The multicomponent T2 relaxation in bovine nasal cartilage (BNC) was investigated by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy using the Carr-Purcell-Meiboom-Gill (CPMG) sequence and microscopic magnetic resonance imaging (μMRI) method using a CPMG-SE imaging sequence. All experimental data were analyzed by the non-negative least square (NNLS) procedure. Only one T2 component was found in BNC by both experimental methods (about 113 and 170 ms before and after being enzymatically digested by trypsin). Several experimental and specimen-related factors were investigated in this study, and it was found that some of them could produce artificial multi-component T2, including the use of the standard MSME imaging sequence at certain imaging gradients.  相似文献

High intake of saturated fat from meats has been associated with cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, and others diseases. In this paper, we are introducing a simple, high-throughput, and non-destructive low-resolution nuclear magnetic resonance method that has the potential to analyze the intramuscular fat content (IMF) in more than 1,000 beef portions per hour. The results can be used in nutritional fact labels, replacing the currently used average value. The method is based on longitudinal (T 1) and transverse (T 2) relaxation time information obtained by a continuous wave-free precession (CWFP) sequence. CWFP yields a higher correlation coefficient (r = 0.9) than the conventional Carr-Purcell-Meiboom-Gill (CPMG) method (r = −0.25) for IMF in beef and is just as fast and a simpler pulse sequence than CPMG. The method can also be applied to other meat products.  相似文献

With a proper timing of pi pulses, it is possible to reduce the effect of the static internal magnetic field gradient on the measurement of diffusion with the pulsed gradient spin echo (PGSE). A pulse sequence that in the first order eliminates the effect of weak internal static gradients in a standard PGSE experiment is introduced. The method should be applied in the cases, where strong and short magnetic gradient pulses are used to investigate the motion of liquid in heterogeneous samples with large susceptibility differences such as porous media.  相似文献

To reliably measure NMR relaxation properties of macromolecules is a prerequisite for precise experiments that identify subtle variations in relaxation rates, as required for the determination of rotational diffusion anisotropy, CSA tensor determination, advanced motional modeling or entropy difference estimations. An underlying problem with current NMR relaxation measurement protocols is maintaining constant sample temperature throughout the execution of the relaxation series especially when rapid data acquisition is required. Here, it is proposed to use a combination of a heating compensation and a proton saturation sequence at the beginning of the NMR relaxation pulse scheme. This simple extension allows reproducible, robust and rapid acquisition of NMR spin relaxation data sets. The method is verified with (15)N spin relaxation measurements for human ubiquitin.  相似文献

A remarkable enhancement of sensitivity can be often achieved in 29Si solid-state NMR by applying the well-known Carr–Purcell–Meiboom–Gill (CPMG) train of rotor-synchronized π pulses during the detection of silicon magnetization. Here, several one- and two-dimensional (1D and 2D) techniques are used to demonstrate the capabilities of this approach. Examples include 1D 29Si{X} CPMAS spectra and 2D 29Si{X} HETCOR spectra of mesoporous silicas, zeolites and minerals, where X = 1H or 27Al. Data processing methods, experimental strategies and sensitivity limits are discussed and illustrated by experiments. The mechanisms of transverse dephasing of 29Si nuclei in solids are analyzed. Fast magic angle spinning, at rates between 25 and 40 kHz, is instrumental in achieving the highest sensitivity gain in some of these experiments. In the case of 29Si–29Si double-quantum techniques, CPMG detection can be exploited to measure homonuclear J-couplings.  相似文献

Previous studies have shown that T2(dagger)-weighted magnetic resonance images acquired using localization by adiabatic selective refocusing (LASER) can provide early tissue contrast following ischemia, possibly due to alterations in microscopic susceptibility within the tissue. The purpose of this study was to make a direct in vivo comparison of T2-, T2(dagger)- and diffusion-weighted image contrast during acute ischemia. Acute middle cerebral artery (MCA) occlusion was attempted in 14 rats using a modified Tamura approach incorporating electrocoagulation of the left MCA. T2(dagger)-weighted LASER images (Echo Time [TE]=108 ms), T2-weighted Carr-Purcell-Meiboom-Gill (CPMG) images (TE=110 ms) and diffusion-weighted images (b value=105 s/mm(2)) were acquired at 4 T within 1.5 h of ischemia onset. Tissue contrast in the MCA territory was quantified for histologically verified ischemic tissue (n=6) and in sham controls (n=4). T2(dagger)-weighted LASER images demonstrated greater contrast compared to the T2-weighted CPMG images, and more focal contrast compared to the diffusion-weighted images, suggesting different contrast mechanisms were involved.  相似文献

The generating functions (GF) formalism was applied for calculation of spin density matrix evolution under the influence of periodic trains of RF pulses. It was shown that in a general case, closed expression for the generating function can be found that allows in many cases to derive analytical expressions for the generating function of spin density matrix (magnetization, coherences). This approach was shown to be particularly efficient for the analysis of multi-echo sequences, where one has to average over various frequency isochromats. The explicit analytical expressions for the generating function for echo amplitudes in a Carr–Purcell–Meiboom–Gill (CPMG) echo sequence, a multiecho sequence with incremental phase of refocusing pulse, a gradient echo sequence including transient period were obtained for an arbitrary flip angle and an arbitrary resonance offset. Comparison of the theory and the spin-echo experiments was done, demonstrating a good agreement.  相似文献
