An approximate solution to the integral radiative transfer equation in an optically thick slab

We consider the problem of solving the integral form of the radiative transfer equation in an atmosphere with optical thickness τ₀?1. We propose two methods transforming this problem to a finite set of the independent problems of the same type set in an atmosphere with optical thickness much less then τ₀. Let μ be a Borel measure on Rd which may be non doubling. The only condition that μ must satisfy is μ(Q) ≤ col(Q)n for any cube Q () Rd with sides parallel to the coordinate axes and for some fixed n with 0 ＜ n ≤ d. The purpose of this paper is to obtain a boundedness property of fractional integrals in Hardy spaces H1 (μ).     

Asymptotics in the Baum—Katz formula for random fields

In 1996, D. Deng established an analog of the Baum—Katz theorem on the convergence rate in the law of large numbers for multi-indexed random variables. The series describing the convergence rate depends, in a natural way, on the parameter characterizing the excess of the normalized sums over some level. In this paper, we find the precise asymptotics of the sum of this series with respect to the above-mentioned parameter. Thus, a generalization of a recent result due to A. Gut and A. Spataru is obtained.

On multiple integrals of special form

Multiple integrals generalizing the iterated kernels of integral operators are expressed as single integrals in the case of a special representation of the kernel (this is our theorem). Besides integral equations, Markov processes involve these integrals as well. As a consequence of the theorem, we obtain transition probability densities of certain Markov processes. As an illustration, we consider nine examples.
