Simulation of a turbulent premixed open V-shaped flame using contour advection with surgery

Despite its capability of high spatial resolution, simulation of turbulent flows with traditional Lagrangian (front tracking) scheme is often discouraged by numerical instability caused by clustering of marker nodes and topological changes of fronts. Contour advection surgery (CAS), being a robust front tracking scheme, can limit the growth of front complexity during simulation without jeopardizing accuracy or efficiency. This allows it to open up an advantage over traditional front-tracking schemes. It has already been demonstrated that CAS, with incorporation of the reaction sheet model, can accurately simulate the propagation and advection of a turbulent premixed V-shaped flame. In this study, it is further tested with 10 values of vortex circulation. A range of upstream turbulence levels of 1.8–19.8% was obtained. Results indicate that upstream turbulence increase the average flame length, flame zone area and the overall burning rate. Flame surface density Σ was also estimated. Maximum values of Σ obtained lie in the range 0.1–1.4 mm⁻¹. Skewness towards the burnt region was observed in all profiles of Σ. Similar to results from laboratory experiments, it was found that Σ values decreases with upstream turbulence. From this study, the ability of CAS to cope with intense turbulence is demonstrated and a better quantitative understanding on the scheme has also been acquired.     

中间层Re的加入对覆膜钡钨阴极性能的改善

研究了一种新型的覆膜钡钨阴极——双层膜(Os-W/Re膜)钡钨阴极.对这种新型阴极的发射性能进行了测试，重点对其老炼前后表面薄膜的微观形貌进行了分析，表明中间层Re膜的加入使覆膜钡钨阴极的性能得到了改善.通过对Os-W双元合金膜钡钨阴极和Os-W/Re双层膜钡钨阴极发射特性的比较，发现Os-W/Re双层膜阴极的直流发射性能好于Os-W合金膜阴极.对两种阴极激活后发射表面的X射线光电子能谱分析表明，Os-W/Re双层膜阴极激活后表面形成的三元合金膜是其发射特性优于Os-W合金膜阴极的主要原因.应用扫描电子显微镜分析比较两种阴极激活老炼后的表面状态，结果表明：Os-W合金膜阴极在老炼一段时间后，其表面薄膜出现开裂，这会导致阴极发射均匀性下降；而Os-W/Re双层膜阴极在同样老炼条件下，发射表面薄膜均匀并保持完整，从而确保覆膜钡钨阴极发射均匀性和工作可靠性. 关键词： 双层膜钡钨阴极 Os-W/Re膜 Os-W膜 薄膜开裂     

INERTIAL MANIFOLDS FOR NONAUTONOMOUS SEMILINEAR PARABOLIC PARTIAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS WITH TIME DELAYS

The present paper deals with the long-time behavior of a class of nonautonomous retarded semilinear parabolic differential equations. When the time delays are small enough and the spectral gap conditions hold, the inertial manifolds of the nonautonomous retard parabolic equations are constructed by using the Lyapunov-Perron method.

Cooperative games of choosing partners and forming coalitions in the marketplace

Two games of interacting between a coalition of players in a marketplace and the residual players acting there are discussed, along with two approaches to fair imputation of gains of coalitions in cooperative games that are based on the concepts of the Shapley vector and core of a cooperative game. In the first game, which is an antagonistic one, the residual players try to minimize the coalition's gain, whereas in the second game, which is a noncooperative one, they try to maximize their own gain as a coalition. A meaningful interpretation of possible relations between gains and Nash equilibrium strategies in both games considered as those played between a coalition of firms and its surrounding in a particular marketplace in the framework of two classes of n-person games is presented. A particular class of games of choosing partners and forming coalitions in which models of firms operating in the marketplace are those with linear constraints and utility functions being sums of linear and bilinear functions of two corresponding vector arguments is analyzed, and a set of maximin problems on polyhedral sets of connected strategies which the problem of choosing a coalition for a particular firm is reducible to are formulated based on the firm models of the considered kind.

Spectroscopy of the regenerative soot

The mechanisms and processes of the formation of the regenerative soot in a graphite hollow cathode discharge that produces and emits carbon clusters are presented. Mass spectrometry with a specially designed E×B velocity filter analyzes the entire range of the charged clusters from C ₁ to ∼C ₄₃₀₀. The state of the carbon vapour within the source is evaluated by using the characteristic line emissions from the carbonaceous discharge whose formative mechanisms depend upon the kinetic and potential sputtering of the sooted cathode. The carbonaceous discharge generates atomic and ionic C and its clusters C _m (m≥ 2), noble gas metastable atoms and ions, energetic electrons and photons in the cavity of the graphite hollow cathode. The parameters of soot formation and its recycling depend critically on the discharge parameters, the geometry of the hollow cathode and 3D profile of the cusp magnetic field contours. Winning controllers and regions in competitive nonlinear dynamic games with two qualitative objectives and uncertain information

The Liapunov technique has been introduced in differential games in a sequence of works over the last decade. We discuss application of this technique to the interface between two competitive semi-games, each with different qualitative objective. The feedback information for controllers is provided from designed, analytically integrable state predictors with reduced dynamics, which considerably shortens the computing time. The case is illustrated on the scenario of target reaching before being intercepted, and intercepting before target is reached.Deceased.

Resolvent estimates in W−1,p related to strongly coupled‐linear parabolic systems with coupled nonsmooth capacities

We investigate linear parabolic systems with coupled nonsmooth capacities and mixed boundary conditions. We prove generalized resolvent estimates in W^{?1, p} spaces. The method is an appropriate modification of a technique introduced by Agmon to obtain L^p estimates for resolvents of elliptic differential operators in the case of smooth boundary conditions.
