Defect clusters in titanium-substituted spinel-related lithium ferrite

The cation distribution in spinel-related titanium-substituted lithium ferrite, Li_0.5+0.5xFe_2.5−1.5xTi_xO₄ has been explored using interatomic potential and ab initio calculations. The results suggest that the cation distribution with Ti⁴⁺ substituting for Fe³⁺ on octahedral B sites and excess Li⁺ substituting for Fe³⁺ on tetrahedral A sites is stabilised by the formation of clusters of two octahedrally coordinated Ti⁴⁺ ions and one tetrahedrally coordinated Li⁺ ion linked through a common oxygen.     

Charge density study under high pressure

The experimental and analytical method of the high-pressure powder experiment at BL10XU, SPring-8, is described. There is no doubt that BL10XU must be one of the most appropriate beam lines for high pressure X-ray diffraction experiment taking advantage of third generation synchrotron source. As an example of the advanced charge density study under high pressure, the structural change of Cs₂Au₂Br₆ by applying pressure is studied by Rietveld/MEM analysis. It reveals that the structural change of Cs₂Au₂Br₆ by applying pressure occurs basically at electron level, such as valence state change and chemical bonding, which may be called the electronic phase transition.     

Partially Classical States of a Boson Field

Employing positive-definiteness arguments we analyse Boson field states, which combine classical and quantum mechanical features (signal and noise), in a constructive manner. Mathematically, they constitute Bauer simplexes within the convex, weak-*-compact state space of the C*-Weyl algebra, defined by a presymplectic test function space (smooth one-Boson wave functions) and are affinely homeomorphic to a state space of a classical field. The regular elements are expressed in terms of weak distributions (probability premeasures) on the dual test function space. The Bauer simplex arising from the bare vacuum is shown to generalize the quantum optical photon field states with positive P-functions.     

Epoxy based coatings on glass: strengthening mechanisms

Glass may be strengthened by epoxy coatings although the strengthening mechanisms remain unclear. Possible strengthening mechanisms are reviewed and are used to analyse strength data for both a solvent based and a water based coating system. The coatings either fill (solvent based coatings), or partially fill (water based coatings) surface cracks and it is shown that closure stresses arising from the thermal expansion mismatch of the coating within these cracks can account for the observed degrees of strengthening. It is also demonstrated that other suggested mechanisms such as flaw healing cannot fully account for the observed degree of strengthening.     

Laplacians and the Cheeger Inequality for Directed Graphs

We consider Laplacians for directed graphs and examine their eigenvalues. We introduce a notion of a circulation in a directed graph and its connection with the Rayleigh quotient. We then define a Cheeger constant and establish the Cheeger inequality for directed graphs. These relations can be used to deal with various problems that often arise in the study of non-reversible Markov chains including bounding the rate of convergence and deriving comparison theorems.Received September 8, 2004     

Transition‐metal‐catalyzed reactions of 5‐methylene‐2‐oxazolidinone and 5‐methylene‐1,3‐thiazolidine‐2‐thione with isocyanates

5‐Methylene‐2‐oxazolidinone (1) and 5‐methylene‐1,3‐thiazolidine‐2‐thione (4) react with various isocyanates to give the corresponding urethanes 3 and 5 in high yields in the presence of palladium(0) or palladium(II) catalyst under mild reaction conditions. Orbital formal normal forms for general Bogdanov-Takens singularity

We solve completely the problem of classification of germs of complex planar vector fields with nilpotent singularity with respect to formal orbital equivalence.     

江浙蝮蛇蛇毒蛋白C激活因子基因的克隆及测序

从江浙蝮蛇毒腺中抽提总RNA，RT－PCR进行体外扩增，获得江浙蝮蛇蛇毒蛋白C激活因子基因，克隆至pGEX-5X-3载体中，对3个重组克隆分别作DNA全序列分析，通过遗传密码推导出相应的氨基酸序列，与其它已知的丝氨酸复白酶蛇毒蛋白的氨基酸作比较，其中许多上氨基酸有很强的同源性，该基因的成功克隆，不仅推导出江浙蝮蛇蛇毒蛋白C激活因子的蛋白质序列，也为进一步开展江浙蝮蛇蛇毒蛋白C激活因子蛋白质工程的研究工作打下良好的基础。     

Inner Radius of Univalence for a Strongly Starlike Domain

 The inner radius of univalence of a domain D with Poincaré density ρ _D is the possible largest number σ such that the condition ∥ S _f ∥ _D  = sup _{w∈ D} ρ _D (w) ⁻²∥ S _f (z) ∥ ≤ σ implies univalence of f for a nonconstant meromorphic function f on D, where S _f is the Schwarzian derivative of f. In this note, we give a lower bound of the inner radius of univalence for strongly starlike domains of order α in terms of the order α. C2（a 3Πu）+NO 的反应机理研究

在G2 (CC ,MP2 )理论水平上研究了C2 (a3 Πu)自由基与NO分子的反应 .计算了反应体系最低二重态势能面上各驻点的构型参数、振动频率和能量 ,揭示了此反应存在两种反应机理 :由NO中的O原子进攻C2 自由基形成CCON中间体的CCON机理和NO中的N进攻C2 自由基形成CCNO中间体的CCNO机理 ,分析了对应与这两种反应机理的五个可能的反应通道 ,得出了由NO中的N原子进攻3 C2 自由基 ,生成中间体CCNO自由基 ,最终得到产物CN +CO的通道是最有利的通道 .
