We investigate the influence of slip boundary conditions on the onset of Bénard convection in an infinite fluid layer. It is shown that the critical Rayleigh number is a decreasing function of the slip length, and therefore boundary slip is seen to have a destabilizing effect. There is an intensive effort underway to develop new corrosion control coatings for structural metals. In part, this effort
has been motivated by the desire to replace chromium(VI)-containing coatings currently used for corrosion control of iron
and aluminum alloys. Cr(VI) has been shown to be hazardous to the environmental and to human health, and its use in many countries
will be sharply curtailed in the coming years. Electroactive conducting polymers (ECPs) represent a class of interesting materials
currently being explored for use in corrosion control coating systems, possibly as a replacement for Cr(VI)-based coatings.
The electroactivity and the electronic conductivity (or semiconductivity) of ECPs set them apart from traditional organic
coatings. As with chromate, interesting and potentially beneficial interactions of ECPs with active metal alloys such as steel
and aluminum are anticipated, with concomitant alteration of their corrosion behavior. A review of this active research area
will be presented in two parts. Here in Part 1, a general introduction to the topic of corrosion control by ECPs will be presented,
including an overview of corrosion and its control by traditional methods, an introduction to ECPs and their properties, and
a discussion of the processing issues surrounding the use of ECPs as coatings. Part 1 also includes a review of the literature
on the use of ECPs as coatings (or components of coatings) on non-ferrous active metals, principally aluminum and aluminum
alloys, although some work on zinc, copper, silver, titanium and silicon will also be described. In Part 2 of this review
(to be published in the next issue of this journal), the rather extensive literature on the use of ECPs for the corrosion
control of ferrous alloys (steels) will be reviewed.

The authors achieved the temporal coherent control in an Er^3+ doped telluride glass, one kind of disordered solids. The upconversion at 670 nm was modulated and the dephasing time was simulated as 300 fs. Moreover, the photon echo signal gave the dephasing time due to the phonon interaction. The agreement between the two data indicates that the interaction between the wavepacket and the phonon leads to the fast disappearance of wavepackets interference, which is helpful for the tech- nique to be applied to the disordered solids. 相似文献

Time‐dependent differential equations can be solved using the concept of method of lines (MOL) together with the boundary element (BE) representation for the spatial linear part of the equation. The BE method alleviates the need for spatial discretization and casts the problem in an integral format. Hence errors associated with the numerical approximation of the spatial derivatives are totally eliminated. An element level local cubic approximation is used for the variable at each time step to facilitate the time marching and the nonlinear terms are represented in a semi‐implicit manner by a local linearization at each time step. The structural properties of polycrystalline silicon films, prepared by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition system, with different flow rates of SiH4/SiF4 mixtures at 300 °C were investigated. This study indicates that the low hydrogen coverage on the growing surface, under optimum fluorine radicals, will be leaded to an improvement of crystallized area as compared with case of high hydrogen coverage surface. Moreover, the studies of the role of SiH4 and SiF4 radicals show that the SiH4 radicals are important in the nucleation and growth of grains. However, SiF4 radicals are effective in the structural change of grain boundaries regions and by this way, in the present system, establish the growth of grains under the dominant 〈1 1 0〉 direction. The stress investigation indicates that addition of high flow rate of SiF4 in amorphous film, results in the nearly stress free films. Finally, we found that the changes in g-value reflect the changes in the intrinsic compressive and tensile stress in the both polycrystalline and amorphous silicon films. 相似文献

Plane ideal incompressible flow in a rectangular channel partitioned by a thin permeable barrier (lattice) is considered. In flowing through the lattice the stream suddenly (jumpwise) changes direction and loses energy. The flow is assumed to be vortical; the vorticity is discontinuous on the lattice. A mathematical formulation of the problem for the stream function is proposed in the form of a nonlinear elliptic equation with coefficients discontinuous on the lattice line. A numerical solution is constructed using the finite-element iteration method. The results of the numerical simulation show how the flow velocity profile in the channel can be controlled by means of permeable barriers. 相似文献

We consider a resource management problem in which the management objective is to minimize fluctuations in resource stocks. Stabilizing management policies constitute the designing of memoryless state feedback control strategies for a discrete time resource model which contains unknown but bounded fluctuations.
