The production of ligno-cellulosic biomass-based composites requires the development of new methodologies to evaluate the reinforcement potential of a given biomass, such as miscanthus studied in the work. Miscanthus stems from thirteen genotypes were broken into elongated fragments and mixed with polypropylene composites in an internal mixer. The aim is to find the best protocol able to discriminate miscanthus genotypes for their reinforcement capability. The following process parameters were optimized in order to maximize the reinforcement effect of the stem fragment filler: mixing parameters (mixing time, rotor speed and chamber temperature), temperature, fragment content, size and length distributions and coupling agent. The relationship between the process parameters and the mechanical properties of composites were analyzed to evaluate the influence of genotype on reinforcement performance, showing the robustness of the protocol in effectively discriminating genotypes according to their reinforcing capacity.  相似文献

Natural fibers are inexpensive, biodegradable, and have similar specific properties to some synthetic fibers. Hardly any previous investigations exist of a composite made of multiple layers of pure Kevlar fiber fabric and pure Flax fiber fabric in a “sandwich structure”, but it only measured impact properties. The composite was made of 12 Flax/epoxy layers at the core in 3 possible configurations (i.e. [0]12F, [0/90]6F, or [±45]6F) that were sandwiched by 2 Kevlar/epoxy layers (i.e. plain weave) on each side. This study showed maximum change in the mechanical properties with respect to Flax/Epoxy for tension (+137.85% in ET, and +171.22% in σUT), compression (+171.22% in Ec, and −10.6% in σUC), 3-point bending (−11.54% in EB, and +2.19 in σUB), torsion (−5.31% in G, and 395.82% in τ), and water absorption (60.04%). This novel hybrid composite may be useful for research and industry applications.  相似文献

The Mg50Ni45Cr5 alloy for hydrogen storage is prepared by mechanical alloying. First, using the X-ray diffraction (XRD) and the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) we examine the morphology and the structure of the substrate. The obtained results highlight the effectiveness of this alloy in loading hydrogen as it is a nanocrystalline and a ductile one. Second, we attempt to justify these expectations using the statistical physic, precisely the model monolayer with two levels of energy, in modeling a hydrogen absorption and desorption isotherms on Mg50Ni45Cr5 alloy at four temperatures T?=?275?K, T?=?300?K, T?=?325?K and T?=?350?K. The model has six physicochemical parameters deduced from the fitting of the isotherms, they are divided by two categories of steric and energetic parameters. Thanks to these parameters we compare the absorption and desorption processes, in order to highlight the hysteresis phenomenon encountered during the hydrogen sorption.  相似文献

The present study investigated the effects of two types of natural rubber and different blend ratios on the cure, tensile properties and morphology of natural rubber/recycled chloroprene rubber blends. The blends of natural rubber/recycled chloroprene rubber were prepared by using laboratory two-roll mill. The result showed that the cure time prolonged with the addition of recycled chloroprene rubber (rCR). Comparability, natural rubber/recycled chloroprene rubber (SMR L/rCR) blendcured rapidly than epoxidized natural rubber/recycled chloroprene rubber (ENR 50/rCR) blend. The addition of rCRalso caused a decrement in the tensile strength and elongation at break for both rubber blends. The SMR L/rCR blendsshowed higher tensile strength and elongation at break compared to those of ENR 50/rCR blends at any blend ratios.  相似文献

A 5M Ni-Mn-Ga single crystal was investigated, supplied by Adaptamat Ltd, Finland. Especially low temperature magnetic actuation as well as cyclic tensile-compression tests revealed promising properties, which provide useful insights for training concepts in polycrystalline materials. Microstructure, surface topography, thermal and mechanical features of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV) electrospun non-woven mats were modified, modulated and tailored through blending with different polyethylene oxide (PEO) amounts (20, 30 and 50% wt/wt). The optimal parameters of the soaking protocol for the selective removal of the sacrificial polymer were accurately identified by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), Fourier transform infrared attenuated total reflectance (FTIR-ATR) spectroscopy, simultaneous thermogravimetric and differential analyses (TG-DTA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The complete PEO removal after soaking in H2O for 7 days with daily refreshment was confirmed. The resulting samples were only comprised of PHBV fibers characterized by a remarkable decrease of the average size with respect to the respective blends. Their surface topography was corrugated and rough and presented nodules, pits, nanopores, shallow and elongated nanostructured indents/grooves along the fiber axis. A remarkable reduction (>75%) of the tensile modulus (E) of electrospun PHBV mats (15–20 MPa) was obtained, maintaining comparable elongation at break (εmax) values (20–30%).  相似文献

The mechanical recyclability of the technical biopolymers polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT), cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB), polybutylene succinate (PBS) and polyhydroxy alkanoate blend (PHBV/PBAT) was evaluated by assessing the effect of repeated polymer processing (extrusion without further compounding with virgin material or additives) on the material structure and mechanical properties. Reprocessing-induced hydrolytic degradation was found to be the prevalent aging mechanism of the investigated biopolymer grades. However, susceptibility to hydrolysis, and thus maintenance of the performance characteristics, differed strongly between the biopolymer types. To that effect, PTT and CAB especially exhibit a high potential for mechanical recycling. By taking advantage of appropriate additivation, the mechanical recyclability of PBS and PHBV/PBAT is also assumed to be high.  相似文献

Rigid polyurethane foams with up to 50 wt% of microcapsules from LDPE-EVA containing Rubitherm®RT27 were synthesized. The influence of microcapsules on the foams density, microstructure and mechanical resistance was studied. Cell size and strut and wall thicknesses were analyzed by SEM. The relationships between densities and foam microstructures with their Young's moduli and collapse stress were found by the Gibson and Ashby formulations and the Kerner equation for mechanical properties of composites. It was found a cell structure change from polyhedral closed-cells to spherical or amorphous open-cells. A good agreement between the experimental and theoretical data was observed but requiring a cell form factor. Thus, Fitting parameters confirmed the high trend of these microcapsules to be incorporated into the foam cell walls and the form factors depicted the abrupt change of cell morphology. Thus, these equations are suitable for predicting the mechanical properties of foams containing fillers of low mechanical resistance.  相似文献

We have prepared polyion complex (PIC) hydrogel consisting of poly(3-(methacryloylami no) propyl-trimethylamonium chloride) and poly(sodium p-styrenesulfonate) polyelectrolytes via a two-step polymerization procedure and have investigated specific ion effects on the selfhealing of the PIC hydrogel. Our study demonstrates that the mechanical properties of the PIC hydrogel are strongly dependent on the type of the ions doped in the hydrogel. The ion-specific effects can be used to modulate the self-healing efficiency of the PIC hydrogel. As the doped anions change from kosmotrops to chaotropes, the self-healing efficiency of the PIC hydrogel increases. A more chaotropic anion has a stronger ability to break the ionic bonds formed within the hydrogel, leading to a higher efficiency during the healing.  相似文献

In this paper, polyvinyl alcohol/phytic acid polymer (PVA/PA polymer) was synthesized through esterification reaction of PVA and PA in the case of acidity and ultrasound irradiation and characterized, and PVA/PA polymer film was prepared by PVA/PA polymer and characterized, and the influence of dosage of PA on the thermal stability, mechanical properties and surface resistivity of PVA/PA polymer film were researched, and the influence of sonication time on the mechanical properties of PVA/PA polymer film was investigated. Based on those, it was concluded that the hydroxyl group on the chain of PVA and the phosphonic group on PA were connected together in the form of phosphonate bond, and the hydroxyl group on the chain of PVA were connected together in the form of ether bond after the intermolecular dehydration; in the meantime, it was also confirmed that PVA/PA polymer film prepared from 1.20 mL of PA not only had the high thermal stability and favorable ductility but also the low surface resistivity in comparison with PVA/PA polymer film with 0.00 mL of PA, and the ductility of PVA/PA polymer film was very sensitive to the sonication time.  相似文献
