The problem addressed in this paper is to compare the minimum cost of the two randomized control policies in the M/G/1 queueing system with an unreliable server, a second optional service, and general startup times. All arrived customers demand the first required service, and only some of the arrived customers demand a second optional service. The server needs a startup time before providing the first required service until the system becomes empty. After all customers are served in the queue, the server immediately takes a vacation and the system operates the (T, p)-policy or (p, N)-policy. For those two policies, the expected cost functions are established to determine the joint optimal threshold values of (T, p) and (p, N), respectively. In addition, we obtain the explicit closed form of the joint optimal solutions for those two policies. Based on the minimal cost, we show that the optimal (p, N)-policy indeed outperforms the optimal (T, p)-policy. Numerical examples are also presented for illustrative purposes.  相似文献

Matching for a wavefunction the WKB expansion at large distances and Taylor expansion at small distances leads to a compact, few-parametric uniform approximation found in Turbiner and Olivares-Pilon (2011). The ten low-lying eigenstates of H2+ of the quantum numbers (n,m,Λ,±)(n,m,Λ,±)  with n=m=0n=m=0 at Λ=0,1,2Λ=0,1,2, with n=1n=1, m=0m=0 and n=0n=0, m=1m=1 at Λ=0Λ=0 of both parities are explored for all interproton distances RR. For all these states this approximation provides the relative accuracy ?10−5?105 (not less than 5 s.d.) locally, for any real coordinate xx in eigenfunctions, when for total energy E(R)E(R) it gives 10-11 s.d. for R∈[0,50]R[0,50]  a.u. Corrections to the approximation are evaluated in the specially-designed, convergent perturbation theory. Separation constants are found with not less than 8 s.d. The oscillator strength for the electric dipole transitions E1E1 is calculated with not less than 6 s.d. A dramatic dip in the E1E1 oscillator strength f1sσg−3pσuf1sσg3pσu at R∼ReqRReq is observed. The magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole transitions are calculated for the first time with not less than 6 s.d. in oscillator strength. For two lowest states (0,0,0,±)(0,0,0,±) (or, equivalently, 1sσg1sσg and 2pσu2pσu states) the potential curves are checked and confirmed in the Lagrange mesh method within 12 s.d. Based on them the Energy Gap between 1sσg1sσg and 2pσu2pσu potential curves is approximated with modified Pade Re−R[Pade(8/7)](R)ReR[Pade(8/7)](R) with not less than 4-5 figures at R∈[0,40]R[0,40] a.u. Sum of potential curves E1sσg+E2pσuE1sσg+E2pσu is approximated by Pade 1/R[Pade(5/8)](R)1/R[Pade(5/8)](R) in R∈[0,40]R[0,40] a.u. with not less than 3-4 figures.  相似文献

Let a normed space X possess a tiling T consisting of unit balls. We show that any packing P of X obtained by a small perturbation of T is completely translatively saturated; that is, one cannot replace finitely many elements of P by a larger number of unit balls such that the resulting arrangement is still a packing.In contrast with that, given a tiling T of Rn with images of a convex body C under Euclidean isometries, there may exist packings P consisting of isometric images of C obtained from T by arbitrarily small perturbations which are no longer completely saturated. This means that there exists some positive integer k such that one can replace k−1 members of P by k isometric copies of C without violating the packing property. However, we quantify a tradeoff between the size of the perturbation and the minimal k such that the above phenomenon occurs.Analogous results are obtained for coverings.  相似文献

A thorough review of 35/37Cl, 79/81Br, and 127I solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (SSNMR) data is presented. Isotropic chemical shifts (CS), quadrupolar coupling constants, and other available information on the magnitude and orientation of the CS and electric field gradient (EFG) tensors for chlorine, bromine, and iodine in diverse chemical compounds is tabulated on the basis of over 200 references. Our coverage is through July 2005. Special emphasis is placed on the information available from the study of powdered diamagnetic solids in high magnetic fields. Our survey indicates a recent notable increase in the number of applications of solid-state quadrupolar halogen NMR, particularly 35Cl NMR, as high magnetic fields have become more widely available to solid-state NMR spectroscopists. We conclude with an assessment of possible future directions for research involving 35/37Cl, 79/81Br, and 127I solid-state NMR spectroscopy.  相似文献

We consider the problem of describing all non-negative integer solutions to a linear congruence in many variables. This question may be reduced to solving the congruence x1 + 2x2 + 3x3 + + (n − 1)xn−1 ≡ 0 (mod n) where i ∈ ? = {0, 1, 2, }. We consider the monoid of solutions of this equation and prove equivalent two conjectures of Elashvili concerning the structure of these solutions. This yields a simple algorithm for generating most (conjecturally all) of the high degree indecomposablc solutions of the equation.  相似文献

The two- or three-dimensional electromagnetic diffraction problem for a half-plane impedance or reactance sheet belongs to a class of elliptic transmission problems of mixed type. Sobolev spaces of order 1 and ±1/2 are naturally involved according to the energy norm and the trace theorem, respectively. This operator theoretic approach presents the equivalence to systems of Wiener-Hopf equations and their solution in the sense of a well-posed problem with respect to the spaces under consideration. Slightly different impedance numbers for the two banks of the screen lead to a perturbation problem. All results yield direct a priori estimates for the solutions.  相似文献

The study of Cauchy problem of the Boltzmann equation is important in both theory and applications. Existence of global solutions to the equation and uniform stability of solutions in the absence of external force were introduced in the previous work on the Boltzmann equation. In this paper, we will investigate the uniform stability of solutions in L1 for the Cauchy problem of the Boltzmann equation when there is an external force for the case of soft potentials.  相似文献

We show that for any positive integer k?4, if R is a (2k-1)×(2k-1) partial Latin square, then R is avoidable given that R contains an empty row, thus extending a theorem of Chetwynd and Rhodes. We also present the idea of avoidability in the setting of partial r-multi Latin squares, and give some partial fillings which are avoidable. In particular, we show that if R contains at most nr/2 symbols and if there is an n×n Latin square L such that δn of the symbols in L cover the filled cells in R where 0<δ<1, then R is avoidable provided r is large enough.  相似文献
