The conformational properties and elastic behaviors of protein-like single chains in the process of tensile elongation were investigated by means of Monte Carlo method. The sequences of protein-like single chains contain two types of residues: hydrophobic (H) and hydrophilic (P). The average conformations and thermodynamics statistical properties of protein-like single chains with various elongation ratio λ were calculated. It was found that the mean-square end-to-end distance r increases with elongation ratio,λ. The tensor eigenvalues ratio of : decreases with elongation ratio λ for short (HP)x protein-like polymers, however, the ratio of : increases with elongation ratioλ,especially for long (H)x sequence. Average energy per bond increases with elongation ratioλ, especially for(H)x protein-like single chains. Helmholtz free energy per bond also increases with elongation ratioλ. Elastic force (f), energy contribution to force (fU) and entropy contribution to force (fs) for different protein-like single chains were also calculated.These investigations may provide some insights into elastic behaviors of proteins.  相似文献

With the introduction of the concept of the iso‐spectrum‐level series, a linear relationship is found between the first differences of the ionization potential of excited states and nuclear charge Z along an iso‐spectrum‐level series, and the ionization potential of excited states of Be‐like sequence are studied systematically on the basis of the weakest bound electron potential model theory. The expression of nonrelativistic ionization potential is derived from the weakest bound electron potential model theory, and relativistic effects are included by using a fourth‐order polynomial in Z. As a demonstration, the ionization potentials of [He]2s2p 3P, [He]2s3s 1S0, [He]2s3p 1P, [He]2s3d 1D2, and [He]2s4d 1D2 series for a range of Be‐like sequence from Z = 4–23 are calculated. Dipole‐allowed transitions have been studied for the first few members of the Si isoelectronic sequence. Transition energies, oscillator strengths, transition probabilities and quantum defect values have been estimated for the low‐ and high‐lying excited states of s and d symmetries up to the principal quantum number n=7 for these 3p open shell ions from P+ to Cr10+. Time‐dependent coupled Hartree–Fock (TDCHF) theory has been utilized to calculate such transition properties. Most of the results for transition energies, oscillator strengths, and transition probabilities for higher excited states are new. A homologous series of first-to third-generation dendritic polyamides 2a, 3, and 5 with tris(aminoethyl) amine (TREA) as the core and the protected amino functional groups at the periphery were synthesized via active ester route from “Schlüter” type dendron 1a. Their structures were characterized by 1H-NMR and mass spectra. Based on the efficient synthesis of the first generation dendrimer 2a (yield 75%), the synthesis of second-generation dendrimer 3 was found to be more efficient via the convergent method (yield 69%), while the mixed strategy was applied efficiently for the synthesis of the higher generation dendrimer 5 (yield 37%). We give a necessary and sufficient condition for the uniformly non-l n (1) property of Musielak-Orlicz sequence spacesl Φ generated by a sequence Φ=(ϕn:n⩾l) of finite Orlicz functions such that for eachn∈ℕ. As a result, forn 0⩾2, there exist spacesl Φ which are only uniformly non-l n (1) fornn 0. Moreover we obtain a characterization of uniformly non-l n (1) and reflexive Orlicz sequence spaces over a wide class of purely atomic measures and of uniformly non-l n (1) Nakano sequence spaces. Structural studies of the high molecular mass (HMM) glutenin subunits 1Bx7 (from cvs Hereward and Galatea) and 1Bx20 (from cv. Bidi17) of bread wheat were conducted using matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOFMS) and reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography/electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (RP-HPLC/ESI-MS). For all three proteins, MALDI-TOFMS analysis showed that the isolated fractions contained a second component with a mass about 650 Da lower than the major component. The testing and correction of the gene-derived amino acid sequences of the three proteins were performed by direct MALDI-TOFMS analysis of their tryptic peptide mixture. Analysis of the digest was performed by recording several MALDI mass spectra of the mixture at low, medium and high mass ranges, optimizing the matrix and the acquisition parameters for each mass range. Complementary data were obtained by RP-HPLC/ESI-MS analysis of the tryptic digest. This resulted in coverage of about 98% of the sequences. In contrast to the gene-derived data, the results obtained demonstrate the insertion of the sequence QPGQGQ between Trp716 and Gln717 of subunit 1Bx7 (cv. Galatea) and a possible single amino acid substitution within the T20 peptide of subunit 1Bx20. Moreover, the mass spectrometric data demonstrated that the lower mass components present in all the fractions correspond to the major components but lack about six amino acid residues, which are probably lost from the protein C-terminus. Finally, the results obtained provide evidence for the lack of glycosylation or other post-translational modifications of these subunits.  相似文献

Ladder-shaped polyether natural products show diverse biological activities with extreme potency. As the initial phase of detailed SAR studies of bioactive polyethers, we set out to construct structurally simple mimics. This paper details the divergent synthesis of 6-X-7-6 tetracycles (X=7, 8, or 9) starting from a simple 6-membered ether. Key reactions in the synthesis include (i) the direct formation of an O,S-acetal by the coupling of an alcohol with an α-chlorosulfide, (ii) the construction of a 7-membered ring by radical cyclization, and (iii) cyclization to the 7, 8 or 9-membered ring via a ring-closing metathesis reaction. The neutral reaction conditions of our strategy enable the synthesis of a wide variety of substrates. The results of this study can be applied for the rapid construction of artificial polyether compounds with diversified molecular shapes and sizes.  相似文献

We study the ground state properties of a one-dimensional Ising chain with a nearest-neighbor ferromagnetic interactionJ 1, and akth neighboranti-ferromagnetic interactionJ k . WhenJ k/J1=–1/k, there exists a highly degenerate ground state with a residual entropy per spin. For the finite chain with free boundary conditions, we calculate the degeneracy of this state exactly, and find that it is proportional to the (N+k–1)th term in a generalized Fibonacci sequence defined by,F N (k) =F N–1 (k) +F N–k (k) . In addition, we show that this one-dimensional model is closely related to the following problems: (a) a fully frustrated two-dimensional Ising system with a periodic arrangement of nearest-neighbor ferro- and antiferromagnetic bonds, (b) close-packing of dimers on a ladder, a 2× strip of the square lattice, and (c) directed self-avoiding walks on finite lattice strips.Work partially supported by grants from AFOSR and ARO.  相似文献
