Abstract

Let X be a topological space and let C(X) be the ring of continuous real-valued functions on X. We study T′(X) as an over-ring of C(X), where T′(X) denotes the set of all real-valued functions on X such that for each fT′(X) there exists a dense open subspace D of X such that f|DC(D). In this paper new algebraic characterizations of discrete spaces, open-hereditarily irresolvable spaces, and Blumberg spaces are obtained.  相似文献

Let R be a noncommutative prime ring, U be the left Utumi quotient ring of R, and k, m, n, r be fixed positive integers. In this article, we examine commutativity of ideal extensions. We introduce methods of constructing such extensions. In particular, we construct a noncommutative ring T which contains a central and idempotent ideal I such that T/I is a field. This answers a question from [1 Andruszkiewicz, R. R., Puczy?owski, E. R. The left quotient ring (i.e., the left classical ring of fractions) Qcl(R) of a ring R does not always exist and still, in general, there is no good understanding of the reason why this happens. In this article, existence of the largest left quotient ring Ql(R) of an arbitrary ring R is proved, i.e., Ql(R) = S0(R)?1R where S0(R) is the largest left regular denominator set of R. It is proved that Ql(Ql(R)) = Ql(R); the ring Ql(R) is semisimple iff Qcl(R) exists and is semisimple; moreover, if the ring Ql(R) is left Artinian, then Qcl(R) exists and Ql(R) = Qcl(R). The group of units Ql(R)* of Ql(R) is equal to the set {s?1t | s, t ∈ S0(R)} and S0(R) = RQl(R)*. If there exists a finitely generated flat left R-module which is not projective, then Ql(R) is not a semisimple ring. We extend slightly Ore's method of localization to localizable left Ore sets, give a criterion of when a left Ore set is localizable, and prove that all left and right Ore sets of an arbitrary ring are localizable (not just denominator sets as in Ore's method of localization). Applications are given for certain classes of rings (semiprime Goldie rings, Noetherian commutative rings, the algebra of polynomial integro-differential operators).  相似文献

We introduce the concept of an object with the (finite) exchange property in an arbitrary Grothendieck category, and we present the basic properties of such an object. Applications are given for categories of graded modules and for categories of comodules over a coalgebra. Among other results, it is proved that an arbitrary coalgebra 𝒞 over a field has the finite exchange property.  相似文献

The content of a polynomial f over a commutative ring R is the ideal c(f) of R generated by the coefficients of f. A commutative ring R is said to be Gaussian if c(fg) = c(f)c(g) for every polynomials f and g in R[X]. A number of authors have formulated necessary and sufficient conditions for R(X) (respectively, R?X?) to be semihereditary, have weak global dimension at most one, be arithmetical, or be Prüfer. An open question raised by Glaz is to formulate necessary and sufficient conditions that R(X) (respectively, R?X?) have the Gaussian property. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for the rings R(X) and R?X? in terms of the ring R in case the square of the nilradical of R is zero.  相似文献

A finite group G is called a Schur group, if any Schur ring over G is associated in a natural way with a subgroup of Sym(G) that contains all right translations. Recently, the authors have completely identified the cyclic Schur groups. In this article, it is shown that any abelian Schur group belongs to one of several explicitly given families only. In particular, any noncyclic abelian Schur group of odd order is isomorphic to ?3 × ?3 k or ?3 × ?3 × ? p where k ≥ 1 and p is a prime. In addition, we prove that ?2 × ?2 × ? p is a Schur group for every prime p.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In this article we study the behavior of left QI-rings under perfect localizations. We show that a perfect localization of a left QI-ring is a left QI-ring. We prove that Boyle’s conjecture is true for left QI-rings with finite Gabriel dimension such that every hereditary torsion theory in the Gabriel filtration is perfect. As corollary, we get that Boyle’s conjecture is true for left QI-rings which satisfy the restricted left socle condition, a result proved by Faith in [6 Faith, C. (1976).
