Ab initio studies (LCAO-MO method) on conformers of three seleno derivatives of the biuret molecules diselenobiuret [I], selenobiuret [II], and selenothiobiuret [III] were carried out at the Hartree-Fock (HF) and MP2 levels. The molecular geometries of these species were fully optimized at the HF level and characterized by analysis of the harmonic vibrational frequencies using a split-valence triple-zeta basis set augmented by a set ofd polarization functions on heavy atoms andp polarization functions on hydrogen atoms [TZP(d, p)]. The total energies of the HF-optimized structures were calculated at the MP2 (frozen core) level using a larger TZP (2df, 2pd) basis set. The potential energy searches revealed a total of 11 minimum-energy conformers (assigned astrans-trans, trans-cis, cis-trans, andcis-cis) and seven transition-state species for the title molecules. The two predicted conformers for diselenobiuret (Ia=trans-trans andIc=cis-cis) are characterized byC

Ab initio calculations using the MP2/cc-pVTZ basis set do an excellent job of predicting the inversion barrier (247 vs. 232 cm−1) and dihedral angle (26°) of cyclopentene. DFT calculations also do an excellent job of predicting the vibrational frequencies of the d0, d1, d4, and d8 isotopomers. The structures and energies of the 1:1 acetylene/cyanoacetylene, acetylene/dicyanoacetylene and cyanoacetylene/dicyanoacetylene complexes in solid argon matrices have been investigated using FT-IR spectroscopy and ab initio calculations, at the B3LYP/6-31G** level of theory. For the three complexes, predicted frequency shifts for the L shaped structures, characterized by a hydrogen bond between the nitrogen of the cyano group and the acetylenic proton, were found to be in good agreement with those experimental. Only in the case of acetylene/cyanoacetylene complex, we obtained a second minimum with a T shaped structure characterized by an interaction between the proton of cyanoacetylene and the Π system of acetylene. It appears clearly that HC3N acts as an electrophile or as a nucleophile in these complexes. 相似文献

Ab initio molecular orbital theory and density functional theory have been used to study nine isomers of N7 ionic clusters with low spin at the HF/6-31G*, MP2/6-31G*, B3LYP/6-31G*, and B3LYP/6-311(+)G* levels of theory. All stationary
points are examined with harmonic vibrational frequency analyses. Four N7
+ isomers and five N7
− isomers are determined to be local minima or very close to the minima on their potential-energy hypersurfaces, respectively.
For N7
+ and N7
−, the energetically low lying isomers are open-chain structures (C
2
v
and C

v
or C2). The results are very similar to those of other known odd-number nitrogen ions, such as N5
+, N9
+, and N9
−, for which the open-chain structures are also the global minima. This research suggests that the N7 ionic clusters are likely to be stable and to be potential high-energy-density materials if they could be synthesized.

The vibrational frequencies of the N–H stretching modes of aniline after forming a strong doubly H-bonded complex with tetrahydrofuran (THF) are measured with infrared depletion spectroscopy that uses cluster-size-selective resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) time-of-flight mass spectrometry. Two strong infrared absorption features observed at 3355 and 3488 cm−1 are assigned to the symmetric and antisymmetric N–H stretching vibrations of the 1:2 aniline–THF complex, respectively. The red-shifts of the N–H stretching vibrations of aniline agree with the ab initio calculated (MP2/6-31G**) aniline-(THF)2 structure in which both aniline N–H bonds interact with the oxygen atom of THF through two hydrogen bonds. The calculated binding energy is found to be 29.6 kJ mol−1 after corrections for basis set superposition error (BSSE) and zero-point energy. The calculated structure revealed that the angle between the N–H bonds in the NH2 group increased to 112.5° in the aniline–(THF)2 complex from that of 109.8° in the aniline. The electronic 0–0 band origin for the S1 ← S0 transition is observed at 32,900 cm−1 in the aniline–(THF)2 complex, giving a red-shift of 1129 cm−1 from that of the aniline molecule. 相似文献
