Intensities and self-broadening coefficients of the CO2 Ro-vibrational transitions measured by a near-IR diode laser spectrometer

Eleven absorption lines belonging to one of the Fermi-tetrad bands of CO₂, (3, 0⁰, 1)_III centered at 6231 cm⁻¹, have been recorded by a newly constructed near-infrared diode laser spectrometer. Precise line parameters, linestrength, and self-broadening parameters were determined from the observed spectra by analyzing the data using the Galatry profile function.     

Clifford algebra and the Lorentz transformation with (p, q) form

In this paper, the concepts of Lorentz inner product with (p, q) form, the Lorentz space and the Lorentz transformation with (p, q) form are given by using Clifford algebra. It is shown that L_m^p,q is the Lorentz transformation with (p, q) form, and the matrix equality relation of Minkowski space with (n − 1, 1) form is given. The examples are given to illustrate the corresponding results.     

Gravity-Mediated Modifications of the Dispersion Relation in Nontrivial Backgrounds

Radiative corrections evaluated in nontrivial backgrounds lead to dispersion relations which effectively break the local Lorentz symmetry even if Lorentz invariance holds at a fundamental level. We report on progress made toward the calculation of radiative corrections which are induced by gravity. These should be relevant when approaching Planck scale. We first present the properties of the self-energy of a scalar particle traveling in a thermal graviton bath. We then discuss the possibility of performing the corresponding calculation in a curved background. We give the connection between two different approaches to the dispersion relation, based on the self-energy and the effective action, and we emphasize the need for the closed-time-path formalism in curved backgrounds.     

Relativistic Anandan quantum phase and the Aharonov–Casher effect under Lorentz symmetry breaking effects in the cosmic string spacetime

From the modified Maxwell theory coupled to gravity, we establish a possible scenario of the violation of the Lorentz symmetry and write an effective metric for the cosmic string spacetime. Then, we investigate the arising of an analogue of the Anandan quantum phase for a relativistic Dirac neutral particle with a permanent magnetic dipole moment in the cosmic string spacetime under Lorentz symmetry breaking effects. Besides, we analyse the influence of the effects of the Lorentz symmetry violation and the topology of the defect on the Aharonov–Casher geometric quantum phase in the nonrelativistic limit.     

Actions of Noncompact Semisimple Groups on Lorentz Manifolds

The above title is the same, but with “semisimple” instead of “simple,” as that of a notice by Nadine Kowalsky. There, she announced many theorems on the subject of actions of simple Lie groups preserving a Lorentz structure. Unfortunately, she published proofs for essentially only half of the announced results before her premature death. Here, using a different, geometric approach, we generalize her results to the semisimple case, and give proofs of all her announced results. Fundamental domains in Lorentzian geometry

We consider a discrete subgroup Γ of the simply connected Lie group of finite level, i.e. the subgroup intersects the centre of in a subgroup of finite index, this index is called the level of the group. The Killing form induces a Lorentzian metric of constant curvature on the Lie group . The discrete subgroup Γ acts on by left translations. We describe the Lorentz space form by constructing a fundamental domain F for Γ. We want F to be a polyhedron with totally geodesic faces. We construct such F for all Γ satisfying the following condition: The image of Γ in PSU(1,1) has a fixed point u in the unit disk of order larger than the index of Γ. The construction depends on the group Γ and on the orbit Γ(u) of the fixed point u.      

Λ(Ψ)-Fluctuation and the Fourier-Walsh series of bounded functions

We consider the questions of convergence of Fourier-Walsh series in Lorentz spaces. Some condition is given on a function ? sufficient for its Fourier-Walsh series to converge in the Lorentz spaces “near” L _∞. We show that this result is sharp.     

The Fourier-Walsh series of the functions absolutely continuous in the generalized restricted sense

We consider the questions of convergence in Lorentz spaces for the Fourier-Walsh series of the functions with Denjoy integrable derivative. We prove that a condition on a function f sufficient for its Fourier-Walsh series to converge in the Lorentz spaces “near” L _∞ cannot be expressed in terms of the growth of the derivative f′.     

Dynamical Chern–Simons modified gravity,Gödel Universe and variable cosmological constant

We study the condition for the consistency of the Gödel metric with the dynamical Chern–Simons modified gravity. It turns out to be that this compatibility can be achieved only if the cosmological constant is variable in the space.
