Groups with Polycyclic Non-Normal Subgroups

The structure of groups in which many subgroups have a certain property X has been investigated for several choices of the property X. Groups whose non-normal subgroups satisfy certain finite rank conditions are studied in this article. On Unimodular Rows over Polynomial Rings

Let A be a commutative ring and n 3 a positive integer. In this paper, we consider unimodular rows (f₁(x),..., f_n(x)) over A[x]. We prove that, if the row of the leading coefficients of f_i(x) is unimodular over A and a A, then there exists E_n(A[x]) such that (f₁(x),...,f_n(x)) = (f₁(a),...,f_n(a)). Also, if A is a Noetherian ring with finite Krull dimension and the row of leading coefficients satisfies the same condition, then we give a bound for the length of in terms of elementary transvections.Partially supported by INTAS 93–436EXT and DFG–RFBR grant No. 96–01–00092G.2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 19A13, 19B14, 13C10, 13B25, 13F20     

激光主动探测中回波信号的小波去噪方法

在分析激光主动探测中回波信号的噪声特性和小波变换去噪原理的基础上，提出了一种基于最大信噪比准则的小渡阈值去噪方法。首先用最大信噪比准则对小波变换系数进行阈值选取，然后采用软阂值方法对小波系数进行量化处理后再重构。仿真结果表明最大信噪比准则小波去噪方法改善信噪比效果十分显著，检测下限达到-16．2dB。证明了该方法在激光主动探测系统回波信号检测中的有效性。     

Abelian Subgroups of Garside Groups

In this article, we show that for every abelian subgroup H of a Garside group, some conjugate g ^?1 Hg consists of ultra summit elements and the centralizer of H is a finite index subgroup of the normalizer of H. Combining with the results on translation numbers in Garside groups, we obtain an easy proof of the algebraic flat torus theorem for Garside groups and solve several algorithmic problems concerning abelian subgroups of Garside groups.     

A counterexample theorem in quasiconformal mapping theory

Given a quasisymmetric homeomorphismh of the unit circle onto itself, denote byK _n ^* ,H _h andK _h the extremal maximal dilatation, boundary dilatation and maximal dilatation ofh, respectively. It is proved that there exists a family of quasisymmetric homeomorphismsh such thatK _h <H _h =K _h ^* This gives a negative answer to a problem asked independently by Wu and Yang. Furthermore, some related topics are also discussed.     

The ranks of primitive parabolic permutation representations of the simple groups B l (q), C l (q), and D l (q)

We determine the ranks of the permutation representations of the simple groups B _l (q), C _l (q), and D _l (q) on the cosets of the parabolic maximal subgroups.     

On measure‐valued solutions to a two‐dimensional gravity‐driven avalanche flow model

This paper concerns measure‐valued solutions for the two‐dimensional granular avalanche flow model introduced by Savage and Hutter. The system is similar to the isentropic compressible Euler equations, except for a Coulomb–Mohr friction law in the source term. We will partially follow the study of measure‐valued solutions given by DiPerna and Majda. However, due to the multi‐valued nature of the friction law, new more sensitive measures must be introduced. The main idea is to consider the class of x‐dependent maximal monotone graphs of non‐single‐valued operators and their relation with 1‐Lipschitz, Carathéodory functions. This relation allows to introduce generalized Young measures for x‐dependent maximal monotone graph. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

Estimation of the order of a group generated by a twisted subset

We prove that a group generated by a twisted subset is finite and its order is bounded by some function depending only on the order of the twisted subset.     

Finite groups acting 2-transitively on their sylow subgroups

In this paper we have completely determined: (1) all almost simple groups which act 2-transitively on one of their sets of Sylow p-subgroups. (2) all non-abelian simple groups T whose automorphism group acts 2-transitively on one of the sets of Sylow p-subgroups of T. (3) all finite groups which are 2-transitive on all their sets of Sylow subgroups. 设$\varphi$为群${\rm Aut}(N)$的同态,记$H_\varphi\times N$为群$N$借助于群$H$的半直积.设$G$为有限不可解群,本文证明: 若$G$中最高阶元素个数为40, 则$G$同构于下列群之一:(1)~$Z_{4\varphi}\times A_5$,\,${\rm ker}\varphi=Z_2$; (2)~$D_{8\varphi}\times A_5,\,{\rm ker}\varphi=Z_2\times Z_2$; (3)~$G/N=S_5$, $N=Z(G)=Z_2$; (4)~$G/N=S_5$, $N=Z_2\times Z_2,\,N\cap Z(G)=Z_2$.
