On the Newton polygons of twisted L-functions of binomials

Let χ be an order c multiplicative character of a finite field and $f(x)=x^d+\lambda x^e$ a binomial with $(d,e)=1$. We study the twisted classical and T-adic Newton polygons of f. When $p>(d-e)(2d-1)$, we give a lower bound of Newton polygons and show that they coincide if p does not divide a certain integral constant depending on $p\mathrm{mod}cd$.We conjecture that this condition holds if p is large enough with respect to $c,d$ by combining all known results and the conjecture given by Zhang-Niu. As an example, we show that it holds for $e=d-1$.     

桉树杂交种与其亲本的近红外光谱判别

研究桉树控制授粉后目标性状的基因作用方式是探索其基因重组规律的重要内容。常规的数量统计分析精度往往不高,而DNA分析的专业要求高,且费时费力。该研究利用近红外光谱(NIRs)研究不同基因型桉树杂交种、亲本及杂交种与亲本间近红外光谱信息的关系,探索NIRs用于桉树杂交种与其亲本判别的可行性和准确性。以控制授粉的桉树亲本及其杂交F1代材料为对象,每种基因型从各自田间试验分别选取10个单株,采集树冠中上部新鲜健康叶片。用手持式近红外仪Phazir Rx(1624)采集桉树杂交种与其亲本叶片的NIRs信息。每单株选10片完全生理成熟的健康叶片,避开叶脉扫描其正面光谱5次,以50条NIRs信息的均值代表单个叶片的NIRs信息,最终每个基因型获得10条NIRs信息。对原始NIRs采用二阶多项式S.G一阶导数预处理。预处理后的NIRs用于多元统计分析,首先对桉树杂交亲本和子代样本进行主成分分析(PCA),直观展示不同基因型的分类情况。然后运用簇类独立软模式(SIMCA)和偏最小二乘判别分析(PLS-DA)两种有监督的判别模式验证NIRs用于桉树杂交种与其亲本树种的分类判别效果。PCA结果显示,不同的亲本间、杂交种间及杂交种与亲本间样本的主因子得分可以清晰地将各基因型分开。SIMCA模式判别分析中,桉树杂交种样本到亲本PCA模型的样本距离显示,待判别样本能够形成单独的聚类,且能直观反映两者的遗传相似。PLS-DA判别结果显示,桉树杂交亲本的PLS模型能通过预测其杂交子代的响应变量将其与亲本准确分开。结果表明,桉树叶片的NIRs信息可以准确地反映桉树杂交子代遗传信息的传递规律,NIRs判别模型可以准确地将各种基因型予以区分。因此,NIRs信息不仅可用于桉树杂交种和纯种的定性判别,还可以分析桉树基因重组过程中加性遗传效应的大小,从而为桉树遗传基础分析及其育种改良研究提供理论支撑。     

Uniform bounds under increment conditions

We apply a majorizing measure theorem of Talagrand to obtain uniform bounds for sums of random variables satisfying increment conditions of the type considered in Gál-Koksma Theorems. We give some applications.

Resolution of Some Open Problems Concerning Multiple Zeta Evaluations of Arbitrary Depth

We prove some new evaluations for multiple polylogarithms of arbitrary depth. The simplest of our results is a multiple zeta evaluation one order of complexity beyond the well-known Broadhurst–Zagier formula. Other results we provide settle three of the remaining outstanding conjectures of Borwein, Bradley, and Broadhurst. A complete treatment of a certain arbitrary depth class of periodic alternating unit Euler sums is also given.     

Maintenance of Soft Calibration Models in the Determination of Zinc,Cadmium, Lead and Copper by Differential Pulse Anodic Stripping Voltammetry

A strategy for constructing a global multivariate calibration model that includes calibration samples measured over time on different days is developed and applied in electroanalysis. Both synthetic and real samples (tap, extracted and river water) are analyzed by differential‐pulse anodic stripping voltammetry, showing the suitability of the global model constructed that provides successful results similar to those of the usual multivariate calibration. In addition the capability of discrimination of this model is evaluated in prediction for the mean of three replicates with estimation of probability of false noncompliance, α, and false compliance, β, being found 3.1, 11.2, 6.7 and 64.7 nM for nominal concentrations of zinc, cadmium, lead and copper of 96.0, 40.4, 37.3 and 328.0 nM respectively when α=β=0.05. It has been proven that the use of the global calibration does not imply a loss of multivariate analytical sensitivity, using this parameter as quality index of the analytical procedure. The viability of using calibration maintenance strategies with electroanalytical techniques is shown, providing a way to save time and experimental effort when these techniques are used in routine analysis.     

Prime divisors of sparse integers

We obtain a lower bound on the number of prime divisors of integers whose g-ary expansion contains a fixed number of nonzero digits. This revised version was published online in August 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.     

处理原子-辐射场相互作用系统的变分方法

用Heisenberg-Weyl(简H-W)群直积SU(2)群上的相干态表述了原子-辐射场相互作用系统的非平衡态统计力学.引入一个新定义的含时分布函数,将非平衡态下密度矩阵所满足的von Neumann方程转化成可分离变量的偏微分方程,给出了方程的形式解,算符的平均值表示.本文还就便于作微扰展开的相互作用绘景作了讨论.     

Optical properties of polarization-dependent geometric phase elements with partially polarized light

The behavior of geometric phase elements illuminated with partially polarized monochromatic beams is investigated both theoretically and experimentally. The element discussed in this paper is composed of wave plates with π-retardation and a space-variant orientation angle. We found that a beam emerging from such an element comprises two polarization orders; right-and left-handed circularly polarized states with conjugate geometric phase modification. This phase equals twice the orientation angle of the space-variant wave plate comprising the element. Apart from the two polarization orders, the emerging beam coherence polarization matrix includes a “vectorial interference matrix” which contains information concerning the correlation between the two orthogonal, circularly polarized portions of the incident beam. In this paper we measure this correlation by a simple interference experiment. In addition, we found that the equivalent mutual intensity of the emerging beam is modulated according to the geometric phase induced by the element. Other interesting phenomena concerning propagation will be discussed theoretically and demonstrated experimentally. The experiment made use of a spherical geometric phase element that was realized by use of a space-variant subwavelength grating illuminated with CO₂ laser radiation of 10.6 μm wavelength.
