A new method for the synthesis of CF3-containing aminovinyl ketones

A new method for the synthesis of aminovinyl trifluoromethyl ketones was developed. The method is based on the reactions of 4-sulfonyl-1,1,1-trifluorobut-3-ene-2,2-diols with various alkyl-, aryl-, dialkyl-, and alkylarylamines. The stereochemistry of the compounds obtained was studied.

A new synthetic route for the preparation of the betain-like compound (CH₃N)₆P₄F₈ from (CH₃NPF₃)₂,N-methyl-hexamethyldisilazane andN,N-dimethyl-urea has been found. The steps of this multi-stage reaction could be rationalized to a far extent.

Tautomerism and Acidic Properties of N‐Unsubstituted Benzohydroxamic Acids: Semiempirical Quantum Chemical Estimation

Tautomerism of Nunsubstituted benzohydroxamic acids and their anions in the gas phase was investigated by the semiempirical AM1 method. The possibility of estimating pK _a in aqueous solutions using calculated characteristics of molecules is demonstrated.     

Thermostability of landscape phage probes

Immunoassays have traditionally relied on antibodies as diagnostic probes. Their use outside of a laboratory, however, may be problematic because antibodies are often unstable in severe environmental conditions. Environmental monitoring requires thermostable probes, such as landscape phage, that carry thousands of foreign peptides on their surfaces, are superior to antibodies, and can operate in non-controlled conditions. While parent wild-type phage are known to be extremely stable in various media at high temperatures, no work has been done to demonstrate the stability of landscape phage probes. We examined the thermostability of a landscape phage probe and a monoclonal antibody specific for -galactosidase in parallel in an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) format. They were both stable for greater than six months at room temperature, but at higher temperatures the antibody degraded more rapidly than the phage probe. Phage retained detectable binding ability for more than six weeks at 63 °C, and three days at 76 °C. The activation energy of phage degradation was determined to be 1.34×10⁵ J/mol. These results confirm that phage probes are highly thermostable and can function even after exposure to high temperatures during shipping, storage and operation.     

Synthesis of 4-Benzylsulfonyl-5-polyfluoroalkyl-ν-triazoles from 1,1-Dihydropolyfluoroalkyl Benzyl Sulfones

The reaction of 1,1-dihydropolyfluoroalkyl benzyl sulfones with sodium azide or trimethylsilyl azide in the presence of tertiary amines gives ammonium salts of 4-benzylsulfonyl-5-polyfluoroalkyl--triazoles. The proposed reaction scheme includes the participation of catalytic amounts of azide ion in the cyclization of the formed intermediate vinyl azides to triazoles. X-ray analysis of 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane salt of 4-benzylsulfonyl-5-(-H-hexafluoropropyl)--triazole has been carried out.     

High temperature corrosion behaviour of M(Co,Ni)CrAIY-coatings on high temperature materials-microanalytical investigations

In our former investigations, the phenomenon high temperature corrosion (HTC) was described exemplarily on selected materialcoating combinations for blades of stationary gas turbines, mainly in the temperature region of up to 750° C. To answer the question, in which manner higher gas inlet and/or higher material surface temperature would influence the HTC behaviour, a special analytical technique—the integral layer profile analysis—was introduced to ameliorate concentration profile methods. By examining IN 738 LC specimens with CoCrAlY plasma spray coating, stressed by hot gas at 900° C, the limits of this system are shown by explaining the corrosion mechanism; the method is also used for other systems, e.g. U 520 with NiCrAlY coating at 750° C.     

Conformational behaviour of 2,2′-bipyrrole

The rotational potential around the interannular bond in 2,2-bipyrrole has been calculated making use of standard minimal STO-3G and split valence 4-31G basis sets. Geometrical optimization concerning the most significant interannular internal parameters has been performed with both basis sets. The trans conformer is predicted to be more stable than the cis. The minimal basis set predicts the existence of a cisoid-gauche minimum which after limited optimization becomes very shallow and it seems to be an artifact of the rigid rotor approximation. At 4-31G level, both the trans and cis conformers represent maxima in the potential curve and two gauche minima appear at =46.0° and =147.6°, the latter being the absolute minimum. The absolute maximum of the potential curve corresponds to the cis conformer.     

A new approach to 6-deoxy-D-allofuranose- and 6-deoxy-L-talofuranose derivatives from 1,2:5,6-di-O-isopropylidene α-D-glucofuranose

3-O-Acetyl-1,2-O-isopropylidene--D-allofuranose (2 b) was prepared from 1,2:5,6-di-O-isopropylidene--D-allofuranose (1 b). Treatment of2 b with triphenylphosphine-diethyl azodicarboxylate afforded regio- and stereospecifically the 5,6-epoxy--D-allo derivative (3). The other diastereomeric compound, 5,6-epoxy-1,2-O-isopropylidene--L-talofuranose (6) was also prepared stereoselectively from2 b via the intermediates5 a and5 b. The epoxy sugars3 and6 were converted with lithium aluminum hydride to the corresponding 6-deoxy-1,2-O-isopropylidene--D-allofuranose (4 a) and --L-talofuranose (7 a) derivatives. Hydrolysis of4 a and7 a afforded 6-deoxy-D-allose and 6-deoxy-L-talose, respectively. The corresponding 3,5-di-O-acetyl- (4 b and7 b) and the 3,5-O-(tetraisopropyldisiloxane-1,3-diyl) derivatives (4 c and7 c) are also described. Selective removal of the isopropylidene group and subsequent acetylation offers a convenient route to prepare sugar derivatives containing furanose ring, like8 b, as a suitable precursor for nucleoside analogs.Herrn Prof. Dr.K.
