A model for the reflectivity spectra of TmTe

A simple one dimensional diatomic chain model is proposed to explain the reflectivity spectra of TmTe as observed by Wardet al. It is suggested that the system undergoes a structural phase transition of order-disorder type at 4.2 K, where the new phase assumes an anti-ferroelectric type of arrangement of the atoms. The results, we obtained, agree well qualitatively with the experimental results.     

Lattice vibronics of bcc phase metals (Ti,Zr and Hf) at higher temperatures

Ashcroft’s analytic bare ion pseudopotential form factor with a modified Hartree dielectric function has been employed to represent the temperature dependent interionic potential. This potential includes both direct ion-ion interaction and indirect ion-electron-ion interaction with and without the effects of ‘d’ bands, in some scantily studied complexbcc metals vizbcc Ti, Zr and Hf. The ab initio radial and tangential force constants extending out to 15th nearest neighbours are computed for the metals. The said potential is used for predicting the binding energy, elastic constants and phonon dispersion of the above mentioned metals and the results are satisfactorily compared with the corresponding measured data.     

The Lattice of Completions of an Ordered Set

For any ordered set P, the join dense completions of P form a complete lattice K(P) with least element O(P), the lattice of order ideals of P, and greatest element M(P), the Dedekind–MacNeille completion P. The lattice K(P) is isomorphic to an ideal of the lattice of all closure operators on the lattice O(P). Thus it inherits some local structural properties which hold in the lattice of closure operators on any complete lattice. In particular, if K(P) is finite, then it is an upper semimodular lattice and an upper bounded homomorphic image of a free lattice, and hence meet semidistributive.     

Symbolic computing the exact distributions of L-statistics from a uniform distribution

The exact probability density function of linear combinations of k=k(n) order statistics selected from the whole order statistics (L-statistic) based on a random sample of size n from the uniform distribution on [0, 1] was derived by Matsunawa (1985, Ann. Inst. Statist. Math., 37, 1–16). As the main expression for the density function given by Matsunawa is not complete for the general situation, we first provide the corrections for this formula. Second, we propose a simple scheme involving symbolic computing for evaluating the corrected version of the density function. The cumulative distribution function and the r-th mean of his L-statistic are also derived.     

On the semilattice of weak orders of a set

Order theoretic and combinatorial properties of the semilattice of weak orders on a set are developed. In the case of a finite set, an order theoretic characterization of this semilattice is obtained.     

On the order of singular optimal control problems

In singular optimal control problems, the functional form of the optimal control function is usually determined by solving the algebraic equation which results by successively differentiating the switching function until the control appears explicitly. This process defines the order of the singular problem. Order-related results are developed for singular linear-quadratic problems and for a bilinear example which gives new insights into the relationship between singular problem order and singular are order.Dedicated to R. Concerning Order of Convergence for Subdivision

We discuss order of convergence for subdivision algorithms, in the scalar-valued and the vector-valued case. In order to find the generic order, the usual definition of convergence order is extended, refering to a proper quasi interpolant operator whose representation on polynomial spaces can be constructively determined with recourse to properties of the subdivision mask. Assuming stability and smoothness of the limit functions, the approximation order of the quasi interpolant operator determines the order of convergence of subdivision.     

扰动Chebyshev结点上的Hermite－Fejer插值

本文发现当Ｃｈｅｂｙｓｈｅｖ结点产生某些扰动时，只要扰动量不超过，则基于扰动后的Ｃｈｅｂｙｓｈｅｖ结点的Ｈｅｒｍｉｔｅ－Ｆｅｊｅｒ插值过程仍然保持对［－１，１］上任意连续函数的一致收敛性，此外，文中还给出了这种收敛性的收敛速度估计。
