Inverse scattering problem for Sturm–Liouville operator with nonlinear dependence on the spectral parameter in the boundary condition

The inverse problem of the scattering theory for Sturm–Liouville operator on the half line with boundary condition depending quadratic on the spectral parameter is considered. Scattering data are defined, some properties of the scattering data are examined, the main equation is obtained, solvability of the integral equation is proved and uniqueness of algorithm to the potential with given scattering data is studied. On warped product manifolds satisfying some curvature conditions

We determine curvature properties of pseudosymmetric type of certain warped product manifolds, and in particular of generalized Robertson–Walker spacetimes, with Einsteinian or quasi-Einsteinian fibre.     

One-dimensional photonic crystal design

In this article we present a method to determine the band spectrum, band gaps, and discrete energy levels, of a one-dimensional photonic crystal with localized impurities. For one-dimensional crystals with piecewise constant refractive indices we develop an algorithm to recover the refractive index distribution from the period map. Finally, we derive the relationship between the period map and the scattering matrix containing the information on the localized modes.     

MARKOV SKELETON PROCESS IN PERT NETWORKS

In this article, we investigate Programming Evaluation and Review Technique networks with independently and generally distributed activity durations. For any path in this network, we select all the activities related to this path such that the completion time of the sub-network （only consisting of all the related activities） is equal to the completion time of this path. We use the elapsed time as the supplementary variables and model this sub-network as a Markov skeleton process, the state space is related to the subnetwork structure. Then use the backward equation to compute the distribution of the sub-network＇s completion time, which is an important rule in project management and scheduling.     

Nonlinear branching processes with immigration

The nonlinear branching process with immigration is constructed as the pathwise unique solution of a stochastic integral equation driven by Poisson random measures. Some criteria for the regularity, recurrence, ergodicity and strong ergodicity of the process are then established.     

On the concept of solution for fractional differential equations with uncertainty

We consider a differential equation of fractional order with uncertainty and present the concept of solution. It extends, for example, the cases of first order ordinary differential equations and of differential equations with uncertainty. Some examples are presented.     

Rashba coupling in three-electron-quantum dot under cylindrical symmetry: An exact solution

The application of quantum dots in advanced technology goes beyond doubt. Here, based on an analytical methodology, investigate a three-electron-quantum dot in the presence of Rashba spin–orbit interaction under cylindrical symmetry. Both eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the system are reported and the problem is numerically discussed.

Discrete solitons in nonlinear Schrödinger lattices with a power-law nonlinearity

We study the discrete nonlinear Schrödinger lattice model with the onsite nonlinearity of the general form, |u|^2σu. We systematically verify the conditions for the existence and stability of discrete solitons in the one-dimensional version of the model predicted by means of the variational approximation (VA), and demonstrate the following: monostability of fundamental solitons (FSs) in the case of the weak nonlinearity, 2σ+1<3.68; bistability, in a finite range of values of the soliton’s power, for 3.68<2σ+1<5; and the presence of a threshold (minimum norm of the FS), for 2σ+1≥5. We also perform systematic numerical simulations to study higher-order solitons in the same general model, i.e., bound states of the FSs. While all in-phase bound states are unstable, stability regions are identified for antisymmetric double solitons and their triple counterparts. These numerical findings are supplemented by an analytical treatment of the stability problem, which allows quantitively accurate predictions for the stability features of such multipulses. When these waveforms are found to be unstable, we show, by means of direct simulations, that they self-trap into a persistent lattice breather, or relax into a stable FS, or sometimes decay completely.
