Tail probabilities of the limiting null distributions of the Anderson–Stephens statistics

For the purpose of testing the spherical uniformity based on i.i.d. directional data (unit vectors) z_i, i=1,…,n, Anderson and Stephens (Biometrika 59 (1972) 613–621) proposed testing procedures based on the statistics S_max=max_u S(u) and S_min=min_u S(u), where u is a unit vector and nS(u) is the sum of squares of u′z_i's. In this paper, we also consider another test statistic S_range=S_max−S_min. We provide formulas for the P-values of S_max, S_min, S_range by approximating tail probabilities of the limiting null distributions by means of the tube method, an integral-geometric approach for evaluating tail probability of the maximum of a Gaussian random field. Monte Carlo simulations for examining the accuracy of the approximation and for the power comparison of the statistics are given.     

Simulation of the instability of an accelerating gaseous envelope

The development of perturbations of the parameters of a dense gaseous envelope traveling with an acceleration driven by a difference in the pressures on either side is investigated numerically. Plane and axisymmetric time-dependent flows of a compressible medium are considered. The effect of both the density of the envelope and the form of the initial perturbations of its shape and motion on the mass cumulation in the compactions formed is studied. The evolutions of the perturbations of a layer and the surface of a contact discontinuity accelerated by an impinging plane shock wave are compared.     

不同倾角的脉管制冷机内自然对流影响的研究

本文通过对脉管内自然对流的数值模拟，讨论了当脉管冷端处在不同方向时，脉管内的自然对流对脉管制冷机性能的影响．数值模拟结果表明，当冷端在下时获得的制冷温度最低；当热端在下并与重力方向成３０°时制冷温度最高．结论与实验测量结果定性一致．所做的理论分析对实现脉管制冷机的良好运行有指导意义。     

Theoretical Analysis of the Motional Model of Nonlinear Heterogeneous Catalysis

In this paper, a model of the motional nonlinear heterogeneous catalysis process is discussed using the characteristic line method, the analytical results of elution profile are obtained and the formula which determines the parameters of reaction rate and adsorption isotherm through the motional measurement data under the nonlinear condition is given.     

衬钽管石墨炉原子吸收法测定痕量镓时基体改进剂的研究及应用

提出用钒和铜混合基体改进剂衬钽管石墨炉原子吸收测定镓的方法。衬钽管使镓的灵敏度提高6倍左右,钒和铜混合基体改进剂不仅能进一步提高灵敏度,而且能提高灰化温度,降低原子化温度,增强抗干扰能力。测定 GSD 标准样品中的镓时,不需对样品进行预分离即可直接进行测定,结果与参考值相符。     

Drift tube investigations on the reactions of O 2 + with CH4 and of CO 2 + with NO in various buffer gases

The influence of internal excitation on the reactions of O ₂ ⁺ + CH₄ and of CO ₂ ⁺ + NO has been investigated using a slow flow drift tube. The rate coefficients for these reactions obtained as a function of relative kinetic energy in various buffer gases like He, Ne, Ar, and Kr showed higher values under conditions where the internal excitation of the reactant ions was enhanced. For both reactions the lowest reactivity at all kinetic energies was observed to occur in He, indicating that He is the least effective buffer for collisionally inducing internal excitation of molecular ions.     

Volatile phase profiling of mainstream smoke by glass capillary gas-chromatographic techniques

A heated injection system for a microprocessor-controlled GC has been developed for the (GC)² analysis of the volatile phase of whole smoke of a cigarette. Effects of injection port temperature and the presence of a Cambridge filter pad are demonstrated. Chromatograms are shown for smoke samples with and without a Cambridge Filter with the sample valve oven at 25°, 165° and 205°C. The use of a flame ionization and a nitrogen-phosphorous detector is illustrated.     

Mechanical properties of SBR-networks: I. Determination of crosslink densities by stress-strain-measurements

The tube model is applied for the treatment of stress-strain measurements on SBR networks. It is shown that this theory allows the separation of crosslink and constraint contributions to the stress-strain behavior and, also, a reliable determination of crosslink densities. The consideration of dynamical contributions is discussed and a special numerical method is developed.     

Fused silica capillary tube isotachophoresis using a multichannel photodiode array detector

Isotachophoresis carried out in a 0.25 mm i.d. fused-silica capillary tube yielded high resolution, compared with that in a fluorinated ethylene-propylene polymer tube. The use of an ultraviolet-visible multichannel spectrophotometer with photodiode array as detector together with a cross flow cell (volume 0.01 μl) was investigated. The system was successfully applied to the analysis of cationic dyes such as neutral red, bismarck brown, and basic fuchsine.     

Poly(methacrylic acid-ethylene glycol dimethacrylate) monolith in-tube solid-phase microextraction applied to simultaneous analysis of some amphetamine derivatives in urine by capillary zone electrophoresis

A method based on in-tube solid-phase microextraction and capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) was proposed for simultaneously determining four amphetamines (amphetamine, methamphetamine, 3,4-methylenedioxyamphetamine, and 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine) in urine. A poly(methacrylic acid-ethylene glycol dimethacrylate) monolithic capillary column, which can provide sufficient extraction efficiency, was introduced for the extraction of amphetamines from urine samples. The hydrophobic main chains and acidic pendant groups of the monolithic column make it a superior material for extraction of basic analytes from aqueous matrix. After extraction, the samples were analyzed by CZE. The best separation was achieved using a buffer composed of 0.1 M disodium hydrogen phosphate (adjusted to pH 4.5 with 1 M hydrochloric acid) and 20% methanol v/v, with a temperature and voltage of 25 degrees C and 20 kV, respectively. By applying electrokinetic injection with field-amplified sample stacking, detection limits of 25-34 microg/L were achieved. Excellent method of reproducibility was found over a linear range of 0.1-5 mg/L. Determination of these analytes from abusers' urine sample was also demonstrated.
