Local-global problem for Drinfeld modules

Let K be a function field with an A-algebra structure. The ring A arises in the definition of the Drinfeld module φ over K. By E(K) we denote K together with the A-module structure induced on it by φ. For any principal prime ideal (a)⊂A, we study the question whether an element x∈E(K) which is an a-fold in E(K_ν) for every place ν of K, is an a-fold in E(K). Self-similar solutions of the porous medium equation in a half-space with a nonlinear boundary condition: existence and symmetry

We find existence of a nonnegative compactly supported solution of the problem Δu=u^α in , ∂u/∂ν=u on . Moreover, we prove that every nonnegative solution with finite energy is compactly supported and radially symmetric in the tangential variables.     

Maximum Norm Resolvent Estimates for Elliptic Finite Element Operators

We study a finite element approximation A _h, based on simplicial Lagrange elements, of a second order elliptic operator A under homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions in two and three dimensions, where h is thought of as a meshsize. The main result of the paper is a new resolvent estimate for the operator A _h in the L -norm. This estimate is uniform with respect to h for the case with at least quadratic elements. In the case with linear elements, the estimate contains on the right a factor proportional to (log log ), where = 1 or = in two or three dimensions, respectively.This revised version was published online in October 2005 with corrections to the Cover Date.     

Iwasawa μ-invariants of elliptic curves and their symmetric powers

In an earlier paper we considered the effects that finite submodules can have on μ-invariants of Selmer groups. In this paper we examine some of the consequences of that theory to elliptic curves and their symmetric powers. One main result is the construction of an isogeny class of elliptic curves, all of which have positive μ-invariants. A second result is a connection between the behaviors of μ-invariants associated with the symmetric powers of an elliptic curve over , and the behavior of the μ-invariant of that elliptic curve over different extensions of .     

The Selmer Groups of Elliptic Curves

Let E/K be an elliptic curve with K-rational p-torsion points.The p-Selmer group of E is described by the image of a map λk and hence an upper bound of its order is given in terms of the class numbers of the S-ideal class group of K and the p-division field of E.     

Supersimplicity and quadratic extensions

An elliptic curve over a supersimple field with exactly one extension of degree 2 has an s-generic point. A. Gradient estimates in Orlicz space for nonlinear elliptic equations

In this paper we generalize gradient estimates in Lp space to Orlicz space for weak solutions of elliptic equations of p-Laplacian type with small BMO coefficients in δ-Reifenberg flat domains. Our results improve the known results for such equations using a harmonic analysis-free technique.     

Multiplicity of solutions of a zero mass nonlinear equation on a Riemannian manifold

The relation between the number of solutions of a nonlinear equation on a Riemannian manifold and the topology of the manifold itself is studied. The technique is based on Ljusternik-Schnirelmann category and Morse theory.     

On the Elliptic Equation △u ＋ K（x）e^2u -0 with K（x） Positive Somewhere

This paper considers the existence problem of an elliptic equation.which is equivalent to the prescribing conformal Gaussian curvature problem on R2.An existence result is pried.In particular,K(x)is allowed to be unbounded above.
