We investigate the perihelion shift of the planetary motion and the bending of starlight in the Schwarzschild field modified by the presence of a -term plus a conical defect. This analysis generalizes an earlier result obtained by Islam (Phys. Lett. A 97, 239, 1983) to the case of a pure cosmological constant. By using the experimental data we obtain that the parameter characterizing the conical defect is less than 10–9 and 10–7, respectively, on the length scales associated with such phenomena. In particular, if the defect is generated by a cosmic string, these values correspond to limits on the linear mass densities of 1019 g/cm and 1021 g/cm, respectively. 相似文献

Interactions between conical spray flames and sinusoidal velocity modulations due to the propagation of acoustic waves have been studied thanks to direct numerical simulations (DNS). A 2D axi-symmetric configuration has been used to capture the evolution of the pulsating laminar flames. The DNS solver has been coupled with a Lagrangian model to account for the dispersion and evaporation of the liquid fuel in the computational domain. Four main configurations, with a unitary global equivalence ratio, have been studied. Apart from a gaseous reference case, one polydispersed and two monodispersed Bunsen-type injections with various droplets density and inertia have been simulated. DNS results are in good agreement with experimental data. For significant acoustic Stokes numbers, results showed a double effect of the modulations on the flame: a direct disturbance of the flame front and a secondary impact through the local variation of the mixture fraction due to droplets preferential segregation. 相似文献

Triplet-triplet annihilation (TTA) is a spin-allowed conversion of two triplet states into one singlet excited state, which provides an efficient route to generate a photon of higher frequency than the incident light. Multiple energy transfer steps between absorbing (sensitizer) and emitting (annihilator) molecular species are involved in the TTA based photon upconversion process. TTA compounds have recently been studied for solar energy applications, even though the maximum upconversion efficiency of 50 % is yet to be achieved. With the aid of quantum calculations and based on a few key requirements, several design principles have been established to develop the well-functioning annihilators. However, a complete molecular level understanding of triplet fusion dynamics is still missing. In this work, we have employed multi-reference electronic structure methods along with quantum dynamics to obtain a detailed and fundamental understanding of TTA mechanism in naphthalene. Our results suggest that the TTA process in naphthalene is mediated by conical intersections. In addition, we have explored the triplet fusion dynamics under the influence of strong light-matter coupling and found an increase of the TTA based upconversion efficiency. 相似文献

The convergent flow of viscoelastic fluids in conical nozzles has been examined. The experimentally determined streamlines agreed with those obtained from calculations with an approximation up to \(\dot V^2 \) Because of the elasticity of the fluid a rotationally symmetric eddy arises. It clings to the wall whereas the output flow proceeds in the middle. When $$\frac{\varrho }{{\eta _0 }}\left( {\frac{{\dot V^2 }}{{t_0 }}} \right)^{{1 \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {1 3}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} 3}} > 40$$ > 40 another eddy can arise in front of the first one. This second eddy is situated in the middle and causes the output to proceed as a flow near the wall. Over the past decade and a half there have been a number of numerical studies of the reflection of oblique axisymmetric shock
waves from the axis of symmetry. Many of these have shown a complex Mach reflection pattern together with a strong toroidal
vortex which significantly distorts the Mach disk. This geometry has never been captured experimentally. This note describes
a special rig for the generation of strong imploding conical shocks, and presents photographs of the predicted reflection
pattern.

The photoinduced dynamics of pyrrole at the – S0 and – S0 conical intersections has been investigated by multi-mode time-dependent quantum wave-packet calculations. Diabatic potential-energy surfaces have been constructed for both conical intersection using accurate multi-reference ab initio electronic-structure calculations. In addition to the NH stretching coordinate, the three (four) symmetry-allowed coupling modes of A2 (B1) symmetry have been considered for the – S0 (– S0) conical intersections. Wave-packet dynamics calculations have been performed for three-dimensional models, taking account of the two dominant coupling modes of each conical intersection. The electronic population-transfer processes at the conical intersections, the branching ratio for the dissociation to the ground and excited states of the pyrrolyl radical, and their dependence on the initial preparation of the system have been investigated. It is shown that the excitation of the NH stretching mode strongly enhances the photodissociation rate, while the excitation of the strongest coupling mode has a pronounced effect on the branching ratio of the photodissociation process. Although the inclusion of the second (weaker) coupling mode has little effect on the electronic population dynamics, it leads to interesting changes of the nodal pattern of the wave packet at the conical intersections. The calculations provide insight into the effect of the multiple coupling modes on the process of direct photodissociation through a conical intersection. 相似文献
