We study optimal data collection in energy harvesting sensor networks. The sensed data-stream constitutes a sequence of stationary ergodic random variables and, assuming that timely data is valued more, the value of the data is discounted over time such that frequent collection is required to avoid a loss in value. The hot-atom reaction mechanism brings about reaction rates several orders of magnitude higher than those expected in the case of adatoms which have thermalized with the surface. This paper addresses the issue of a possible thermodynamic characterization of the adlayer under reactive conditions and at the steady state. In turn, this implies having to determine the temperature of the adatoms. This is done by means of a nonequilibrium statistical thermodynamic approach, by exploiting a suitable definition of the entropy. The interplay between reaction rate, vibrational temperature of the adatoms and adsorbed quantities is highlighted. This paper shows that the vibrational temperature depends on reaction rate, logarithmically and exhibits a non-linear scaling on physical quantities linked to the energetics of the reaction, namely the adsorption energy and the binding energy of the molecule. A vibration-based bistable electromagnetic energy harvester coupled to a directly excited primary system is examined numerically. The primary goal of the study is to investigate the potential benefit of the bistable element for harvesting broadband and low-amplitude vibration energy. The considered system consists of a grounded, weakly damped, linear oscillator (LO) coupled to a light-weight, weakly damped oscillator by means of an element which provides both cubic nonlinear and negative linear stiffness components and electromechanical coupling elements. Single and repeated impulses with varying amplitude applied to the LO are the vibration energy sources considered. A thorough sensitivity analysis of the system's key parameters provides design insights for a bistable nonlinear energy harvesting (BNEH) device able to achieve robust harvesting efficiency. This is achieved through the exploitation of three BNEH main dynamical regimes; namely, periodic cross-well, aperiodic (chaotic) cross-well, and in-well oscillations. 相似文献

Three-dimensional porous nitrogen-doped graphene aerogels (NGAs) were synthesized by using graphene oxide (GO) and chitosan via a self-assembly process by a rapid method. The morphology and structure of the as-prepared aerogels were characterized. The results showed that NGAs possesed the hierarchical pores with the wide size distribution ranging from mesopores to macropores. The NGAs carbonized at different temperature all showed excellent electrochemical performance in 6 mol/L KOH electrolyte and the electrochemical performance of the NGA-900 was the best. When working as a supercapacitor electrode, NGA-900 exhibited a high specific capacitance (244.4 F/g at a current density of 0.2 A/g), superior rate capability (51.0% capacity retention) and excellent cycling life (96.2% capacitance retained after 5000 cycles). 相似文献

In this article, optimal replenishment time for merchandiser under partial upstream prepayment and partial downstream overdue payment is presented under quadratic demand with three different models: (1) without deterioration, (2) with constant deterioration and (3) maximum fixed-lifetime deterioration as loss of utility is the real situation of products like fruits, vegetables, juices, etc., and to reduce deterioration of the product, merchandiser spends capital on preservation technology to preserve the item. Quadratic demand is suitable for the products for which demand increases initially and afterward it starts to decrease. The decision policies are analysed for the merchandiser. The objective is to minimize merchandiser’s total cost with respect to decision variables. The models are supported with numerical examples. The Quartz Crystal Microbalance with Dissipation (QCM-D) sensing technique has become widely used to study various supported thin films and adsorption of biological macromolecules, nanoparticles, aggregates, and cells. Such sensing, based on tracking shear oscillations of a piezoelectric crystal, can be employed in situations which are far beyond conventional ones. For example, one can deposit tubes on the surface of a sensor, orient them along the direction of the sensor surface oscillations, and study liquid oscillations inside the oscillating tubes. Herein, we illustrate and classify theoretically the regimes of liquid oscillations in this case. In particular, we identify and scrutinize the transition from the regime with appreciable gradients along the radial coordinate, which are qualitatively similar to those near the oscillating flat interface, to the regime where the liquid oscillates nearly coherently in the whole tube. The results are not only of relevance for the specific case of nanotubes but also for studies of certain mesoporous samples. 相似文献

In this paper we develop a novel energy aware routing approach for mobile ad hoc network (MANET) problems. The approach is based on using Optimized Link State Routing Protocol. Our Energy Aware OLSR labeled as OLSR_EA measures and predicts per-interval energy consumptions using the well-known Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average time series method. We develop a composite energy cost, by considering transmission power consumption and residual energy of each node, and use this composite energy index as the routing metric. Our extensive ns2 simulation experiments show that OLSR_EA substantially prolongs the network lifetime and saves total energy used in MANET. In our experiments we considered different scenarios considering a variety of traffic loads, node mobilities, homogeneous power consumption, and heterogeneous power consumption. Simulation results also confirm that OLSR_EA improves the traffic balance between nodes, and packet delivery ratio in higher node speed. We further develop characteristics of OLSR_EA in power-wise heterogeneous MANET to achieve efficient energy preserving performance. 相似文献
