A parallel plate shear rheometer for polymer melts was built for superposed shear tests in two orthogonal directions. To examine its performance, a standard test was developed, including a change of the shear direction by angles between 0° and 180°. The results were analyzed to obtain preliminary information on the multidirectional shear behavior of a low-density polyethylene melt. The measured orthogonal components of the shear force were added and then split again into components of the original and of the changed shear direction. It was found, within the range of error, that these components depend only on time and on the shear rate, but not on the angle by which the shear direction is changed. We prove the local existence and uniqueness to a geometrically exact, observer‐invariant membrane‐plate model introduced by the author. The model consists of an elliptic partial differential system of equations describing the equilibrium response of the membrane which is non‐linearly coupled with a viscoelastic evolution equation for exact rotations, taking on the role of an orthonormal triad of directors. This coupling introduces a viscoelastic transverse shear resistance. Refined elliptic regularity results together with a new extended Korn's first inequality for plates and shells allow to proceed by a fixed point argument in appropriately chosen Sobolev‐spaces in order to prove existence and uniqueness. A two-dimensional linearized problem on plane buckling modes (BMs) of a rectangular plate with free edges, made of an elastic orthotropic material, underbiaxial tension-compression is considered. With the use of double trigonometric basis functions, displacement functions exactly satisfying all static boundary condition on plate edges are constructed. It is shown that the exact analytic solutions found describe only the pure shear BMs, and if the normal stress in one direction is assumed equal to zero, an analog of the solution given by the kinematic Timoshenko model can be obtained. Upon performing the limit passage to the zero harmonic in the displacement functions of one of the directions, the solution to the problem of biaxial compression can be obtained by equating the Poisson ratio to zero; in the case of uniaxial compression, this solution exactly agrees with that following from the classical Bernoulli-Euler model. __________ Translated from Mekhanika Kompozitnykh Materialov, Vol. 43, No. 2, pp. 149–170, March–April, 2007.  相似文献

对于一类同时存在扩散耦合和梯度耦合的非线性振子系统, 通过空间傅里叶变换,得到具有不同波矢的各运动模式的相互独立的运动方程. 计算各横截模的Lyapunov指数, 可在耦合参数平面上确定同步混沌的稳定区域. 在稳定区域边界, 一对共轭横截模式失稳,导致同步混沌的Hopf分岔. 对耦合Lorenz振子系统进行了数值模拟,并设计了耦合Lorenz振子系统的电路, 进行耦合振子系统同步混沌Hopf分岔的电路仿真实验. 计算和仿真的结果表明,Hopf分岔的特征频率等于失稳横截模式的振荡频率. 关键词: 耦合非线性振子 同步混沌 横截模式 电路仿真  相似文献

For a more complete understanding of the toughening mechanism of polypropylene (PP)/ethylene‐propylene‐diene rubber (EPDM) blends, dynamic packing injection molding was used to control the phase morphology and rubber particle orientation in the matrix. The relative impact strength of the blends increased at low EPDM contents, and then a definite ductile–brittle (D–B) transition was observed when the EPDM content reached 25 wt %, at which point blends should fail in the ductile mode with conventional molding. Wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction (WAXD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to investigate the shear‐induced crystal structure, morphology, orientation, and phase separation of the blends. WAXD results showed that the observed D–B transition took place mainly for a constant crystal structure (α form). Also, no remarkable changes in the crystallinity and melting point of PP were observed by DSC. The highly oriented and elongated rubber particles were seen via SEM at high EPDM contents. Our results suggest that Wu's criterion is no longer valid when dispersed rubber particles are elongated and oriented. The possible fracture mechanism is discussed on the basis of the stress concentration in a filler‐dispersed matrix. It can be concluded that not only the interparticle distance but also the stress fields around individual particles play an important role in polymer toughening. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In the paper, the bending stiffness and strength of multilayer structural elements in relation to the mechanical properties of layers and their number layout and sizes are investigated and the corresponding correlations are established. It is found that the most rational structure of a multilayer element in bending is a symmetric three-layer structure formed from two materials with the thickness of the core less than the half-thickness of the element. The values of normal stresses in the layers of a multilayer beam in bending depends on its bending stiffness and the position of layers relative to the neutral axis. The influence of the number of layers on the stiffness of the structural element and on the magnitude of normal stresses is insignificant.  相似文献

Shear damage may occur in the process of metal machining such as blanking and cutting, where localized shear deformation is developed. Experimental findings indicate that microscopic shear damage evolution in aluminium alloy 2024T3 (A1 2024T3) is a multi-stage mechanism, including particle cracking, micro-shear banding, matrix microcracking and coalescence of microcracks. This study is an attempt to use a set of equations to describe the multi-stage shear damage evolution in Al 2024T3. The shear damage variables in terms of multi-couple parameters of a power-law hardening material have been defined. An evolution curve of shearing damage has been calculated from experimental data. The values of the shear damage variable at different stages of damage have also been calculated. By making use of the findings, the relation between the microscopic shear damage evolution and the macroscopic shear response of the material has been discussed.  相似文献

剪切失效是强动载荷作用下结构失效的重要模式。本文给出了计及梁的转动惯量时端头带有质量块的悬臂梁结构受到冲击载荷作用后发生剪切失效的无量纲判据。分析表明,在初始速度间断面上是否发生剪切失效取决于质量块初始动能和质量块尺寸与梁厚之比,而与梁的长度无关。梁的转动惯量对于剪切失效具有不可忽略的影响。  相似文献
