On the univalence of derivatives of functions which are univalent in angular domains

We consider functions f that are univalent in a plane angular domain of angle απ, 0 < α ≤ 2. It is proved that there exists a natural number k depending only on α such that the kth derivatives f ^(k) of these functions cannot be univalent in this angle. We find the least of the possible values of for k. As a consequence, we obtain an answer to the question posed by Kir’yatskii: if f is univalent in the half-plane, then its fourth derivative cannot be univalent in this half-plane.

We obtain a non-Kähler almost Hermitian manifold of constant holomorphic sectional curvature by changing the almost complex structure in a Kähler manifold of constant holomorphic sectional curvature.

     

The PDE-preserving operators on nuclearly entire functions of bounded type

The PDE-preserving operators O on the space of nuclearly entire functions of bounded type H_Nb(E) on a Banach space E are characterized. An operator is PDE-preserving when it preserves homogenous solutions to homogeneous convolution equations. We establish a one to one correspondence between O and a set Σ of sequences of entire functionals, i.e. exponential type functions. In this way, algebraic structures on Σ, such as ring structures, can be carried over to O and vice versa. In particular, it follows that O is a non-commutative ring (algebra) with unity with respect to composition and the convolution operators form a commutative subring (subalgebra). We discuss range and kernel properties, for the operators in O, and characterize the projectors (onto polynomial spaces) in O by determining the corresponding elements in Σ. Holomorphic Maps of Compact Generalized Hopf Manifolds

We investigate holomorphic maps between compact generalized Hopf manifolds (i.e., locally conformal Kähler manifolds with parallel Lee form). We show that they preserve the canonical foliations. Moreover, we study compact complex submanifolds of g.H. manifolds and holomorphic submersions from compact g.H. manifolds.     

COSMIC(90): An improved molecular mechanics treatment of hydrocarbons and conjugated systems

Summary Four modifications to the COSMIC molecular mechanics force field are described, which greatly increase both its versatility and the accuracy of calculated conformational energies. The Hill non-bonded van der Waals potential function has been replaced by a two-parameter Morse curve and a new H-H potential, similar to that in MM3, incorporated. Hydrocarbon energies in particular are much improved.A simple iterative Hückel pi-electron molecular orbital calculation allows modelling of conjugated systems. Calculated bond lengths and rotational barriers for a series of conjugated hydrocarbons and nitrogen heterocycles are shown to be as accurate as those determined by the MM2 SCF method.Explicit hydrogen-bonding potentials for H-bond acceptor-donor atom pairs have been included to give better hydrogen bond energies and lengths. The van der Waals radii of protonic hydrogens are reduced to 0.5 Å and the energy well depth is increased to 1.0 kcal mol^-1.Two new general atom types, N⁺ _sp ² and O^- _sp ³ , have been introduced which allow a wide variety of charged conjugated systems to be studied. A minimum of parameterisation is required, as the new types are easily included in the Hückel scheme which automatically adjusts bond and torsional parameters according to the defined bond-order relationships.     

The Two-Point Codes with the Designed Distance on a Hermitian Curve in Even Characteristic

In Homma M and Kim SJ [2], the authors considered two-point codes on a Hermitian curve defined over fields of odd characteristic. In this paper, we study the geometry of a Hermitian curve over fields of even characteristic and classify the two-point codes whose minimum distances agree with the designed ones.
