Complete guiding sets for a class of almost-periodic differential equations

A functional differential equation admitting a complete guiding set always has an a priori bounded solution. The introduction of this concept and the idea of reducibility allow the authors to apply a well-known method for the autonomous case to a non-autonomous problem. A previous result of Ortega and Tineo is extended to a non-hyperbolic semilinear functional differential equation with almost-periodic coefficients in its lineal part. The non-hyperbolicity condition is established in terms of the Sacker-Sell spectrum of the associated linear system.     

Joint value-distribution theorems on Lerch zeta-functions. II

We give corrected statements of some theorems from [5] and [6] on joint value-distribution of Lerch zeta-functions (limit theorems, universality, functional independence). We also present a new direct proof of a joint limit theorem in the space of analytic functions and an extension of a joint universality theorem. On Duality for a Class of Quasiconcave Multiplicative Programs

Multiplicative programs are a difficult class of nonconvex programs that have received increasing attention because of their many applications. However, given their nonconvex nature, few theoretical results are available. In this paper, we study a particular case of these programs which involves the maximization of a quasiconcave function over a linear constraint set. Using results from conjugate function theory and generalized geometric programming, we derive a complete duality theory. The results are further specialized to linear multiplicative programming.     

Existence and uniqueness of v-asymptotic expansions and Colombeau's generalized numbers

We define a type of generalized asymptotic series called v-asymptotic. We show that every function with moderate growth at infinity has a v-asymptotic expansion. We also describe the set of v-asymptotic series, where a given function with moderate growth has a unique v-asymptotic expansion. As an application to random matrix theory we calculate the coefficients and establish the uniqueness of the v-asymptotic expansion of an integral with a large parameter. As another application (with significance in the non-linear theory of generalized functions) we show that every Colombeau's generalized number has a v-asymptotic expansion. A similar result follows for Colombeau's generalized functions, in particular, for all Schwartz distributions.     

p-adic Arakelov theory

We introduce the p-adic analogue of Arakelov intersection theory on arithmetic surfaces. The intersection pairing in an extension of the p-adic height pairing for divisors of degree 0 in the form described by Coleman and Gross. It also uses Coleman integration and is related to work of Colmez on p-adic Green functions. We introduce the p-adic version of a metrized line bundle and define the metric on the determinant of its cohomology in the style of Faltings. We also prove analogues of the Adjunction formula and the Riemann-Roch formula.     

Some subclasses of multivalent functions involving a certain linear operator

The authors investigate various inclusion and other properties of several subclasses of the class Ap of normalized p-valent analytic functions in the open unit disk, which are defined here by means of a certain linear operator. Problems involving generalized neighborhoods of analytic functions in the class Ap are investigated. Finally, some applications of fractional calculus operators are considered.

Electron localization functions and local measures of the covariance

The electron localization measure proposed by Becke and Edgecombe is shown to be related to the covariance of the electron pair distribution. Just as with the electron localization function, the local covariance does not seem to be, in and of itself, a useful quantity for elucidating shell structure. A function of the local covariance, however, is useful for this purpose. A different function, based on the hyperbolic tangent, is proposed to elucidate the shell structure encapsulated by the local covariance; this function also seems to work better for the electron localization measure of Becke and Edgecombe. In addition, we propose a different measure for the electron localization that incorporates both the electron localization measure of Becke and Edgecombe and the Laplacian of the electron density; preliminary indications are that this measure is especially good at elucidating the shell structure in valence regions. Methods for evaluating electron localization functions directly from the electron density, without recourse to the Kohn-Sham orbitals, are discussed.
