic properties of liquid crystalline lanthanide complexes with alkylsulfate counterions

The reaction of Schiff"s base L with lanthanide alkylsulfates affords liquid crystalline complexes with the general formula L₃Ln(C_nH_2n+1OSO₃)₃. The liquid crystalline structure and magnetic properties are studied by polarization thermal microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray diffraction, and measurement of magnetic susceptibility. The temperatures of the existence of the mesophase and magnetic anisotropy of the complexes with the same lanthanide depend on the chain length of the alkyl fragment in the sulfate anion.     

Characterization of quasi-one-dimensional S=1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnets Sr2Cu(PO4)2 and Ba2Cu(PO4)2 with magnetic susceptibility, specific heat, and thermal analysis

Properties of Sr₂Cu(PO₄)₂ and Ba₂Cu(PO₄)₂ having [Cu(PO₄)₂]_∞ linear chains in their structures with Cu-O-P-O-Cu linkages were studied by magnetic susceptibility (T=2-400 K, H=100 Oe) and specific heat measurements (T=0.45-21 K). Magnetic susceptibility versus temperature curves, χ(T), showed broad maxima at T_M=92 K for Sr₂Cu(PO₄)₂ and T_M=82 K for Ba₂Cu(PO₄)₂ characteristic of quasi-one-dimensional systems. The χ(T) data were excellently fitted by the spin susceptibility curve for the uniform S=1/2 chain (plus temperature-independent and Curie-Weiss terms) with g=2.153(4) and J/k_B=143.6(2) K for Sr₂Cu(PO₄)₂ and g=2.073(4) and J/k_B=132.16(9) K for Ba₂Cu(PO₄)₂ (Hamiltonian H=JΣS_iS_i+1). The similar J/k_B values were obtained from the specific heat data. No anomaly was observed on the specific heat from 0.45 to 21 K for both compounds indicating that the temperatures of long-range magnetic ordering, T_N, were below 0.45 K. Sr₂Cu(PO₄)₂ and Ba₂Cu(PO₄)₂ are an excellent physical realization of the S=1/2 linear chain Heisenberg antiferromagnet with k_BT_N/J<0.34% together with Sr₂CuO₃ (k_BT_N/J≈0.25%) and γ-LiV₂O₅ (k_BT_N/J<0.16%). Sr₂Cu(PO₄)₂ and Ba₂Cu(PO₄)₂ were stable in air up to 1280 and 1150 K, respectively.     

Functional models of [Fe—S] nitrosyl proteins

The review surveys methods for the synthesis, as well as structures and properties of sulfur-containing iron nitrosyl complexes serving as models of active sites of [Fe—S] nitrosyl proteins, which are potential donors of nitrogen monoxide.__________Published in Russian in Izvestiya Akademii Nauk. 若干有机分子的二阶非线性光学极化系数色散关系

在INDO/CI方法基础上, 用自己编制的计算二阶非线性极化系数β_(ijk)程序, 计算了苯胺、硝基苯、对硝基苯胺和4-硝基-4′-胺基二苯乙烯的β_(ijk), 并研究了其对外部激光场频率的依赖关系。结果表明, 分子内的电荷转移是产生非线性光学现象的根本原因, 而作为外因的激光场对二阶非线性光学系数的大小和方向也有直接的重要作用。当激光场频率与分子的共振频率接近时, 二阶非线性极化系数变得非常大, 在共振频率附近, β_(ijk)改变符号且Kleinman对称性被打破。     

Electronic Structure, Aromaticity, and Physicochemical Characteristics of Carbene, Radical, and Ionic Forms of Compounds of the Imidazole Series, and their Oxo and Thio Analogs

The effects of benzannellation, phenyl substitution at the nitrogen atom, protonation at the carbene carbon, ionization, and the state of the carbene center (² or ²) on the electronic structure, diamagnetic susceptibility, induced -electron ring currents, the ¹H, ¹³C, and ¹⁴N chemical shifts, and the energies of the lowest electronic transitions of imidazol-2-ylidenes and their oxo and thio analogs were examined in the bound version of -electron perturbation theory. The calculated and experimental data are compared.     

Synthesis,crystal structure,magnetism, and absorption spectra of A2UX5 Type Halides (A = K,Rb; X = Cl,Br, I)

The ternary uranium(III) halides A₂UX₅ (A = K, Rb; X = Cl, Br, I) have been prepared from the binary components AX and UX₃ in sealed tantalum containers. According to their Guinier X-ray powder patterns, they all crystallize with the K₂PrCl₅/Y₂HfS₅ type of structure. Lattice constants for ambient temperature are reported. Single-crystal structure refinemens were undertaken for K₂UI₅ and Rb₂UCl₅. Magnetic susceptibility data were recorded with a SQUID magnetometer from liquid helium to room temperature. One-dimensional (intrachain) and three-dimensional antiferromagnetic ordering occur at low temperatures dependent upon the U³⁺? U³⁺ distance. Absorption spectra were recorded between 4 000 and 28 000 cm^?1. They show f—f transitions typical for U³⁺ and, depending on the halide, very strong f—d transitions above 14 000 to 15 000 cm^?1, respectively.
