The three bilinearities for functions are sharply estimated in function spaces associated to the Schrödinger operator . These bilinear estimates imply local wellposedness results for Schrödinger equations with quadratic nonlinearity. Improved bounds on the growth of spatial Sobolev norms of finite energy global-in-time and blow-up solutions of the cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation (and certain generalizations) are also obtained.

This paper deals with quasilinear elliptic differential inclusions defined in all of N and governed in general by a nonpotential quasilinear elliptic operator of the Leray–Lions type and a multivalued term in form of a (nonmonotone) state-dependent subdifferential. We prove the existence of entire extremal solutions within a sector of an ordered pair of appropriately defined upper and lower solutions without imposing any condition at infinity. Therefore, standard variational methods cannot be applied here. Furthermore, due to the unboundedness of the domain and due to lack of monotonicity of the operators involved, no comparison results are available such that the problem under consideration becomes even more difficult.  相似文献

Two explicit error representation formulas are derived for degenerate parabolic PDEs, which are based on evaluating a parabolic residual in negative norms. The resulting upper bounds are valid for any numerical method, and rely on regularity properties of solutions of a dual parabolic problem in nondivergence form with vanishing diffusion coefficient. They are applied to a practical space-time discretization consisting of piecewise linear finite elements over highly graded unstructured meshes, and backward finite differences with varying time-steps. Two rigorous a posteriori error estimates are derived for this scheme, and used in designing an efficient adaptive algorithm, which equidistributes space and time discretization errors via refinement/coarsening. A simulation finally compares the behavior of the rigorous a posteriori error estimators with a heuristic approach, and hints at the potentials and reliability of the proposed method.

We discuss the asymptotic wave function of a quantum system in ?3 composed by heavy and light particles, in the case where the light particles are in scattering states and no interaction is assumed among particles of the same kind. We first review a recent result concerning the case of K heavy and N light particles, where the one-particle potential acting on each heavy particle decays at infinity. Then we consider the case of one light particle interacting with a system of harmonic oscillators and prove the same kind of result following, with some modification, the proof of the previous case. A possible application to the analysis of the scattering of a light particle from condensed matter is also outlined.  相似文献

We deal with fixed-time and Strichartz estimates for the Schrödinger propagator as an operator on Wiener amalgam spaces. We discuss the sharpness of the known estimates and we provide some new estimates which generalize the classical ones. Spatial discretization of transport and transformation processes in porous media requires techniques that handle general geometry, discontinuous coefficients and are locally mass conservative. Multi‐point flux approximation (MPFA) methods are such techniques, and we will here discuss some formulations on triangular grids with further application to the nonlinear Richards equation. The MPFA methods will be rewritten to mixed form to derive stability conditions and error estimates. Several MPFA versions will be shown, and the versions will be discussed with respect to convergence, symmetry and robustness when the grids are rough. It will be shown that the behavior may be quite different for challenging cases of skewness and roughness of the simulation grids. Further, we apply the MPFA discretization approach for the Richards equation and derive new error estimates without extra regularity requirements. The analysis will be accompanied by numerical results for grids that are relevant for practical simulation. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
