A Combinatorial Characterization of Hermitian Curves

A unital U with parameter q is a 2 – (q ³ + 1, q + 1, 1) design. If a point set U in PG(2, q ²) together with its (q + 1)-secants forms a unital, then U is called a Hermitian arc. Through each point p of a Hermitian arc H there is exactly one line L having with H only the point p in common; this line L is called the tangent of H at p. For any prime power q, the absolute points and nonabsolute lines of a unitary polarity of PG(2, q ²) form a unital that is called the classical unital. The points of a classical unital are the points of a Hermitian curve in PG(2, q ²).Let H be a Hermitian arc in the projective plane PG(2, q ²). If tangents of H at collinear points of H are concurrent, then H is a Hermitian curve. This result proves a well known conjecture on Hermitian arcs.     

Codes over and and Hermitian lattices over imaginary quadratic fields

We introduce a family of bi-dimensional theta functions which give uniformly explicit formulae for the theta series of hermitian lattices over imaginary quadratic fields constructed from codes over and , and give an interesting geometric characterization of the theta series that arise in terms of the basic strongly modular lattice . We identify some of the hermitian lattices constructed and observe an interesting pair of nonisomorphic 3/2 dimensional codes over that give rise to isomorphic hermitian lattices when constructed at the lowest level 7 but nonisomorphic lattices at higher levels. The results show that the two alphabets and are complementary and raise the natural question as to whether there are other such complementary alphabets for codes.

     

The measure of holomorphicness of a real submanifold of an almost Hermitian manifold

In this note we define the measure of holomorphicness of a compact real submanifold of an almost Hermitian manifold . The number verifies the following properties: is a complex submanifold iff ; if is odd, then . Explicit examples of surfaces in are obtained, showing that and that , being the Clifford torus.

     

Schroedinger Flows on Compact Hermitian Symmetric Spaces and Related Problems

In this note,we prove that the Schroedinger flow of maps from a closed riemann surface into a compact irreducible Hermitian symmetic space admits a global weak solution.Also,we show the existence of weak solutions to the initial value problem of Heisenberg model with Lie algebra values,which is closely related to the Schroedinger flow on compact Hermitian symmetric spaces.     

Space of Hermitian Triples and Ashtekar–Isham Quantization

We generalize the Ashtekar–Isham construction for quantizing gauge fields to the case where the configuration variables belong to the space of Hermitian triples, not Hermitian connections.     

Stable bundles, representation theory and Hermitian operators

We give an interpretation and a solution of the classical problem of the spectrum of the sum of Hermitian matrices in terms of stable bundles on the projective plane.     

A note on backward perturbations for the hermitian eigenvalue problem

Through different orthogonal decompositions of computed eigenvectors we can define different Hermitian backward perturbations for a Hermitian eigenvalue problem. Certain optimal Hermitian backward perturbations are studied.
