Dynamic behaviour of an axially moving plate undergoing small cylindrical deformation submerged in axially flowing ideal fluid

The out-of-plane dynamic response of a moving plate, travelling between two rollers at a constant velocity, is studied, taking into account the mutual interaction between the vibrating plate and the surrounding, axially flowing ideal fluid. Transverse displacement of the plate (assumed cylindrical) is described by an integro-differential equation that includes a local inertia term, Coriolis and centrifugal forces, the aerodynamic reaction of the external medium, the vertical projection of membrane tension, the bending resistance, and external perturbation forces. In the two-dimensional model thus set up, the aerodynamic reaction is found analytically as a functional of the cylindrical displacement, using the techniques of complex analysis. The resulting integro-differential problem is discretized in space with the Fourier-Galerkin method, and integrated in time with the diagonalization method. Examples are computed with physical parameters corresponding to air and some paper materials. The effects of the surrounding fluid on the critical velocity and first natural frequency are investigated, for stationary air, for an air mass moving with the plate, and for some arbitrary axial fluid velocities. The obtained results are applicable for both an ideal membrane and a plate with nonzero bending rigidity.

Semi‐analytical solution of MHD flow through boundary integrals on the pipe wall

A mathematical model is given for the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) pipe flow as an inner Dirichlet problem in a 2D circular cross section of the pipe, coupled with an outer Dirichlet or Neumann magnetic problem. Inner Dirichlet problem is given as the coupled convection‐diffusion equations for the velocity and the induced current of the fluid coupling also to the outer problem, which is defined with the Laplace equation for the induced magnetic field of the exterior region with either Dirichlet or Neumann boundary condition. Unique solution of inner Dirichlet problem is obtained theoretically reducing it into two boundary integral equations defined on the boundary by using the corresponding fundamental solutions. Exterior solution is also given theoretically on the pipe wall with Poisson integral, and it is unique with Dirichlet boundary condition but exists with an additive constant obtained through coupled boundary and solvability conditions in Neumann wall condition. The collocation method is used to discretize these boundary integrals on the pipe wall. Thus, the proposed procedure is an improved theoretical analysis for combining the solution methods for the interior and exterior regions, which are consolidated numerically showing the flow behavior. The solution is simulated for several values of problem parameters, and the well‐known MHD characteristics are observed inside the pipe for increasing values of Hartmann number maintaining the continuity of induced currents on the pipe wall.     

Global regularity of the 2D magnetohydrodynamic equations with fractional anisotropic dissipation

This paper is dedicated to establishing the global regularity for the two dimensional magnetohydrodynamic equations with fractional anisotropic dissipation when the fractional powers are restricted to some certain ranges. In addition, the global regularity results for the two dimensional magnetohydrodynamic equations with partial dissipation are also obtained. Consequently, these results bring us more closer to the resolution of the global regularity problem on the two dimensional magnetohydrodynamic equations with standard Laplacian magnetic diffusion.     

Effect of Second Order Chemical Reaction on MHD Free Convective Radiating Flow over an Impulsively Started Vertical Plate

An attempt has been made to study laminar convective heat and mass transfer flow of an incompressible, viscous and electrically conducting fluid over an impulsively started vertical plate with conduction-radiation embedded in a porous medium in presence of transverse magnetic field. The influence of both second order chemical reaction and heat generation are taken into account. The governing coupled partial differential equations are solved by Crank-Nicolson method. The effects of important physical parameters on the velocity, temperature and concentration have been analyzed through graphs. The results of the present study agree well with the previous solutions. Applications of the present study are shown in material processing systems and different industries. The important findings of present study are: chemical reaction parameter acts as resistive force to reduce the velocity whereas heat source parameter enhances the velocity.     

关于BL-代数的模糊滤子与模糊理想

在BL-代数中引入模糊超滤子和模糊固执滤子的概念,证明了如下条件对于BL-代数的非常数模糊滤子f来说是等价的:(1)f是布尔的和素的,(2)f是蕴涵的和素的,(3)f是超的,(4)f是固执的。应用模糊正蕴涵滤子给出G-代数的若干特征性质。提出BL-代数模糊理想的概念,给出一些重要例子,并通过例子说明在BL-代数中模糊理想一般不能由模糊滤子导出。同时,从模糊理想出发构造了商BL-代数,并建立了相应的同态基本定理。最后,研究了BL-代数的几类模糊理想及其相互关系,给出模糊布尔理想、模糊素理想、模糊超理想的特征性质。     

External noise and its interaction with spatial degrees of freedom in nonlinear dissipative systems

A brief introduction to the field is given together with an overview of the lectures given at the workshop on External Noise and its Interaction with Spatial Degrees of Freedom in Nonlinear Dissipative Systems organized by the Center for Nonlinear Studies at Los Alamos, March 28–31, 1988. It is hoped that the publication of papers presented at the workshop in a single issue of theJournal of Statistical Physics will help draw attention to the recent developments in this rapidly area of nonequilibrium phenomena.     

Exact solution of thermal radiation on MHD flow over a stretching porous sheet

The effect of radiation on MHD steady asymmetric flow of an electrically conducting fluid past a stretching porous sheet in the presence of radiation has been analyzed. Exact solutions for the velocity and temperature fields have been derived and the effects of radiation, magnetic, Prandtl number, wall temperature and suction (or injection) parameters have been studied with the help of graphs.

Characterization of rankings generated by linear discriminant analysis

Pairwise linear discriminant analysis can be regarded as a process to generate rankings of the populations. But in general, not all rankings are generated. We give a characterization of generated rankings. We also derive some basic properties of this model.
